TROUBLE IN VOLLEY BALL CAMP

BY: CHIBI STEEL BRIGHTBLADE (1/9/02)

It was another beautiful day in the Scottish Highlands. The sky was crystal clear and there wasn't a soul to be found. Save for one he was by his nature a loner, but then again in this time when the world shunned his art he felt it was best for him to remain unknown to the world, but not only that his family lineage alone was enough to turn history into myth and myth into history. For you see this young man is a descendant of one of the most powerful wizards to ever walk the Earth. This young man is a relation to Merlin. Since that great wizard's time magic had always been in his family and Richard McLeod was no different. Indeed to those that practiced the arcane art Richard was said to be the one that had the most potential to master magic since the Great Merlin himself. Lately though the young mage had been troubled by strange and disturbing visions. He was troubled that an ancient evil was about to revisit the Earth, and this was an Evil that even Merlin himself had barely survived.

Aino Minako had just finished packing her things for the upcoming weekend volley ball camp that she and Makoto had signed up to participate in. "Well, now that I'm all finished packing I can get ready for my date tonight." She happily said as she started going through her closet looking for just the right outfit to wear. Artemis just snorted at the mention of Minako having a date he'd been through this scene many times before. "So, what's the name of the new guy that's going to break your heart in less than a week?" The white cat said in a rather condescending manner. "Gee, thanks Artemis you could at least pretend to happy for me, and when did I ever say it was a guy." Minako replied humorlessly. That statement made the cat laugh. "Right, Minako you really expect me to believe that you're going on a date with a girl." He said as he jumped onto Minako's desk. Minako just giggled and told Artemis that he could believe anything he wanted to, but he'd find out soon enough that she wasn't joking. "Ah perfect, I'll wear this dress tonight." She said as she pulled out a red sun dress that had two crossing white roses over the middle of the chest she completed the outfit by putting on a pair of white pumps. She looked at herself in the mirror for a few seconds and blew her reflection a kiss. "Minako you are one fine looking girl." She grabbed her purse and then took a seat on her couch and waited for her date to arrive.

Kino Makoto was sitting by a fountain that had become a very special place for her. Because it was at this very spot that her best friend Minako had asked her out on a date. It was hard keeping the news from the girls but they felt it best for now that nobody know. She looked down at her watch. It was time for her to start walking to Minako's. She picked up her suitcase and started the trip. Makoto had a feeling that this was going to be one of the best weekends of her life. She would be able to spend almost the entire weekend with the one person that meant more to her than almost everybody else in life. Somehow whenever Makoto was away from Minako she felt incomplete. She had been wondering if maybe after all this time her so-called Mr. Right was really a Miss Right. She had a feeling that after this weekend she'd know. The plan for tonight was simple they were going out to dinner and then a moonlit stroll around the park, and since they both had to be at the bus station early so they could get to the volley camp Makoto was going to spend the night with Minako. Although Makoto had been on dates before she felt really nervous about this upcoming weekend and even more so about tonight.

