For cardboard people
Who need cardboard spirit guides
Who give cardboard advice
That will go into a recycling bin
Right after the next fad comes along

Cutting down a forest of trees
To print this sentimental nonsense
About floating balls of light
And warm, gooey spirits who don't do anything
But love and affirm and give warm, squishy vibrations

I wonder what the people who buy this junk
Would do if they met a real angel
Angels don't come down to earth for nothing
Better be careful what you wish for
Someone may show up and put you to work
Hold you accountable to a higher standard
Make you clean out the junk in your life
Push you past your limits
Make you examine and understand yourself
And even change things
You'd better be ready for hard work
Life won't be easy any longer
