I Believe: Never Giving Up
When I was nine
years old, I decided that I wanted to play football. My dad signed me up to
play JFL for the Normandy Vikings. When I started I wasn’t all that good. I was
30 lbs underweight for our weight class and Normandy didn’t have a 9 light team. My
weight caused problems for me as my coaches had me playing defensive tackle,
because I was always being held up and could never get into the backfield and
make any plays. I was starting to think that I should quit football and that I
was no good. I also thought I was too small and was going to end up getting
hurt. After the season was over I started eating more and doing push-ups to get
bigger. The next year I came out 30 pounds heavier than the years before and I
was a lot tougher. They decided to move me to defensive end. Our first game
that year against the City Rec Lions, I had an
awesome game. I was in the backfield creating problems for the quarterback and
I ended the game with over 10 sacks. After that game, I decided that I was
going to keep on playing football and today, in high school, I continue to play
football.
Everyone have
tough times in their life where they are in a situation that seems impossible
to get out of. There comes times when we are in a predicament that it seems
like we can’t make it through. But for those who keep trying when times get
hard for them they become successful in the end.
