Watercolors

A fairly new interest of mine is painting in watercolors. I started a few years ago by taking a non-credit course.  I was taught to trace the image that I wanted to paint onto the paper.  I have learned a lot since then and have decided that the creation didn't feel entirely my own, so I recently started drawing my subjects.  I certainly can use a drawing course, but at least I put myself 100% into the art.  These are a few of my most recent creations.  Some I used Susan Sheewe's books for guidance and reference, some I used a live subject and one I used a photo.

My most recent creation is this painting of my baby girl.  I used a photo and herself as a reference to create this it.  This was my first attempt to paint a human face.

I used one of Susan Sheewe's books to create this daffodil patch.  I find Susan's books to be very helpful since they provide step by step instructions and pictures.  I am giving this one to a friend for her birthday.

I created this simple poinsettia at Christmas time from a live subject.  It was one of my first attempts of drawing instead of tracing.
