Words from the Author: many people wanted me to make a shippier fic. I decided that I would give the conclusion of "camouflaged" happy ending. The fic that I am working on now will also be shippy for the shipper's I know.
Spoilers: Field Trip, Millenium.
Rated: PG-13
Inside Scully's thoughts: "It had long occured to me that somehow, my
halucination of Sarah is somehow still solving my puzzle. The lion that attacked
me was all wrong, but with the blood all over me it seems real; somehow the lion
attacking me was a halucination with a real effect, an effect without a cause.
Impossible.
I also understand why Ralph was sick. Sarah thought of him because he was the
one talking to her. What I don't understand is why it was the first person that
Ralph got mad at to get sick. It seems so random to me, but then again maybe it
is because of the person being crazy, moody.
I am trapped. Alone. Somehow camouflaged inside a wall. I cannot halucinte
myself out. Worst of all, I am dying. I didn't believe Sarah who is laying by
me, almost dead herself now. I want to save her. Most of all, somehow as I
breathe my last breaths into the world, I must save Mulder, though I will
probably die on my way of the journey. I hear him all the time, I feel all the
secrets he shared with me, everything we worked wth together. I have never loved
him like this before. If I could see him one more time before I go and he
dies...please. I want one more moment."
All of her thinking stopped. She saw Sarah with her hand reaching out for
Scully. She seemd to be being pulled away...farther from her. She pulled Sarah's
hand, but the force was to strong. As Sarah, screaming was pulled away she
seemed to disapear completely from the wall. It was strange, seeming like
Sarah's spirit was sucked out of the wall adter her body. Scully couldn't tell
what was going on, and as tears dropped from her eyes, she continued thinking.
"As I lay here now, bleeding on the floor with a feeling of death inside me,
I hear Mulder calling me. I long to talk to him face to face, tell him somehow
that I hear him, that I miss him and that I will try my best to save him. I feel
it somehow, I am talking to Mulder without words."
(opening Theme!)
"Agent Scully?"
Voices were yelling for Scully all over the house where she disapeared. She
didn't recognize anyone.
"Scully?"
Then she heard Skinner saying, "We're wasting our time here," he breathed
deeply, "lets's go."
"I'm here!" she wanted to scream out to them, but it was a time experiencing
not being able to have people understand, in an echoey room where no one sees
you.
"Let's not go Mr. Skinner!" she heard someone yell, she recognized the voice,
it was the same person that had yelled "Agent Scully" upstairs to her.
Scully got a chill. She shivered, all the way down her spine. She heard it.
A gun-shot.
Skinner had been shot.
Scully began to cry, it was her fault. All her fault. Skinner was shot
because of her being stuck in the wall, and thnking first of the person who
called her name, who went crazy. And the first person who he got mad at was
Skinner. skinner was now shot, and deathly ill with a crazy disease, and it was
her fault of thinking of that person first.
But why didn't it work on Sarah?Maybe because Sarah was in the wall that when
Scully thought of her, she wouldn't go crazy. Mulder was already sick, so it
didn't matter when she thought of him first.
"Help!" she heard Skinner yell. He wasn't shot. She was relieved. "You
idiot!" he took out his gun. He was crazy now.
Scully was relieved. She thought that Skinner had been shot.
Skinner ran upstairs from the people trying to shoot him. Scully heard
another shot fired.
But she heard no sound come out of Skinner's mouth.
Mulder lay in his bed in the hospital. He had white covers over his body of the
bed. All of the machines on his chest counting his beats were uncomfortable. He
could barely hear the ticks and tocks of the clock, and the long, slow ::beep::
of his heart-rate machine.
And he almost completely didn't hear the voice of someone yell "we're loosing
him!"
The sound of an earthquake boomed. The walls where Scully was inside were
shaking. They seemed to crash. suddenly Skinner fell into the wall. He had a
bullet in his arm. His mouth was open, but it appeared to Scully that it hurt
hims so much that no sound came out.
Scully rolled up his sleeve and put her hand over the blood, and examined it.
She took out the bullet. She guessed that Skinner had been halucinating, and
lead up to the top of the stairs to the bench.
Scully was finally able to stand up, and so was Skinner, who took out a gun
and aimed it at Scully's head.
Scully was relieved, both at her and him. "So I guess you learned the whole
story of why you and me are here?"
Skinner didn't say anything, as Scully waited for a response. He just kicked
scully against the wall. She tripped, and fell over. Skinner jumped on her,
pinning her down to the grown. He pulled out a gun, and aimed it at her head.
"We need backup here, immediately!" People were yelling. "Shock him!" "Ready,
go!" They put deffibrulator on his chest and did a cardioversion. His heart
began to beat again.
And then the most unnexpected happened: Mulder's eyes opened and he got up,
out of bed.
"Mulder? Are you ok?"
