Connor is a Maine Coon Cat. He was born 6/22/00. His father died suddenly at the age of 3 (about 6 months after Connor's birth) and we suspected HCM. I began taking Connor to a cardiologist when he was one year old. It was determined he had a grade two murmur and I was told he was a candidate to develop HCM. At age two Connor was diagnosed with HCM and he was put on Atenolol. He did well on Atenolol for over a year.
Unfortunately, Connor was diagnosed with asthma and he had to be weaned off of Atenolol because it is known to aggravate asthma. He was being treated with prednisone for the asthma. The prednisone caused Connor to go into congestive heart failure. It was a scary couple of weeks, but we did pull him through. Connor is doing well and is currently taking 1/2-30 mg Diltiazem 2x a day, 1/2-2.5 mg Enalalpril daily, 12.5 mg Lasix daily, and low dose enteric coated Aspirin 2x a week. He is also receiving 1 puff 110 Flovent 2x a day for Asthma.
