Open a picture/graphic in PSP and click on the layertool(the red and
blue rectangle on top of the toolbar) On the screen that appears, push the add-layer button(on the topleft, also with two rectangles)Add one new layer and call that layer "mask" then hit ok.(if you get an error at this point, you probably don't have your colors set correctly, the thing to do then is:colors-increase color depth-16 million colors) Make sure your masklayer is selected(blue, active) Now we're going to use the mask: Press:mask-load from disk, and browse to your maskfolder.(you can make a separate folder for it on your harddrive, preferably in C:Program Files:PSP6:masks) Click on your mask and open it.Then:mask-view mask, then you get to see the red film over your picture, the red part stays covered but the other part you can floodfill with any color, texture or picture(you can also try this with the background you made in lesson 1 When the results are to your liking press:mask-delete,press when they ask if you want your layers merged. Finally press:layers-merge all-flatten.And save your picture. part 2: you can also apply a mask directly to a graphic without adding a new layer, this will make part of your pic dissappear mysteriously ;o)Depen- ding on the effect your looking for here, you can also invert your mask to make the other part disappear instead(mask-invert).This effect looks very nice and if you copy and paste this as a new selection onto a nice background you have instant pretty stationery. That's it,have fun! |