The evil was now so close that it sent chills down the spine of Richard McLeod. He knew he had only one hope he had hold it off long enough for his comrades to arrive. If they couldn't then he was dead. He always knew that this day would come but he had hoped that it would be after he was considerably stronger at magic than he his now. Kumori a demi-demon was once again free and roaming the Earth. All the legends about Kumori said that he was born of a demon mother and mortal warlock father. He had his mother's immortality, and his father's magic. Kumori devastated the English and Scottish countrysides for decades before Merlin challenged him. In one final climatic battle of horrific magic, the likes of which the world has never seen before or since, Merlin had managed to trap Kumori inside of a magic mirror, but even the great wizard could not trap the demi-demon forever, and now he was once again loose. Richard was afraid that if he could not be stopped here and now then the whole world would feel the demi-demon's wrath. And then the demon was upon him. "At long last I shall have my revenge. You descendant of Merlin will be my first victim." The creature laughed as it then spoke arcane words and a shower of ice raced toward the young mage. Richard spoke arcane words of his own and managed to block the ice attack. "I will never let you beat me demon! You will go back to the void that you were trapped in for so long!" The young mage yelled trying not to let Kumori see his fear. "Powers of nature, powers of light, lend me your strength. Lightning rain down from the heavens." Richard spoke and a massive bolt of lightning came from out of the clear sky striking the demon where it stood. The bolt had sent up a massive amount of dirt and other debris, and when the cloud thinned so Richard could see again Kumori was no where to be seen just then he felt a hand grasp his throat. He then felt himself being hoisted off the ground. "If you tell me what I want to know I'll let you live. Where is the last of the females of Merlin's lineage?" Kumori asked in voice that sounded like it was coming from a bottomless pit. The young mage said nothing. "Very well then I'll just take a look into your mind." The demon said with a murderous rage. After a brief but futile astral battle the demon had found what he wanted. "And now Richard McLeod descendant of Merlin you die." With those words the demi-demon slashed at Richard's sliver cord that connects all astral travelers to their physical bodies. Once that silver cord is snapped the astral body dies and so does the person's physical body due to the psychic shock. When Kumori returned to the physical plane he saw Richard's body slumped lifeless at his feet. His new prey was in Japan. He would go there and kill the last female in the lineage of Merlin. He would have his revenge first then he would have the world.

Makoto's heart was racing as she walked up to the door of her best friend and date for the night. She rang the doorbell but the second she hit the button the door flung open, and a smiling Minako wrapped her arms around Makoto. Makoto dropped her suitcase and embraced Minako. "Hey babe it's so nice to see you." Makoto said as she gave Minako a kiss on the forehead. "I love you Mako-chan." Minako responded as she kissed Makoto on the cheek. The two girls disentangled from each other and Makoto picked up her suitcase and brought it inside. "Where should I put my suitcase?" Makoto asked. "Just put it on the couch babe." Minako told Makoto. Artemis walked into the living room hearing Makoto's voice. "Hello Makoto, how are you doing?" The cat asked. "I'm doing great Artemis, now if you'll excuse us we've got plans for tonight." Makoto answered with a slight giggle in her voice. "You mean you're Minako's date tonight?" The white cat asked stunned at the revelation. Both girls just giggled and told Artemis that they would see him when they got back, and that he better not say anything to anybody especially Usagi and Luna. With that Makoto and Minako walked out of the house arm in arm. Artemis could hardly believe it in fact he knew that had he not witnessed it with his own eyes and ears he never would have believed it. "In all my time with that girl I never would have guessed that she would turn out to be bisexual." Artemis said to a now empty house.

Makoto pulled out a chair for Minako to sit in, and then seated herself. The two choose an outdoor diner for their dinner. The weather was perfect a cloudless sky and a mild temperature alog with a waxing gibbous moon made this a great night to dine outside. The young couple sat enjoyed each other's company. "I wonder if this is how Usagi and Mamoru feel every time they go on a date." Minako thought aloud. Makoto responded saying that she was pretty sure they do. After they had finished their dinner Minako paid the bill for both of them despite Makoto's objections that she should at least pay her portion of the bill. "Maybe I'll let you pay next time Mako-chan." Minako said as she kissed Makoto's hand. They then crossed the street to the park and started a leisurely stroll around the park's lake. The young couple walked hand in hand the whole way. This of course did draw a few odd glances and stares, but neither girl really cared what anybody else had to think. The two sat down on a bench about half way around the lake. Minako put her arm around Makoto's waist and Makoto did likewise. They both had one thought going through their heads. 'I hope this night never ends.' "Mako-chan." Minako whispered. "Yes babe?" Makoto responded. "I love you." Minako said. "I love you too, and as long as I'm here nobody will ever break you're heart again." Makoto replied as their lips met in a soft kiss. "I was always wondering if you kissed on the first date Minako." Makoto said as this brought a chuckle from the blonde. Minako looked down at her watch. "We better get going we don't want to be late getting up tomorrow." She said as the two girls started to walk back to Minako's hand in hand.

