DEADLINE FOR CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

All conference registration forms are to be submitted by 15th MAY 2000.

 

LATE FEE

A surcharge of 10% on the listed conference registration fee will be levied if registration forms are received after 15th May 2000.

 

CONFERENCE CURRENCY

The conference currency is the Singapore dollar. All payments should be made in the Singapore dollar.

 

IASA/SEAPAVAA MEMBERSHIP

Those who apply for membership of either association before the submission deadline of the conference on 15th May 2000 will be entitled to register at the members’ rate. The membership application forms will be distributed by IASA/SEAPAVAA to all interested applicants during the conference week. In the meantime, please indicate your interest in membership on the conference registration form.

CONFERENCE PROGRAMME


 

CONFERENCE THEME

The conference theme is "A Future for the Past: AV Archiving in the 3rd Millennium". As audiovisual archivists enter their second century, this theme embraces the idea that archivists must always project their thoughts in two directions, backwards and forwards in order to ensure that the work of the past will remain intact for future generations. The conference theme will be explored through a number of sub-themes, which will be addressed over a total of ten single and parallel symposium sessions, and several poster sessions.

 

SYMPOSIUM SESSIONS

Symposium sessions are single sessions unless stated otherwise. Each session will have either three or four papers related to the topic of the session. General Assemblies are closed sessions for IASA and SEAPAVAA members only.

All events are held at the Hotel Inter-Continental Singapore unless otherwise stated.

OTHER CONFERENCE INFORMATION


 

CONFERENCE DESK

A conference desk will be set up at the conference venue, Hotel Inter-Continental Singapore, Level 3, Malacca Room on Sunday 2nd July 2000, from 2pm to 6pm. Overseas participants are requested to collect their conference bags from the desk on that day.

 

TRADE SHOW

Local and overseas vendors will be present to share their audiovisual products and services with conference participants. The trade show will be open to all registered participants throughout the conference week.

 

TRANSPORTATION

Two-way transportation will be provided only for the institutional visits, the visit to the National Archives of Singapore, the National Heritage Board museums’ tour, and the farewell dinner. The embarkation and disembarkation points shall be the lobby of Hotel Inter-Continental.

 

WELCOME COCKTAIL

Welcome cocktail will be held at the Hotel Inter-Continental Singapore. Non-alcoholic beverages will be served. Participants are welcome to purchase alcoholic drinks from the paid bar at their own expense.

 

FAREWELL DINNER

Farewell dinner at the National Archives of Singapore is OPTIONAL for participants. Those interested must indicate their attendance on the conference registration form. The cost of the dinner is S$30 (US$17.65) PER person.

LOCAL SIGHTSEEING

No local tours or sightseeing have been planned for the conference. There are numerous local tours in Singapore and brochures will be provided on interesting places and things to explore in Singapore. Some preliminary information on places of interest in Singapore is available in the section on Country Facts. Packaged day tours can be booked directly with the concierge in the hotel where you are staying.

 

REGIONAL TOURS

Tradewinds Tours and Travel, a subsidiary of the Singapore Airlines, offers a range of tours to countries of the region. Conference participants are welcome to book regional tours with Tradewinds Tours and Travel. All ticket bookings and payment is between the agency and the participant. It is advised that air tickets and regional tours be booked before arrival in Singapore to avoid disappointment. Those interested in regional tours are reminded to check with their embassies regarding the requirements of visa applications.