He felt a little light-headed. "I'm ok now." Scully had thought of someone
else, and Mulder was no longer crazy. "But Scully isn't. I dreamt about her in
my sleep."
"Mulder???--"
"I am leaving to go find her."
"Do you want to put a shirt on first?"
Mulder realized how over-stressed they thought he was, so he quickly put on a
shirt and tie that they let him borrow. Then he set off to find Scully in the
house.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't shoot you now, Scully," Skinner said.
Scully answered, nervously for being at gun-tip with her Assistant Director.
"Skinner, I didn't do anything!--"
"Yes you did and you know it!" He was talking very quickly. "I was the first
person you thought of! I'm crazy now, and I am near death like mulder! You are a
murderer!"
Scully asumed that he halucinated and saw Sarah who explained the whole thing
to him. "Skinner, you're crazy. You're taking this over the road, way over the
road! I did think of you but I didn't have a choice!" But then scully
remembered. "Skinner I didn't think of you!" her nervousness had made her
forget. "I thought of that other guy, who said my name. He thought of you!" She
then thought about how unspecific and funny they each sounded, if someone didn't
know what they were talking about. She would have chuckled if she wasn't at
gun-point, and she knew very well that skinner knew what she meant.
"Scully I am going to shoot you. Say your good-byes. I'm giving you 20
seconds."
"What in the world happened to Skinner?" said one of the cops named Telae.
"I don't know," another cop replied, let's go look.
"You leave the business to me, buster!" said Talae.
"Telae this is our case, can't I help?"
"No!"
Skinner put his gun away. "Please forgive me Scully." he said. "I was crazy."
"You worried me sir," scully said, whiping her eyes. She tried to be
understanding. "No one can blame you. You had the crazy problem."
"Oh shoot!"Skinner said.
"What is it sir?" Scully asked him. someone anxious.
"Did you hear that? I am better because I thought of the first man that said
something. He is coming up to look for us now! He'll think of something and more
and more people are going to get sucked into the wall. We have to stop this!"
Scully sighed. "Yes sir we do," she told him, "We really do."
But there were so many problems that each of them could see. How were they
going to escape? How would they destroy the wall? And what happened to Sarah?
Why was she sucked out of the wall?
Scully remembered Mulder though. Someone else was chosen to be sick. As
Scully shed her last tear, she felt the sweetest feeling: Mulder was free, from
the sickness, at last.
Phedes sat in his desk, shoulders heavy.
Tied up at the end of the room, to a chair was Sarah.
"You idiot!" he said to her. "What did you tell her?"
She was crying of fear. "I just told Scully the truth, what you really did."
"Did you tell her how to destroy the wall?" Phedes asked, with an evil grin.
"Sir, I don't know how to destroy the wall," Sarah replied, looking at him
like she it was completely ruled over him.
"Good," he said. "And now Scully knows who I am and why I created the
machine. She's an FBI agent. Surely she'll arrest me when she gets the chance."
Scully and Skinner each felt themselves being sucked out from inside the wall.
They were roughly shaking out of the wall, very uncomfortably.
They both had their guns raised for caution, to see what was going on.
"Drop your weapons!" they heard. It was Phedes. He too, had his gun raised.
Scully stepped forward "Phedes no! You're under a rest!" she said. she didn't
otice he had his gun raised. He shot her in the shoulder once. She fell over on
the ground.
Mulder parked his car. He got out and walked into the house in the middle of the
woods. He didn't hve his gun with him, so he hoped he wouldn't need it. He
kicked open the door, un-armed.
Cops were all over. "Who are you?" they asked him.
He remembered that he didn't have his ID. "Shoot!" he thought. "I'm with the
FBI. I'm Dana Scully's Partner," he said.
"Could I see some identification?" the cop asked him.
Mulder stood there, looking upstairs. He took a run for it.
The cop pulled out his gun. "Stop!" he said. He fired but missed.
Mulder was determind to find Scully, no matter what it would take.
He was stopped by being sucked into a wall.
Skinner shot Phedes in the arm. He dropped his gun, startled.
"Tell us how to destroy the machine," he ordered.
"That wasn't why I brought you guys here, skinner."
"Tell me or I'll shoot!" he yelled.
"Blow up the building," he said.
"Will whoevers in the wall come out, alive?"
"Yes," said Phedes.
Skinner took out handcuffs and arested Phedes. He called paramedics for
Scully.
Mulder was in the wall, with Telae. "Who are you?" Telae asked him.
"I should be asking you," Mulder said, "I'm with the FBI I'm looking for
Scully.
"So was I."
"Where am I?" Mulder asked him, looking around.
"You fell into the wall Sarah fell in to. We're both stuck here for life
time, unless someone destroys the wall."
Skinner dragged Scully across the table to the ambulance. He realized then: It
was up to him to destroy the wall. He had to quickly, before it took more people
in and more lives were lost.
