hana pics out and about around park labrea.

well, hana really truly never ceases to impress: after taking a bath with papa as usual, mommy asks her, "what do you say to daddy after he gives you a bath?" (this of course, in japanese). and what does she respond with? KAMSAMNIDA!!! (*korean* for "thank you"). tons of koreans live in the park labrea, and hana has made many wonderful little korean friends...evidently, the language is also rubbing off on her! too cool!

hana had a great time celebrating her grandpa's birthday a couple days ago. she celebrates every birthday as if it was her own...literally, as can be seen from the top pic.

hana went to costco the day before yesterday and chowed down on all the sausage samples! mmm mmm good...and free! and yesterday, we went the koi pond for the first time in a while. this time, hana said "pish...pish...bakkari." translation: pish=fish (in hana-speak), and "bakkari" means "all over the place!." and today, hana's mommy was sleepy, so hana went with her papa to the tar pits (she actually understands the word "tar"!)

hana's daddy is now shooting pics of her not only with his trusty digital camera, but also with his new, ultrahip lomo manual (2 top pics). yes, the world's most photographed toddler is adding to her laurels.

after a week of getting back into the normal swing of things, hanachan is again enjoying her daily life back here in the park labrea: the parks, fountain, all her little neighborhood friends, mommy&me class, and, of course, all her videos! we have been talking to neighborhood japanese about sending hana to japanese language preschool in about a year...since those we've talked to say it's really fun and a great way for kids to make new friends, too, we are seriously considering the twice a week plan once hana turns 3. yesterday, we went to the westside pavilion for the first time in a long while. hanachan bought lots of new clothes at tutto bimbi, a swank italian children's clothing store...all at steep discounts of 60% off! she got 2 cute summer outfits (one navy, one orange with yellow flowers), a grey "poofy" blouse, 2 pairs of retro hot pants (woo hoo!), and (from baby gap) a little pink bonnet and a blue denim dress...what a windfall! today, we went to lacma and saw the gerald wilson big band play some awful big band music, then had lunch in the park.

hana chan had a fantastic time in seattle with her aunt akemi, uncle david, and "cousins" madison an berkeley. when she first got out of the car, the dogs rushed her and she cried out in fear. however, by the end of the week, she was on hugging terms with the doggies, giving them cookies and seeking them out to pet...and now, the bad news: papa deleted all the digital photos from the trip! what a numbskull! oh well, he's going to try to salvage a few shots by scanning in some regular photos and posting them at a later date. oops!