*************************

When they got back Minako's house they worked out the sleeping arrangements they both slept on the floor in Minako's room. Before they fell asleep Makoto could tell that Minako was crying. "What's wrong babe?" Makoto asked with a voice laced with concern. "I'm fine love, it's just I'm so happy that I have a best friend like you, and with all the heart break I've been through it's nice to know that I have somebody that I can fall back on if I need to." Minako said as she hugged the taller girl. "I told you before Minako I'll be there whenever you need me, and I think you can start calling me your girlfriend now." Makoto told the smaller blonde as she hugged her tightly. The two girls kissed one more time, and then cuddled up and fell asleep in each other arms.

*************************

Makoto was the first one to awaken when saw Minako still sleeping she smiled down at her new girlfriend and brushed a few stray hairs out of her face. "Why didn't we try dating sooner love?" She asked to no one in particular. She leaned down and softly kissed Minako's forehead. Minako stirred for a second but didn't wake up. Makoto slowly got up and headed for the kitchen she planed to make the two of them breakfast. As far as breakfast food went Minako didn't have much. Just eggs, bacon, and bread, so Makoto decided on scrambled eggs with bacon and toast. She also put a pot of coffee on to brew. Shortly after the coffee started brewing Minako staggered into the kitchen. "Good morning babe." Makoto said as she walked over to the still groggy Minako and hugged her and kissed her cheek. Minako returned the hug and the kiss. "Good morning to you too love." Minako mumbled practically stumbling over the words, and trying to stifle a yawn at the same time. "Breakfast will be ready shortly, but all you had were eggs, bacon and bread, so I made scrambled eggs, fried some bacon and made some toast." Makoto told her girlfriend. Minako just smiled. "Love that sounds great." The two girls made small talk while they ate their breakfast. After they had finished breakfast, they both took quick showers and got dressed. Then they picked up their suitcases and headed out for the bus station.

*************************

At the bus station the two girls sat down and started talking about the upcoming volleyball camp and how much fun it should be. Minako leaned in close to Makoto. "Yeah, it will be nice to have some down time, and be ourselves for once instead of having to save the world." Minako whispered to Makoto. Makoto just smiled. "I hear that girl friend." She replied in her own whisper. Then the look on Makoto's face grew serious. "Did you bring yours?" She asked knowing that all too well that things don't always go as smoothly as planned. Minako showed Makoto her henshin stick. Makoto did likewise. "Like the Boy Scouts always say, Be Prepared." Minako said as she put her henshin stick away. "Minako you actually got one right." Makoto teased as she took her partner's hand in her own. Minako laughed as she gently squeezed Makoto's hand. As the two sat talking to each other another girl walked up to the young couple. She had short dirty blonde hair cut in a similar fashion to Ami's, she stood about 4 four foot 9 inches, her skin was a little darker than a fair skinned person, and she looked to be about 12 or 13 but in her case looks were deceiving. She was in truth older than Makoto by a little less than a year. "Excuse me but is this seat taken?" She asked indicating the seat next to Makoto. "No nobody is sitting there." Makoto said. The girl sat down. "Do you mind if I ask where you two are headed?" The girl shyly asked. "We're going to volleyball camp for the weekend." Minako answered. "The Jr. Japan Girls Volleyball Camp the one that's sponsored by the women's Olympic Volley Team?" The girl asked now sounding excited. "The same one." Makoto replied. "Wow that's where I'm headed. Oh I'm sorry I never introduced myself. I'm Yamino Chijin." She stated as she bowed her head. "I'm Aino Minako." Minako introduced herself. "And, I'm Kino Makoto." Makoto then introduced herself. The three girls then started to talk about the camp and why they had decided to go. It wasn't too long after that the bus had arrived and the three girls boarded the bus.