He untied Sarah. "Come with me," he said. "I need your help to destroy the
wall."
"Dana?"
Scully's eyes opened. It was her mother.
"Dana? Are you ok?"
Scully lay motionless. "She's going to be ok," said the nurse, who was just
walking in the room. "She hsn't been talking much but her tests sa that she'll
be fine. We're giving her medicine. She's healing quickly. She'll be able to go
home in a few days.
Her mother looked relieved. She hugged Scully and sat by her bed for the day.
Skinner walked out of Phedes' house. His car was still by the house in the
middle of the woods. He hiked with Sarah to go get it. The problem was that he
didn't know where to gind a bomb.
"Where can I get a bomb?" he asked Sarah, reliably, as he pulled out of his
"parking-space" in the middle of the woods.
"Well, I have some astrolite. We could use that."
"Why do you keep astrolite? In your house?"
"It's not at my house. I just know where it is. We are going to need to steel
it from this secret military group I know of. Actually, this whole thing lead up
to the wall. My job is a detective. I was trying to figure out what this group
was keeping secret, and I got a little to close. They are planning secret bombs
to destroy buildings. I didn't know why, but they allmost noticed me so I ran
out in the woods. I ran until I reached the house. That's when I ran into the
wall."
"That's quite a story Sarah...Detective--?"
"Sarah is fine," she said. She took Skinner by the hand.
"What? What is it?" he asked.
She lead him to the car. She drove him to the secret military place, which
was right next by.
"Assistant Director Skinner, I just want you to know that when we go in here
you must be quiet at all times. If they here us, we are going to be dead meat.
Please try to be quiet, try to be unnoticed," Sarah told him.
"Ok," he said.
She opened the door.
"So, how do we try to get someone to destoy the stupid wall?" Mulder asked
Telae.
"I don't know," Telae said, "but Scully was stuck here. Phedes told me."
"Where is she? Is she ok?"
"She's been shot," he said sadly. "I was crazy a minute ago. i'm better now.
Whoever I think of first out of the wall..."
"I know! I know how it works! I know everything. All I care about now is
Scully!"
"She's not doing well. Her nurses have been commanded by Phedes to not take
care of her, and tell everyone she's doing fine so they won't try to save her.
They'll let her die if we don't save her."
Mulder sighed. It was like they just switched places. First she was in the
wall and he was in the hospital: and the wall surely would keep switching them
until they were gone if it could. Someone would hve to save them. Fast. "How do
you know this?"
"I can't tell you or Phedes will kill me."
"He doesn't have to know!"
Telae sighed. "There's a secret government group that Phedes has forced me to
work for. They have a fierce, deadly plan, that could cost the lives of
thousands. There are several problems: These people aren't exactly human. They
are extrodinary. They can grow there body parts really long. the name of the
group is 'De Peirnes Largos' For now, just don't let anyone see them, or more
lives could be lost."
And then it occured to Mulder that now Scully was crazy too. He had almost
killed her by thinking of her.
Skinner and Sarah walked into the house. Sarah put her finger to her lips, is a
"shh!" position.
They closed the door, as quiet as possible. "This way," Sarah whispered.
They walked into the next room, around where the meeting was.
"So, after we rob the bank, let's put the bomb in it to destroy our
fingerprints," Said Virdy Massalatta, instructor of the secret group. "I just
found out how to make this bomb that is very, very powerful." He would have
reached it, but he had to see where it was.
He got up, and walked slowly to where Skinner and Sarah were.
"Dana, it's ok," said Scully's mom, Margarett. "The nurses say that you'l l be
ok."
But Scully's eyes remained closed.
Margarett sighed.
The beeping on her heart rate started to stop beating, jump, occasionally.
"Nurse!" "Her rate stopped!"
A nurse walked into the room. She stared at Margarett. She just stood there,
staring.
"He's coming!" Sarah whisered.
"Is there a way out?"
"There isn't! it's a dead end. Take the bomb!"
And then, they each saw him. Slowly walking towards them, closer, slower,
closer...
And Skinner pulled out his gun...
The rage and fright through both Sarah and Skinner was so strong, they both
felt eachother. The owrds repeated through eah of there head sharing eahother's
thoughts...: "We're trying to help, you murderer! Your secret has caused
lives..."
Then his legs grew long. Really long. And he was suddenly a tall giant, as
tall as the high ceiling. He was moving quickly, faster than almost anyone
towards them...
And one shot was fired.
"Are you just going to stand there! my daughter's dying!"
The lady was in tears, crying her harder and harder. "I know," she said, "I
know."
The door in the hallway barned open. "Just what did you think you're doing?"
a cop roared.
And coming right after him was Phedes, with handcuffs on.
"You murderer! You created the wall! the wall that Scully's in!"
It was Ralph, with Phedes under arrest.
