Richard "Schatzie" Schwartzenberger, born in Logan County, ND on 31 December 1927, died in Bismarck, ND. on 09 April 1987. Schatzie married Leona Ramona Franz, 1 June 1953 in St. Philip's Church, Napoleon, ND. Leona was born (Private).
Richard Schwartzenberger attended rural schools In Logan County and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1946. He farmed for two years before entering the Army. He served in Germany during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1952. He returned to Napoleon, where he did carpentry with his brother. On 1 June 1953 he married Leona Franz June 1, 1953, in St. Philips Church in Napoleon. In 1957, he became owner and manager of Schatzie Construction. Richard was alderman In Napoleon for 12 years until 1981. In 1983 he was elected mayor, the position he held until his death. He served on the volunteer fire department, the Napoleon ambulance squad, and was chairman of the Napoleon Centennial committee. He was past commander and chaplain of the American Legion Berry-Hoof Post No, 72. Schatzie suffered with diabetes and died from Cirrhosis of the liver.
Leona was born (Private). She was the youngest child of John Franz and Pauline Graf. She worked in grocery stores for many years. Leona moved to Grand Forks, ND. in 1988, and is currently employed at Leevers Super Valu. In her spare time she enjoys playing bingo and baking for her children and grandchildren.

Sharon Mary Schwartzenberger, born (Private), married Robert "Bob" Lee Reis on (Private). Bob was born (Private), son of PETER Reis and ROSE LEIER.
Sharon graduated from Napoleon High School in 1971. In 1974 she graduated from Valley City College with a Bachelor's Degree in business education. She then went on to attend the University of North Dakota School of Law, graduating in 1977 with a Juris Doctorate Degree. From 1977-1982 Sharon worked as an associate attorney in Grand Forks and Devils Lake, ND. and Crookston and Warren, MN. areas through the Federal Land Bank of St Paul, MN. In 1985 she joined the private firm of Shaft, Reis & Shaft Ltd. and is currenty a 50 percent owner of the firm. She specializes in real estate, probate, and estate planning.
Bob graduated from Napoleon High School in 1971 and attended Valley City College and the University of North Dakota. For 24 years he worked at the University of North Dakota Aerospace Departement as an accountant. He is currently (2000) involved in establishing his new carrer of broker with PaineWebber.
The most trying time for Sharon and Bob"s family was the Grand Forks flood of 1997. Sharon's entire law firm burned in the downtown fires that happened during the flood. Then her senior partner died a short time later. Also, their home had water on the main floor, forcing them to live in an apartment for four months while their entire home was refurbished. Back in 1979, their house also sustained damage from the flood, which forced Sharon and her newborn son to live with her boss for two weeks. Email Sharon & BobThey had 2 children :

Bobby wants to become a pediatrician and is hoping to get accepted into medical school at the University of North Dakota. Robert was born 7 months premature.

Travis John Reis, born (Private). Travis is a sophomore (2000) at Grand Forks Red River High School. He is an avid hockey player and played for the Red River varsity hockey team as one of of only two freshman on the team. He also loves to golf. Travis isn't sure of his life goals, but hopes to some day play college hockey. Travis was born 7 months premature. He suffered 3 collapsed lungs during his teen years. He had surgery to repair this in December 1999.

Sheila Kay Schwartzenberger, born (Private), married Gerald "Jake" Dean Edwards on (Private). Jake was born (Private), son of Leroy Edwards and Evelyn Mayfield.
Sheila graduated from Napoleon High School in 1972. She then went on to North Dakota State College of Science, graduating in 1974 with an Associate Degree in secretarial work. In May 1974 she started employment as a secretary with Minnkota Power Cooperative in Grand Forks, ND. and is currently (2000) still employed there.

Sharmaine Ranae Schwartzenberger, was born (Private). She married Darrell Frank Stoppler on (Private), son of Frank Stoppler and Mary Bosch. He was born (Private).
Sharmaine graduated from Napoleon High School in 1975. In 1977 she graduated from the North Dakota State College of Science with an Associate Degree in secretary. She then worked as a secretay at Bismarck State College for a year. From there she went back to college at the University of North Dakota, graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor's Degree in accounting. In 1981 Sharmanine started employment with the North Dakota Department of Health and is currently (2000) still employed there as a program administrator.
Darrell graduated from Linton High School in Linton, ND. In 1976. He attended North Dakota State College of Science, graduating in 1977 with an Associate Degree in computer programming. In 1979 he graduated fro Bismarck State College with an Associate Degree in business management. Darrell spent 22 ½ years working in retail business, with 21 of those years at Montgomery Ward in Bismarck, ND. In 1998 he started employment with the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Susan "Sue" Lynn Schwartzenberger, was born (Private). She married Gregory "Greg" Gerald Braun on (Private), son of Gerald Braun and Beverly Weiss. He was born (Private).
Sue graduated from Napoleon High School in 1977. She then attended the North Dakota State College of Science, graduating in 1979 with an Associate Degree in legal secretary. After college she started employment with the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND. as the assisatant financial aid director. Sue is currently (2000) working as the accountant in the college bookstore.
Greg graduated from Wahpeton High School in Wahpeton, ND. in 1978. He attended college at the North Dakota State College of Science, graduating with an Associate Degree in machine tooling. Randy graduated from Napoleon High School in 1985. He attended the University of North Dakota, graduating in 1989 with a Bachelor's Degree in business administration. He spent many years working in the construction business, starting out in the summers while attending high school and college. Five of those years he worked for his dad. In April 1997 Randy began employment with the U.S. Postal Service as a part-time rural carrier. He is also trained as a bulk mail clerk and a relief supervisor. Email Randy
