11.27.2001
        hana has had a string of visits to dr. nakashima's office in the past couple weeks. first it was an ear infection, then yesterday, inexplicably, she complained of pain in her left arm and refused to move it! as she has had an ongoing case of constipation in the past week as well, we first thought it might be an acute case of plugged-bm-leading-to--butt-pain-itis, but then she asked us to put a bandaid on her arm of all places! dr. nakashima diagnosed it as a sprain or maybe a slight 'greentree' fracture, but advised us to wait a day and see if it didn't just heal itself. after we got home, hana still complained on pain, even after awaking from her nap. then, grandpa and grandma showed up for dinner and it mysteriously healed itself! and to top that off, after g&g went home, hana relieved herself too! wow, the healing powers of g&g are truly amazing! above are shots of hana and buddy stephanie doing the choo choo...2 shots that cover 2 of hana's many moods...said dr. nakashima...one of hana's favorite places: gymboree! 11.17.2001     hana's legs are even long enough for her to pedal her tricycle yet, but she already has her sights set on bigger machines it seems! 11.16.2001    hana chan attended her once-a-week japanese preschool - "suika gakkou" (watermelon school) - for the first time today, and as usual, acted as if she was a veteran! she sang, danced, made a turkey out of a paper plate with scissors and crayons, and made some new friends to boot. the second pic is of our little funny face in one of her favorite places...her nightly bath with papa. hana is getting very good at clean-up, but sometimes after taking paper from papa's printer and drawing to her heart's content, she overdoes it a bit, as you can see in the third pic. 11.12.2001        it was hana's papa's birthday yesterday, and to celebrate, hana and her parents, grandparents, and great grandma ikuko went to the long beach aquarium of the pacific...hana just scampered around all day, mesmerized by the fantastic fishies. but poor ikuko obaachan! we had to park quite a ways away from the aquarium because of the long beach marathon, and she had to walk about 5 or 6 blocks! she had to quit midway through until rescued with a wheelchair as she waited in a nearby parking lot. 11.7.2001  for all the progress hana chan has made in the past 2 years, she reverts to her old baby self every so often, just for the heck of it. here she is, receiving what she refers to in japanese as her "baby milk" from mommy. 11.5.2001        big day for hana chan! she succeeded in telling us that she wanted to peepee so that we could rush her over to her elmo potty...in the nick of time! 3 times! the only thing is that she yells out the japanese equivalent for "#2" even though she actually only has to do "#1"...but that's a minor point...the main thing is that she now warns us of impending peepee! hana chan already has a practical side to her too: the other day, her grandma and grandpa gave her some money presented to her in a halloween card...then just yesterday, she takes the card off the table and seeing that the money is now gone, starts hollering out the japanese for "where's the money?! where's the money?!" hana went to the pool today again with mommy...beautiful day and the place was empty. and WOW! hana SWAM all by herself from one side of the wading pool to the other (about 30 feet!!!) |