*************************

The bus ride was rather uneventful. That was until the bus pulled into a small sports complex that had eight small buildings around a larger central building. The bus pulled to a stop in front of the large building, and everybody disembarked. Makoto, Minako, and Chijin were the last three off the bus. They were greeted by a woman that appeared to be in her mid to late 20's, and she told them to find a seat in the gym, and that all the details would be given when the last of the buses had arrived. The gym was already crowed when the three girls had made their way inside. Another woman was telling the new arrivals to take a seat as close to the top as possible and fill each row from left to right so there would be room for everybody else. Minako had expected a large number of attendees but she had no idea it would be this big, and there were still more people coming. She whispered to Makoto. "I hope they have enough room in here to fit everybody." She was commenting on the fact that the bleachers were already over half way full. The three girls took their seats about three quarters of the way down and to the far right. It was a couple of minuets later that the announcement was made that the last of the buses had arrived. When the last of the participants had arrived there wasn't enough room in the bleachers to fit everybody so some of the last ones to file in were sitting on the floor. There were five women on the stage four of them introduced themselves as the instructors, and the fifth one introduced herself as the camp director, and said that were five more associate instructors that would be coming a little later in the day. After they announced the rules for the weekend, they started dividing the group up. They had all those trying out for the Jr. National Volley team go into one of the locker rooms. Then they had all those that had come with a group from Jr. High Schools exit the gym and get their room assignments, the same was done for those that came with a group from a High School. After those participants had left the gym there were only a few dozen kids left. "O.K. now for those of you remaining I need you to get into groups of three or four, and I'll hand out your room assignments." The camp director said. "Chijin, would you like to room with us?" Minako asked. The smaller girl replied that she would like that. They decided that they would wait for everybody else to get their room assignment first. The idea paid off. They were the only ones to get a room on the third floor of the building they were in. All three of the girls laughed about having an entire floor to themselves. After all the room assignments were handed out, one final announcement was made that they were to meet back here half an hour.

*************************

The room that the three girls shared was small. It had two bunk beds, two closets with two small dressers in each closet, and two small desks in the middle of the room. It had a small bathroom off to the side. "I guess you two are going to want one set of beds." Chijin said. Makoto looked at Chijin with a wicked grin on her face. "We'll only need one bed for the both of us." Makoto said. Minako poked her girlfriend in the side. "Mako-chan! I can't believe you said that." Minako giggled. "I was only kidding babe." Makoto said in her defense. Chijin just laughed. "How long have you two been together?" The sand blonde asked. "Not long, but we've been friends for a long time now." Minako said as took Makoto's hand in her own. "Yeah, we just went on our first date last night." Makoto added as she squeezed Minako's hand gently. Chijin just smiled at the couple. "Wish I had somebody that I could be close to. My last boyfriend broke up with me after I moved to Tokyo." Chijin said. "I'm sorry to hear that Chijin. Where did you live before you moved to Tokyo?" Minako asked. "Nagasaki. My dad got promoted from his position as branch manager to regional director and he got transferred from the Nagasaki office to the main office in Tokyo, but all of my friends are back in Nagasaki. Tokyo is a lonely place I'm learning." Chijin told the young couple while her eyes began to moisten. "What part of Tokyo?" Makoto asked. "I live in the Juuban district, Juuban Towers Condominiums." Chijin answered. "The Juuban district me and Mako-chan live there too, and I know exactly where the Juuban Towers are." Minako began. "Maybe the three of us could hang together sometimes, and me and Mako-chan could introduce you to some of our friends." She finished. By now Chijin was completely in tears from hearing that there are actually people that would want to be her friends. Despite all her attempts to make new friends she hadn't succeeded but now here were two people that were willing to give her a chance. Chijin found herself at a loss for words. "I...I...I just have no idea what to say." She finally managed to choke out the words. Makoto gently put her hand on Chijin's shoulder. "I know how you feel I moved around a lot when I was younger I never really had a chance to make many friends and being lonely is the worst." She softly said to the small sand blonde, and then hugged her. Minako pretty much dittoed Makoto's sentiments. "As long as me and Mako-chan are around I promise you Chijin you'll never be alone." Minako said as she too hugged Chijin. Just then Chijin's watch went off signaling that it was time to head back to the gym

