Dante-Cubed: Guitar Hero

In addition to being an accomplished pianist, I play a bit of guitar as well.

Work in Progress

Please note that I am still learning guitar. I am not as good on guitar as I am on piano. I only started teaching myself around the start 2004. I purchased a Stratocaster in February.

"Self-taught"

Everything I know about piano I pretty much taught myself. I took my first chord (E minor) from a book, but other than that it's all been me. Teaching myself was incredibly easy. Only one problem:

I play left-handed.

I did not have the money to buy a left-handed guitar (hey, my sister has a wedding coming up). This may shock you, but I acutally play it upside-down. You'll be even more shocked to hear that I think this way makes more sense than the "regular" way.

Justification for atrocities

Why do I think playing upside-down makes more sense? It's because it's plain logic. After playing piano for 6 years, I was used to its logic of tones: lowest notes at the bottom, highest at the top. So people expect me to think have the high-pitch strings at the bottom of the guitar?

Demonstrably not.

I would could not stand for it. Eventually I will get a left-handed Stratocaster, but until then it's upside-down logic for me, I guess. Hell, the world needs another Paul McCartney or Jimi Hendrix.