"Why did you create the wall? And let me show you what you did to Mulder.
That's why I brought you here!" Ralph was a bit out of date.
"Sir!" said Mrs. Scully, "my daughter made it out. She's on the bed, dying.
The nurse clapped her hands and ran over to the bed to help Scully. Phedes
was under arrest, and she now had her chance to do her job without being under
Phedes' power.
Virdil fell over.
The other people in the group rushed, after the shot they had heard. they ran
to where it came from.
"Stand where you are!" Skinner yelled, "I'm armed!"
"You know, Mister Skinner, we can see that," said one of the men, walking up
to him.
"I said to stay where you are! I am ite capable of pulling this trigger! i
know you can grow your legs wrong, and we are trying to save two FBI agents'
lives. We need your bomb to save there lives. We don't want to shoot you, and we
recommend that you stop doing whatever you have planned."
"Ah hah! And how did you know that we had something planned?" Skinner didn't
know what to say.
"Because she told you, you little spy! You're a detective for a living, huh.
Sarah...I heard about you! I saw your picture in the paper, from disapearing!
Well listen up," he paused, and he began to back away, and make his arm grow
longer, "you're disapearing again!"
And he ducked behind the wall and grabbed Sarah.
Skinner ran out of the house to save Mulder.
He drove to the house with the bomb in his car. He got there so fast, he
couldn't believe it.
He found a wagon, sitting there for him. He wondered what it was doing, but
it occured to him that maybe the wall was on his side, now that Phedes wasn't as
powerful in jail.
He rolled the bomb onto the wagon and woved it into the building. He got out
his gun. "I need this building evacuated now! Everyone out!
He put the bomb in the building. Everyone ran out of the house. Skinner had
an Assistant director sign on him, with his badge taped to it.
He set the bomb to go off in 5 minutes.
"Everyone, run away from the building!" he said. Then he ran out, and ran
with them.
The nurse ran over to Scully, but her breathing had stopped. She had failed.
"So, Sarah, no more spying! Whatever rumors you have been spreading, stop! As
you know that I am not human..."he paused. He seemed to be concentrating,
cpnsentration on growing hi arm longer. "I will end you life, say your prayers.
Tomorrow morning is the is the last morning you'll ever see."
The bomb exploded. The ashes were all over, fire everywhere.
"Come with me!" sid Skinner.
As everyone ran, it was to there surprise that Scully wasn't there. Only
Mulder, and Telae.
"Where's Scully?" they asked.
"Well, she isn't crazy anymore. she's ok."
Skinner understood that he had t hought of her. "But still she has been shot,
twice!"
"She has?"
"Yes she' in the hospital. And Sarah has been held captive by a group, a
secret group..."
"De Peirnas Largos," Mulder said.
To the doctor surprise, Scully began to breathe again, and her heart started up. The wall had
been destroyed, and Scully's sickness had gone away. She had a pain in her
shoulder, but she opened her eyes.
She saw her shoulder. It had a cast on it. She was dressed in a blue,
hospital dress.
"Her eyes are open!" the nurse yelled. She was surprised as well that all she
did was put a cast on her shoulder.
Margarett ran over to her, more tears streaming down her face.
"Dana, are you ok?"
"I'm feeling weak," she said, "but I'm ok."
Mulder, Skinner,
and all the other cops (including Telae) all took there cars to the place where
Sarah was captive. Skinner drove, as they followed him in there cars.
They arrived, and everyone pulled a gun out. They entered, posed to shoot
whoever got near them.
"FBI!" Mulder yelled, gun pointed. "Let her go or we'll shoot!"
"All yours," said the guard.
Mulder took Sarah. "Are you ok?"
She was trembling, but she nodded.
The cops arrested the group.
After Scully typed her thesis to the investigation on the computer, she got into bed, thinking about Mulder. She was so concerned about him, and she had nothing to do. She didn't know what to do, because she didn't know what was going on while she was in the hospital. She went to bed with an empty feeling inside.
Scully was up, sitting at her computer, e-mailing Skinner about Mulder. She was about to go out and look for him, when there was a knock on her door. She looked through the door hole. It was Mulder.
She answered it quickly. "You're ok?!" She said, and asked him at the same
time.
He nodded, smiling. They hugged, and he walked in.
"I'm so glad you're ok!"" Scully said. "I've worried so much about you!"
"Same with me for you!" he said, and then he bent over and kissed her on her
lips, hugging her at the same time with a love-tune rythym.
When they finally let go, Mulder told Scully that he was so glad that she was
ok.
They hugged, and walking hand-in-hand, they walked out the door together, for
the first time in so long, at last. After the wall had camouflaged them for so
long, they felt free at last. And as they walked out, they each thought of what
a time they had, and how much they had to tell eachother. As alone as they felt
sometimes, they had eachother forever. Forever, and never to end. Never End.
Terminus Jamais.