*************************

The only ones in the gym this time were those that didn't come with any group. There were two of the instructors with the group, and one of them started speaking. "Well, I hope everybody got settled in all right. Now the fun begins. Just to give you guys a run down. We will be going over the rules of and playing two on two beach volleyball, four on four beach volleyball, weather permitting, and of course the traditional six on six indoor volleyball." When she was done talking she handed out a packet of information, and informed everyone that the rules and schedule for the weekend were inside. "By show of hands how many of you have played some kind of organized volleyball before just six on six, either school, Jr. Nationals, or something along that line?" The instructor asked. About one-quarter of the group raised their hands. For about the next half hour she started going over the rules of the six on six game. Then she had everybody line up and do some drills on bumping and setting after those drills were finished she had everybody practice serving both overhand and underhand. Once all the drills were finished she broke the group up into eight teams of six, and let them play. When it was time to break for lunch, everybody had been impressed by Minako's ability, and Chijin too proved to be a dominating player as well and Makoto was also a pretty decent player, in fact none of Makoto's spikes were neither returned nor blocked. Some had joked that Minako, Makoto and Chijin could probably beat the Jr. National team by themselves. This made the three girls laugh. "Three on six I doubt we're that good." Minako had responded. The three girls ate their lunch together, and talked about how much fun it had been so far, and how much they looked forward to the rest of the weekend.

*************************

Kumori could feel it the one he was searching for. He could feel her magic he would never for get what the magic of Merlin felt like. However her magic felt somewhat different, like she was she was a specialist mage, but what bothered him was he could also feel two very powerful forces with her. Magical yes, but it was a magic that he wasn't familiar with. It definitely wasn't Merlin's magic, nor was it the magic of some the other great wizards. "Could this be Clow Reed's magic?" He mumbled to himself. His one regret in life was that he never did get a chance to face that powerful magician before he was trapped in the void by Merlin, but maybe he could face one of his descendants. No, somethingstarted gnawing at him it wasn't Reed, it wasn't any other wizard, magician, sorcerer, or mystic it was something totally different. Well, in the end it wouldn't matter he would kill them too. There was no one on Earth that could withstand him, and he would never be returned to the void again.

*************************

As Chijin continued to eat her lunch with her two new friends she felt it an incredible evil magic. She uttered a single word. "Kumori." Minako and Makoto both looked at the smaller girl. "What did you say Chijin?" Minako asked as Chijin's face took on a very serious look. "I was just thinking out loud about something, but it's nothing important." The sand-blonde replied. The two girls decided to let the issue drop for the time, but because of their experience as Senshi they had a feeling that she was being less than truthful. The lunch break soon ended and the three girls headed back to the gym with the rest of their group. The instructor broke the group up again but this time she had all of the experienced players face off one against each other, and the remaining ones watch the game. As the game progressed Makoto noticed that Chijin seemed distracted by something. This began to worry to the tall brunet she'd seen this same look on Rei's face on a number of occasions. Makoto started to get an uneasy feeling in her gut she knew this feeling all too well something bad was about to happen the only problem was she wasn't sure when it was going to. The game ended with Minako serving an ace to win it the winning congratulated themselves as the losing team did likewise. Just before one of the instructors was about to start something a loud explosion shook the ground. Several of the girls were knocked off their feet then seconds later came a second explosion, and then a third. Minako and Makoto looked at each other instinctively knowing that something evil was a foot. The two girls knew that they had to find a way to separate themselves from the rest of the group, and they got that chance when the lights suddenly went out. Most of the girls were yelling and screaming in a frenzied panic while the instructors were trying to keep some kind of order. Minako and Makoto were following the bleachers, but soon they found themselves in a still fully lit gym. There was a dome of darkness just behind them. "What the hell is going on here?" A perplexed Makoto grumbled. "I wish I had a clue love but I don't." Minako stated equally as confused by what she was seeing. She had seen a lot of strange things in her time as both Sailor V and Sailor Venus but she had never seen anything like this before. A fourth explosion again rocked the gym but this one sounded closer than the last three. "How come we never get any down time without something screwing it up? Well what it is it's gonna pay!" Makoto said as she withdrew her henshin stick. Minako followed suit. Chijin saw her two friends take out their henshin sticks from the second she met the two she could feel their power it was magic but a magic that she had never felt before, and what happened next took the young Spectramancer by complete surprise. "Venus Crystal Power, Makeup." Minako yelled as a golden light surrounded her body and then the Sailor Senshi of Love, Sailor Venus, stood in her place. "Jupiter Crystal Power, Makeup." Makoto then yelled and lightening surrounded her body, and then she became the Senshi of Thunder, Sailor Jupiter. "Come on partner lets get this over with." Sailor Venus said to Jupiter. "I'm right with you girlfriend." Jupiter replied as the two girls left the gym together. 'Minako, and Makoto are Sailor Senshi? So, that was the power I felt from them. Maybe I might just survive the day after all.' Chijin thought to herself as she went to join her friends.

