


Troops in Catawba County are part of the Piedmont council, in the Lakeland District.
There are 35 active boy scout troops in the Lakeland District with 673 boys in all.
There are 36 cub scout packs in the Lakeland District with 1377 boys in all.
There are 4 venture crews in the Lakeland District with 31 students (male and female) in all.
There are 39 explorer posts with 1031 people (male and female) in all between Catawba and Gaston Counties.
These numbers were taken at the end of 2000.
The following are projects Boy Scouts in Catawba County 
A walkway for the flagpole at Banoak Elementary School.
A tree house, which was a hazard to children, was taken down, and landscaping done afterwards at the Church of the Ascension.
A nature obsevatory at Southwest Elementry was put up.
An inventory of all furniture, art, and random collectibles at Maple Grove and the Propst House was done.
A beautification project consisting of a nature trail and an observatory was made at Jenkins Elementary School.
A beautification project at Arndt Middle School.
The construction of a garden area for Alzheimer's patients.
Several outdoor chapels at various churches.
A new bike trail at River Bend Park.
Landscaping around Hickory High School.
Several church playgrounds.
An amphitheater at Lake Norman State Park.
A picnic area at Startown Optimist Ballpark.
Several nature trails at various locations.
A porch swing and picnic tables at a local Girl Scout camp.
A nature trail at Mountain View Elementary School.
Landscaping around the local post office.
A wildlife habitat at a local park.
