we are glad to report that hana chan is now fully recovered from her sore throat and even going to the pool with mommy again, as can be seen in the bottom shots. hana really surprises us with the words she just comes up with out of thin air: the other day, she suddenly yelled out "sugoiiiiiiiiiii !!!" ("wow...that was awesome!!!") in response to one of daddy's unmentionable, yet somehow not unrelated to bouts of intestinal gas, physical indicators.

hana chan misses her grandpa and grandma soooooo much! they are in tokyo until this wednesday, and hana can't wait for them to get back...she repeats the words, "granma granpa bye bye" over and over!

hana chan is recovering from strep throat. she is almost back to her former (of 2 days ago) self, and actually likes the medicine dr. nakashima prescribed (kinda strawberry-ish)! in the top pic, note what little hana is grasping in her right hand as she naps: her velcro-backed picture of her beloved grandpa & grandma! the other two shots are garden-variety, around the house shots.

here are some shots of lovely hanachan in her china doll 2-piece. hana had a great time with her auntie "aki" and uncle "daybee" over the mother's day weekend...and after they left, she seemed sad, saying "aki...daybee...bye bye." hana's mother's day gift to her mommy was her second pee pee in her elmo toilet after a long "dry spell."

responding to a request from auntie akemi and uncle david to update this website, hana has, well, updated the website. lately, hana's mommy has been making her sun dresses, as can be seen in this pic. isn't it cute! she scampers all over the park labrea in her new dresses and sandals, the lil fashion plate that she is. grandpa and grandma came over for dinner last night, and hana had a ball as usual. and today, she went with mommy, grandma, and kathy bennett to marina del rey...she had a great time, but had to watch out for jellyfish! yucky.

hana knows how to get what she wants. for instance, when she wants to go for a walk, she knows that all she needs to do is bring daddy his sneakers! and she has made huge leaps in her "sesame skills" lately too: she can now sing the entire alphabet (although she really lumps those "L M N O P" letters together!) AND count to ten in both japanese and english. new words? "panda", "penguin", "ohisama" ("sun" in japanese...and her pronunciation is sooo cute: "o-hee-mama"), "leeeeeee-san" (the korean man that works at the park labrea cafe named mr. lee), "one more", "oide" ("come here"), matte (wait!), "suika" (watermelon), "achee" ("atsui" or hot), "sara" (her friend sara), "aahbell" (her friend annabelle), ALL first names of her immediate family and a few extras to boot (daddy = ryo, mommy = kozue, grandma = june, grandpa = haaaaaree, aunties = akemi/aki and eiko/reiko, daybee = uncle david, ryoko = mommy's friend ryoko)...there are many more but it's getting hard to keep up!