*************************

When Sailors Venus and Jupiter got outside they noticed four very large smoking craters in the ground but they couldn't see the cause of them. There senses were on high alert. They were looking for anything out of the ordinary. "Minako, Makoto, it's me he wants. He wants to kill off all the descendants of Merlin and he wants to start with me the last direct female in Merlin's line." The two Senshi turned around at hearing that voice. They couldn't believe what they saw it was Chijin but only now she was wearing a gray, and red striped kimono. "I know your secret I saw you two transform into Senshi. Looks like I wasn't the only one keeping secrets." She said in a monotone voice. The two Senshi were at a loss for words. "Did you say Merlin? As in the magician?" Minako asked stumbling over her words. Chijin told the two Senshi all about her lineage and that due to the fact that Merlin was so powerful at magic that all of his descendants also had magic to one degree or another. She also told them that she was a Spectramancer a wizard that specialized in the magic of manipulating light and that she had caused the dome of darkness in the gym so nobody would see her leave. "What's causing this?" Sailor Venus asked. "His name is Kumori, he's the offspring of a demon and a warlock, or so the legends say. He fought against Merlin and lost being trapped inside of a magic mirror, but the mirror has been shattered and he is once again free to roam the Earth. The only way to stop him is to trap inside the mirror again, but as I said the mirror is shattered, so there is no way to stop him now." Chijin sounded defeated. Jupiter gently put her hand on Chijin's shoulder and smiled at her. "No, that is where you're wrong together we'll find a way." Venus added in her agreement. "You know like they always say where there's a drill, there's a weight." Chijin laughed. "It's where there's a will there's a way Minako." She corrected. Kumori looked down at the threesome and smiled. It was her the last female descendant of Merlin, and the two other magic users he felt. 'Good now they all die.' Kumori thought to himself as he slowly made his way down to the ground. Chijin suddenly snapped her head skywards. "He's coming." She said as Venus and Jupiter followed her gaze. They saw a roughly man-sized object descend from the sky. Jupiter grinned "Let's hit him before he's ready." She said as the antenna on her tiara rose and lightening began to roll around it. "Supreme Thunder." She yelled as a bolt of lightening shot out from her tiara towards the demi-demon. The attack found it's mark, but it only seemed to stop him for a few seconds. Then he started diving towards the ground at a blinding speed. Before any of the girls could blink Kumori was on the ground. "At last I have found you, Chijin descendant of Merlin. I see you managed to find some allies too bad now they must die too." He spoke in his hollow voice. Jupiter and Venus looked at each other then at Kumori. "Bring it on." Makoto said in a challenging manner. "Many have tried but none have succeeded." Venus finished her partner's challenge. This just made Kumori laugh. He started to speak arcane words. Sailor Jupiter could feel the charge of electricity beginning to build in the air as the demon spoke. "He's going to use a lightning attack." She warned her friends. This made Kumori stop in the middle of his spell casting. "An electormancer damnit I can't use any electricity attacks against them, unless I take her out first." He growled. He then started uttering a new spell. "Oh no you don't!" Venus yelled. "Venus Love Me Chain." She called forth her attack. A chain of light energy wrapped itself around Kumori's legs and with a yank from the Senshi of Love the demon was flat on his face. Jupiter pressed the advantage. "Jupiter Oak Evolution." She cried as electrically charged oak leaves shot out towards the demon. Exploding on impact. But, when the smoke cleared Kumori was back on his feet. "You're quite powerful electormancer, that spell would have killed a lesser opponent, but I am immortal." He laughed. "Damnit, I think were in trouble. Chijin you never said he couldn't be killed." Jupiter yelled fearing that this time they would loose. "No, but I told you it was hopeless." She retorted. "Nothing is ever hopeless." Venus shouted back. Before anybody had time to react Kumori was standing toe to toe with Jupiter. He hit her with a kick that sent her flying into a near by cherry tree. Her body went limp the second it hit the ground, and she just laid their in a heap. "JUPITER! NO!" Venus cried at the top of her lungs as she ran over to her downed partner. Again the demon just laughed. "She didn't have to die if she would have just stayed out of my way." Kumori said as he looked down at the fallen Senshi. Venus now an emotional wreck sat down beside her girlfriend and cried. "Jupiter please say something, oh lord please be alive. Mako-chan you can't die don't leave me alone." She continued to cry out, as tears poured down her cheeks like rainwater, her anguish all she was able to feel at the moment. Almost as if Venus's silent prayer was answered she heard Jupiter groan. 'Thank heaven she's alive.' Venus thought to herself relieved that her soulmate was still alive. Venus was so distracted by her worry over Jupiter that she failed to notice that Kumori was again chanting the words to a spell. "Venus close your eyes." She heard Chijin's voice. She then heard Chijin start to chant as well, and then she heard Kumori yell and grunt about his eyes. "Come on Minako if you do know of a way to defeat Kumori then we need to regroup." Chijin spoke. Venus then helped the groggy Jupiter to her feet and the three took off to discuss a new plan of attack.

