ROSCOE
the Kat!
"Moron Dog, you can't reach me here!"
Scrapper and Roscoe, the Siamese lynx-point cat, have an interesting relationship. To Scrapper, Roscoe is another playmate, an animated dog-toy, although with sharp teeth and claws. To Roscoe, Scrapper is a slobbering, hulking insensitive beast, with a huge messy tongue. Clearly, these are two wildly diverging views. As might be imagined, with such a disparity, there is little room for compromise. Scrapper's goal in life is to catch Roscoe so he can play with him. Roscoe's goal is to avoid the idiot dog as much as possible as he longs and plots for the pre-Scrapper days.
Roscoe came to live with us as the early age of 3 weeks old. He was found, abandoned by his Momma, under a porch and was being nursed by the receptionist at our vet's office. Knowing that we were looking for a Siamese kitty, she offered him to us. When we brought him home, he was so tiny, a half a shoebox lid served as a kitty litter pan for him. We bottle-fed him for another three weeks. Having been separated from his littermates and Momma at such an early age, Roscoe developed some unusual traits. He doesn't purr, except on those rare occasions when he is curled up on your shoulder, kneading your neck with his razor-sharp talons. He likes to sleep on our desk in the office while we work. And he continues to rue the day that Scrapper came here to disrupt his serene life.
Scrapper lies in wait. He knows at the first twitch, Rosoce will be gone, leaping into his baby-gated sanctuary - the one room at the end of the hall where the cretin dog cannot come and bother him.
Roscoe enjoys one of his favorite sleeping places, high at the top of his cat tree just under the ceiling, safely away from Scrapper's reach.
With these two, it's clear that peaceful co-existence is about all that can be hoped for. Roscoe rules everything above Scrapper's reach, solid in his inherent belief that it is he, ROSCOE, who is truly the royalty in this household. The two will often sit about three feet from each other, knowing that if the equilibrium is disturbed by one, the other will bolt. Poor Roscoe, if he only knew that Mommy and Daddy are hoping for a new Boxer sister for Scrapper!
Has been given the award "Honorary Kat," her personal hatred for Scrapper wins big points with Roscoe!
