kitimat sucks ass but here's a list of the best bands from that alumupit---1. CASTRATED TURNIP-two drunked idiots with a drum machine.Great homegrown punk and some of the best RAMONES covers ever recorded.How could you go wrong? Especially when they were ne of the very few bands playing punk rock in 1991. Hats off to the Turnips.--2. SDFS-- a band born from the ashes of Castrated Turnip but MUCH better musically. Although not as original as Turnip,ASSMAN and his crew belted out the pop-punk like no other BUY THEIR DEBUT C.D.-- Anotomically Incorect-- it's well worth it. That infamous album includes such ass hugging hits as "Cadet" "Lollipops, cigarette butts, and clitorises" and "Hard on For Love" (complete with an obscure reference to ex-Castrated Turni guitar idiot Uncle Ian) 3.-THE REJECTED--- undoubtedly Northern B.C.'s best-ever hard-core punk rock band (although not really very "hard core"--more of a "hard pop core" band) These guys were a joy to see live and it's hard to believe that they were ALL former metal-heads!PUNK PUNK PUNK!!!! 4.--NUTBOY-- I never really heard much of a difference between NUTBOY and THE REJECTED (both bands fronted by Jason Parkes) but Nutboy was definitly more driven and refined. Hear them on the "30 OUNCES OF PUNK" comp lation from IDENTITY RECORDS--great song from a great band.

SDFS is undoubtedly the best "real band" to come outta Kitimat since Nailed To Your Face,although some pretty good "half assed" bands have emerged throughout the years. Iam of course referring to the now-legendary CASTRATED TURNIP-a punk rock band well a ead of it's time.This collection of small town superstars played their own brand of punk music ( with the odd RAMONES cover ) when it was completely "uncool" to do so. Ignoring hissing and threats of death from the locals they forged on, recording three f ll-length albums and the greatest live album ever recorded in the tiny town.As Explosive to see on stage as they were in person, Castrated Turnip and it's legion of die-hard followers will always be around, somewhere.
