Part Five: Background

Once you finished working on the figure, it's time to for the background. If you drew it first, then good for you ^__^ (to colour it, just repeat the steps you used on the figure). If you didn't and are planning to do it with photoshop (as in our dearest Mime's case), follow these steps to work more comfortably:

• Go to the almost forgotten background layer and delete it. Yes. bye bye background
• Make sure your background colour is white
• Go to layer --> new --> background (this should give you a new background, completely white)
• Make this background invisible by clicking on the little eye-box on the layers option, next to the background's name.
• Make any other layer be the active one
• Go to layer --> merge visible (all the visible layers will be merged into one, which means you are back to two layers and that will make working on the background a lot more comfortable)
• Make the background visible again by clicking once again on the eye-box
• Make a new layer between these two and start working on the background.

In Mime's case, I used the rectangular marqueé, the paint bucket, the paintbrush, the filter --> texture --> grain --> vertical effect and the blur --> gaussian blur. That's what I get for not drawing the background directly -_- it is a lot easier to work with a drawn background than to actually make it with the program itself (and the results are a lot nicer, but weeeeeell, Mime only needed a prison cell ^_~)
