Scott was born and educated in Glasgow. He studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) as an Opera Singer, and never wanted to do musical theatre for it was shunned in the classical world. Thankfully his mother suggested he see Phantom, but did not see it until 1990 as musicals did not appeal to him. However when Scott saw Phantom he loved it (who wouldn't?!) but never dreamed he'd ever play the main part of Erik!
The most enjoyable experience for Scott in his life of musicals, apart from Phantom, was at the RNT in Hallissinia (as the father)
"…the cast were fantastic and great fun"
Scott has also made appearances on our television screens in top shows such as Crimewatch UK and Taggart.
"Acting for TV is nothing like Live theatre it has to be much smaller than stage or else you look 'HAM,' and also you don't have the buzz that Live theatre has, the audience, the fear of any words going astray etc."
At the moment Scott's past time is spent getting fit by running 9 miles a day, going to the gym 3 times a week with his wife, and playing football with friends at the pub. Busy Bee!
"oh, and cooking, I love cooking."
Scott and his wife, Lucy are happily married and have a little boy, Jack, who was born on the 4th October 2000. Lucy is delighted to be back at Her Majesty's in the new cast replacing Scott's and playing Meg Giry again.
Scott enjoys all types of music apart from rap, understandable. He listens to a lot of classical music, especially Sibelius and would strongly recommend his Violin concerto. Scott also likes Destinies Child and Robbie Williams, though his favourite of all time is Sir Elton John. Scott was asked to sing at his birthday concert last July, and with a couple of friends was planning to do a Venetian Opera Evening. Unfortunately Scott was unable to take part in this unique opportunity.
Scott's ambition is to have fun at all times, at work and at home and to do Les Miserables if he free and able (lets all cross our fingers!).
"With regard to Les Mis, Cam Mac has sent me a script to look at (Jean Valjean) with a view to take it over in Nov'01"
Latest Developments:
It is now 2002 and it seems that Scott was unable to do the role in the end, certainly still a role he is destined to play! Scott was very busy with the company West End International, which do concerts all over Europe and Great Britain with 'West End to Broadway' - Songs From the shows and 'The world oof Rodgers and Hammerstein'. These concerts are with full symphonic orchestras. He is still a member of the company but all the shows the webmasters know of so far do not have him listed.
On BBC Radio 2 Scott was also
on the programme Friday Night is Music Night, and did a wonderful job.
He sang a duet from Brigadoon, a song by Burns, Bring Him Home, His Kind of
Girl (Eurovision song, but very good!! LOL), and finally a Guys and Dolls duet
fusing two songs together.
Congratulations to Scott and
Lucy on the birth of their second child!

"My fav production was 'Billy Budd' by Benjamin Britten. Fantastic story and music, but you have to like BB music to enjoy this opera. It has drama, sadness, and humour."
