hana chan loves to dance! when her papa plays tunes on his pc, she immediately drops whatever she is doing and starts shaking her hands and wagging her behind...and what rhythm she has! she especially likes techno and club music because of the heavy beat and danceable pace.

hana's auntiie akemi and uncle david stopped by this past weekend before heading off to a wedding. they gave hana a cute stuffed labrador just like madison & berkeley and some play doh, which hana is busy mashing into the rug as this sentence is going into the computer.

hana chan just loves the beach! we took her to marina del rey this past weekend and she had blast running around in the sand and throwing rocks into the ocean. it was her reward for going to dr. nakashima's the day before and not even crying a peep! the 2 other shots are of hana and her doting grandparents...what a lucky little girl.

thanks to her wonderful grandpa, grandma, and auntie reiko, hana-chan had a great birthday after all!!! arden was filled with elmo balloons, and we all had nice, big juicy steaks and a delicious ice cream cake! and hana even got her own vacuum cleaner from grandpa & grandma! she vacuums with her mommy daily (mommy has the hoover windtunnel and hana has a cute little red dirt devil). above are some pictures from our recent trip to the l.a. zoo's new petting zoo for kids. hana loves to brush goats...maybe there is some money in that field down the line!

thousands of lives were lost yesterday in the terrorist attacks on the east coast. our precious manhattan skyline will never be the same. and hana's birthday trip to disneyland has been postponed. and i repeat: postponed.

ah-ee-oo-eh-oh...that is hana's new phrase for the week! yep, she is learning her hiragana now! after having mastered the alphabet and counting up to 20 in both J and E, she is now off to a new challenge!

hana also is learning the ropes in her dealings with her mommy and daddy too: last night, she suddenly felt the urge to smack her daddy on the cheek as he was trying to feed her some much needed chicken to balance out her huge gohan intake. of course, she knows that when she smacks people, especially the owners of the hands that feed her, she is in for a reprimand. so what does she do? she IMMEDIATELY nudges up to her mommy and daddy and says "mommy...yasashiii...daddy...yasashii" (translation: "mommy...you are so kind...daddy...you are so kind." sheesh!
