Angel Hierarchy
Angels are organized or ranked in terms
of authority and glory and were formed to create order in the angelic world.
There are nine choirs of angels that surround God’s throne.
SERAPHIMS:
Seraphims are the closest to God and considered
to be the highest order of God’s angelic servants. They surround the throne
of God and their essence is love.
CHERUBIM:
God is said to have stationed “East of
Eden the Cherubim and the Ever Turning Sword to guard the way to the Tree
of Life.” The Cherubim are known as God’s record keepers and they help
to execute the Divine Plan. Their essence is knowledge.
THRONES:
According to the old Testament, during
a windstorm, the prophet Ezekial had a vision of a glowing thunderhead
coming from the north. Inside the storm were four human like creatures
each with four faces , wings and hooves. They were accompanied by four
shining wheels and the rims were covered with eyes. The fiery wheels were
the Thrones and their role is to consider the disposition of God’s decisions.
DOMINIONS:
Dominions are heavens executives or the
order givers. They regulate the duties of the other angels and they decide
what needs to be done to accomplish God’s goals. This includes the day
to day orders which help make the universe run smoothly.
VIRTUES:
Drawing on God’s force, the Virtues bestow
blessings from on high, usually in the form of miracles. Also known as
the Brilliant or Shining Ones, they are associated with heroes and those
who struggle in the name of goodness and truth. The Virtues are also said
to instill courage when it’s needed most.
POWERS:
The Powers are also known as Authorities.
They were supposedly the first angels created by God to act as a guard
to the heavenly pathways looking out for diabolical infiltration. Keeping
this balance is difficult but the Powers keep the perfect equilibrium in
the universe.
PRINCIPALITIES:
Principalities were originally in charge
of nations and great cities on Earth. They became the protectors of religion
and protectors of good spirits from attack by evil spirits.
ARCHANGELS:
Once considered the highest rank of angels,
these magnificent seven are the best known of all the angels. The most
famous are Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel. Archangels are Messengers
that carry Divine Decrees. They are considered the most important intermediary
beings between God and mortals.
ANGELS:
The last order and closest to mankind.
The angels are God’s tribe of messengers, guardians and spirits who live
in the hearts of man.
