hana had a busy weekend, going to universal citywalk on saturday (pics above), and then to the natural history museum (again...she LOVES the stuffed animals!) on sunday.hana chan has this unusual habit these days of singing her usual nursery rhymes, then suddenly blurting out "uncle george" in mid-stream...bizarre but cute! her new super-cute phrases are: howareyouuuuu? im fine! new song: baa baa black sheep. she also sings "okii na taiko bye bye," a combination of 2 different japanese songs she knows...maybe she will be an improvisational jazz musician when she grows up

hana hates having her teeth brushed, but seems to have a little of grandma june's genes in her dental hygienist routine (see top photo). the second shot is of her ever growing hair...we are talking big, big hair here, people. finally, to get a sense of how fast and dramatically babies develop, here are a few shots of hana chan exactly 1 year ago...what a chubby chubby chubby cutie! (hana is now a chubby chubby cutie)

hana chan now has gotten into the habit of stripping off her diaper all by herself in eager anticipation of taking a bath. then she spends the next couple minutes streaking around the apartment before finally plunging into the tub with daddy. the other pic is of hana's beloved grandma june at her 61st b-day party...happy birthday, grandma!

hana got back from palm desert yesterday with her grandparents and folks. she had a blast! it was hot. very hot. 105 degrees hot. but hana spent most of the day either in the pool or in an air-conditioned shopping mall or hotel room, so she didn't melt away! she ran around the shopping outlet to her heart's content the first day, then arrived at the gorgeous palm desert marriot, complete with its own lagoon and boat rides. above are some shots of the fun trip. thanks grandpa and grandma!!!

hana will be going to palm springs tomorrow with her folks and grandparents tomorrow. it's the first vacation for all of us since auntie akemi and uncle david's wedding...much needed! hana is still one of the little kids at the park labrea fountain, but as can be seen in the top picture, she already looks so grown up! look at the difference between the top "hana's world" chubby baby face! babies grow up way too fast!!

hana chan has now added the japanese nursery rhyme "sacchan" to her repertoire of songs she can sing start to finish. she also has made many, many friends at the park labrea fountain: annabelle, agnes, ellie, ann, tobias, sarah, se-yun, hester, and maya, to name but a few. she goes to the pool with her mommy once or twice a week, and has really taken a liking to the water. above, she can be seen in her favorite: her pink teletubbies bathing suit. the other shot is her typical pre-bath turbin routine.

hana went with her folks to the la zoo today...her 3rd visit to this zoo (counting her visit to the san diego zoo, this was her 4th visit to a zoo!). she can now name every animal she sees, except hippos (a common affliction of 20 month old future zoologists). she especially liked the chimpanzees, as they are in a big habitat enclosed with glass walls that the kiddies can peer through. the zoo is wonderful for the little ones, and educational too...but the most intriguing thing about the place is the sheer density of fat people in one location.

hana has been running around with mommy and grandma all day, and now it's...BATHTIME ! ! ! ! ! ! !

hana went to the california science center and the natural history museum today, and ran all over the place! it is really amazing how her comprehension of what she sees has developed since our last visit. she is especially fascinated by fish, dinosaurs, and the stuffed animals.

hana's grandma & grandpa came home from tokyo the other day, and boy was hanachan happy! and as an added bonus, she got her very own hello kitty wristwatch, along with a cute little "jinbe," a kind of mini kimono for summer wear. hana and her daddy just got back from the park, where hana made the rounds, visiting all the korean housewives and receiving crackers and watermelon.