*************************

The furthest the three could get with Venus helping Jupiter stay on her feet was behind one of the dorm buildings. Venus sat her partner down and propped her against the building. "What did you do to Kumori?" Sailor Venus asked. "I told you I'm a Spectramancer so I created a blinding flash of light to help us get away from him, but he'll recover soon. How's Makoto?" Chijin asked. "I'll live good thing we Senshi heal fast, but it's still going to take a few minutes before I'm back to normal." She grimaced. "Try not to move babe." Venus said as she gently laid a hand on her girlfriend's shoulder. All three had one thought on their mind and that was grim this situation looked. Chijin had hopped that her friends would have enough power to somehow stop the demon, but she doubted it. What she didn't tell them was that her dad had used his magic to alter things so he would wind up in Tokyo, so he could study these near legendary heroines the Sailor Senshi. In truth her father had known that Kumori would eventually escape his prison and would come looking for him and his daughter, so he wanted to try get the Senshi's help in battling him. Well, now the demon was breathing down her neck, and the Senshi were here but the amount of help they had provided thus far didn't seem to be enough. It seemed like they could only help delay the inevitable. "Minako where are the other Senshi?" Chijin asked hoping that the others were somewhere near by. "Sorry Chijin they're not with us, Moon, Sirius, and Vulcan are all back home, Mercury is out of the country, Mars is at a Shinto convention on Hokkaido island, and it's anybody's guess as to where Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto are. We're all you've got." Venus stated dryly. At this point even Venus had to admit that things didn't look good. "Only if you were all here then we might have a chance." Chijin said defeated. "As long as we're alive we have a chance." Sailor Jupiter said as she slowly got to her feet. She was still a little shaky and when Venus asked if she was ok Jupiter just responded that she would be all right.

