By now Christians, and even many non-believers, are familiar with the saying; "a born again Christian". Yet many Christians struggled about their salvation. Many are seeking for signs of assurance that they are born of the Spirit, after they went through water baptism. Out of this came the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements. The most obvious of such signs are the gift of tongue, prophecy and healing. This left many who have none of these to doubt their salvation. Of course Satan is fast to exploit any situation. So there are a great number who "fake" such gifts.
Yet in 1 Cor 12:27-31, it was very clear that God do not want all His children to have the gift of tongues, prophecy or healing. He wanted to give them a higher gift.
It will be true to observe that many people are walking about "spiritually" dead. They do not care for their environment and their fellow human beings. They pollute the earth and exploit nature such that many creatures are now extinct or on the way to extinction. The boss will exploit the workers and the workers exploit their boss. Together they steal from the company.
Many will just move about without noticing those around them. They do not see the helpless all they focus on is to climb higher and higher in wealth creation and accumulation. They do not realise their follies.
Psalms 24:1-2 reads "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein." God wants His people to show respect to the earth and kindness and goodness to all beings - be it creatures or human beings. This, my friends, is Agape, the higher gift. You, who believed and have the spirit in you that constantly drive you to live this out, have been born of the Spirit. You may fail but you will never give out living such a life.
Many would think that such a life is a loser's life. All I can say is, by faith take the first step, and God in Matt 11: 29-30 reads: "Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
