“First
Things First”
The “First Things
First” Foundation is an organization ran by Kurt Warner, former Rams Super Bowl
MVP Quarterback, and was established by Kurt Warner as his way of giving back
to the community. It started in the Spring of 2001, a year after he won his
first super bowl, in the city of St.
Louis. He started Warner’s Warm-up, a coat drive he
started to help those who are poor and in need of a coat in the winter. He made
visits to Cardinal
Glennon Hospital
to pass out “Baskets of Hope” to all the sick patients. Another thing he did
when he started out was a Kick, Punt, Pass for the kids in Special Olympics. He
started a “We’re Going to Disney World!” trip in 2002 with the Make-a-Wish
foundations to send a family with Kurt Warner to Disney World. He also
developed the Home for the Holidays program that help families who can not
afford a home be able to have their own home. Many other programs that Warner
has started was the ticket program, allowing kids who could never afford to go
to a game a chance to go to one and they also receive free First Things First
gear, created fun zones in hospitals for children recovering from serious
diseases, and established Team F.U.N. (Fundamentals U Need), were the goal was
for each child in the program to fulfill their attendance, grade, and behavior
requirements.
This organization
is an organization of faith is because in all their different outreaches their
goal is to spread Christian values to those they are witnessing to. Kurt wanted
to give hope to those in need and let them no to never give up in life