Kumori roared as he waited for the effects of the flash of light to wear off. "Damn her, I will take her head as my trophy." He said as refocused himself on finding the threesome. He could tell that they were close but what bothered him was the one that he had injured he could feel her life force growing stronger again. 'Seems like these new adversaries can heal themselves, I must kill them off quickly then.' The demon thought as he took to the air to find his prey. It didn't take him long to find them. He smiled and chanted the words to a fireball spell. Sailor Venus noticed the incoming attack at the last possible second, and got both Sailor Jupiter and Chijin out of the way in time. The fireball exploded on impact leaving a smoking crater in its wake. In the next second there seemed to be hundreds of Sailor Venuses, Sailor Jupiters, and Chijins. "What happened?" Jupiter asked seeing the illusions as well. "It's an illusion Makoto it's the best idea I could think of to buy us some more time." Chijin answered as ice, fire and lightening was attacking the illusions. "I doubt he'll be fooled for long Chijin." Venus said. Chijin didn't say anything. "Wait I think I know how we can stop him." Chijin said at last. "The source of your powers. I maybe able to make use of them." That was all she could get out before her illusions all disappeared. "Venus Love and Beauty Shock." Venus said as heart shaped energy surrounded her and then she blew a kiss and a heart shot towards the demon. Kumori thought that this was yet another illusion, but was proven wrong when it impacted on him. "So the one in orange, she's no ordinary Spectramancer." He said as landed on the ground. The attack managed to stun him just briefly. "Chijin what do you mean our sources of power?" Jupiter asked. "The items you transformed with I may be able to use those to stop Kumori." She said sounding desperate. "I thought you only knew light magic." Venus said as she pulled out her henshin stick and handed it to Chijin Jupiter did the same. "Yes, I'm a Spectramancer but that only means I specialize in light magic, but I have some limited general magic." She answered as she took both henshin sticks and placed one in each hand. Kumori was now approaching the threesome. "I hope you are all ready for the next life, and Chijin say hello to Merlin for me when you meet him." Chijin paid no attention to the demon as she was concentrating on her spell. Jupiter and Venus took up a defensive posture in front of Chijin to try and buy her all the time that they could. Kumori also started to chant words to a spell, but Chijin finished hers first. Both of the Senshi could feel it a power start to come out of their henshin sticks. Lightning and Gold Light mixed and shot towards the Kumori who had stopped chanting his own spell when he realized what Chijin was doing. The combined effects of Chijin's magic with the Senshi's own power had opened up a dimensional rift and the demon was now being pulled into it. He knew that he couldn't stop it, but he'd be damned if he went down alone. He grabbed onto Sailor Venus and she too was being pulled into the rift. An enraged Jupiter grabbed Venus's legs trying desperately to keep her partner, her soulmate from being sucked in. It was beginning to look hopeless when a voice came from out of the void. "Kumori you've lost again." The male voice spoke. Kumori's eyes went wide with shock. "No, it can't be you're dead! Merlin's dead!" Kumori shouted as a white light surrounded him he lost his grip on the Senshi of Love, and then disappeared into the rift. "Oh and Kumori say hi to Raistlin to for me." Chijin said as she closed the rift. Finally it was over at least for a time hopefully forever. "Is it over?" The two Senshi asked at the same time. "Yes, I trapped Kumori in the Abyss, and with luck he'll never find his way out." Chijin said as then collapsed to the ground. The two Senshi ran over to her concerned for their new friend. "You ok?" Venus asked. "Yes, I'm just tired I've never tried a spell that complex before." The two Senshi just looked at each other but decided to say nothing. Instead they headed back to their room so they could get some rest.

*************************

After all was said and done nobody remembered a thing. When Kumori was trapped in the Abyss all the damage that he did was repaired and all anybody knew Chijin had just come down with a minor case of vertigo, and needed some time to rest. When, Makoto and Minako asked how that had happened Chijin told that Merlin had a small hand in that. The rest of the Volleyball Camp went without a hitch. A new friendship was formed and a new ally found, so all in all the trip had been worth it after all. When Makoto and Minako got back home they introduced Chijin to the rest of the Inner Senshi and told them all about the encounter with Kumori. Then Makoto and Minako broke the happier news about their relationship. It seemed as though everyone was expecting it, and they all congratulated the two and wished them the best of luck. Chijin no longer found herself as the stranger in a strange land she had friends now, good and true friends that loved her for who she was, and that meant the world to her.

THE END
