Genesis 9:1

Be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth.

Chapter 11: The tower of Babel.

From Genesis 11:10, we learnt that Shem was 98 years old when he left the Ark. By the time Peleg was born (the fourth generation) it was about 101 years. Just imagine Shem was still around and the people were still living at one particular spot.

They had no inclination to fill the earth, as God wanted them to. They wanted to build a city (verse 4) with skyscrapers, a New York. So God had to give them a little push. In verse 7 God said; "Let us go down there and confuse their language." This was how we became different. Other then the colour of our skins and the languages we used, we are one people.

This took place in the days of Peleg (Gen 10:25), and the people started to cover the earth.

Babel in Hebrew means "confuse", but in Babylonian it means, "gate to heaven". God must have seen that the people were heading in the wrong direction, trying to reach Him through their own effort. So He nipped it at the bud.

The Bible time and again would impress upon us on "God the Father". Those who are parents will understand better. Although we respect our children's right we could never allow them to destroy their life. Our children will treat us as nuisance but we will continue to warn them of the pitfalls.

Yes, I believed in God the Father. I believed I can never be perfect, even though I must keep on trying. I believed that for God to accept me I must believed in Him and be blessed with His salvation.
