Prologue
Much time spent as one,
Yet you think that time is done,
This love is one that cannot contend,
For I will forever defend.
Waiting evermore to hear your song,
Giving myself for too long,
Holding passion for sweet death,
Taken so much, nothing left.
Been my guide all my life,
Holding me back free from strife,
Keeping me warm in your arms,
Letting nothing show me harm.
One guilty soul with sorrow too deep,
One young child with a memory to keep,
A power fighting to make them choose,
And two deep hearts with nothing to lose.
Fighting demons and angels alike,
Going through fire, swords, and spikes,
Forever we shall make our mark,
We’re the barred, the banned, the forbidden dark
The night lay in deep sleep with those who are doomed to wander praying on the unknowing living with the pure bitterness that they are not that which they kill. But in the darkness there could be light seen within the shadows, deep in the city.
The six bodies that stood in the room filled with shock stayed silent before it was broken “A god?” Angel repeated, “So that means…”
“Well not technically” Wesley replied “She’s the next evolution of vampires. Faster, smarter, stronger, less destructible.”
“Do you know how damaging that could be?” Gunn asked.
“I have an idea.”
“But…how can that be?” Fred asked “I mean…the evolution?”
“Well obviously everything progresses, that’s how we’re standing here” Wesley replied “vampires because of their superiority in strength and mortality, have advanced slower than us…and somehow when Blaze was born or bitten…the next stage in vampire evolution…passed to her.”
“Okay, so in other words” Lorne spoke “This girl Blaze, is a powerful vampire that can probably wipe the floor with Angel and is now running around LA…what do we do about that?”
They all stayed silent for a while, Gunn looked to each of them “We take her” he said.
“We don’t have the strength to take on a vampire like Blaze” Wesley told him.
“Well we can’t just sit around and do nothing with her around, if she’s as powerful as you say than…”
“She won’t do anything” Angel replied.
“Gunn’s right” Wes spoke up “Blaze is capable of tearing this city apart, we have to do something before she does so…”
“No” Angel spoke again.
“Then what we just sit here and wait for her to do something?”
“No…we’re going to find her” he leaned up and clicked his phone “Harmony tell them to bring him in.”
Wesley turned to the door to see two big men drag Nick in. The set him in front of Angel’s desk. “What do you want?” he asked.
“I want to know what you do” Angel told him.
“I don’t know anything” Nick said.
“Why were you with Blaze?”
“She wanted information…about you” Nick replied “She sought me out then when I told her all I knew of you she took me with her.”
“Where to?”
“She wanted me to show me where you were…we stopped because she was hungry…and you know the rest.”
“Why was she looking for Angel?”
“I don’t know.”
“Think about that one” Angel told him.
“I swear…I don’t know. She only kept on mumbling something about ‘taking the power’ and I don’t know what she’s talking about.”
“Are you sure?” Fred nodded.
Nick nodded “Look, I swear…I’m just a normal guy...and I just want to get on with my life.”
“You’re not normal” Angel told him “I can smell the inhumanity in you.”
Nick looked to each of them “Okay…I’m a reader…I can read feelings, weather patterns, prophecies…stuff like that. I know more about some people by a single glance at them than their parents know about them. I can look into the sky and tell you what the weather’s going to be like in four months…things like that…and I’m also a little psycic.”
“That would explain why Blaze would want him” Wesley spoke up “A reader that can tell an entire history…”
“Like the history of what’s been happening for the past 100 years” Gunn spoke up.
“Or the only other vampire worthy of standing in her way” Fred said looking at Angel.
“You say you told her everything you know” Angel said ignoring their stares.
“Okay…not everything” Nick replied “I just told her what any other might know about you…the short version…I think she knew I was lying which is why she was taking me with her.”
“She was going to her base where she was going to torture the information out of you” Wesley told him.
“Do you have any idea where she is now?” Gunn asked.
“I…could read the city” Nick replied.
They all looked to each other then to Angel. Unhesitant Angel nodded at Nick “Find her.”
Blaze walked into the bar and she looked around “Different from a tavern” she said.
Suddenly two men went by them throwing each other around drunkenly. “But not much” she said “Hopefully they have better lines.”
“Hey baby” she heard a voice say “How’s about you come sit on my lap.”
She looked to the man “One can wish” she said before walking up to him “Excuse me?”
“Why don’t you sit on my lap” the man replied.
She smirked, before her smile dropped and she picked the man up and threw him through the window behind him. The man beside him stood up “Bitch!” he cried before trying to hit her.
She grabbed his arm and broke it before punching him across the room. Other men from around the bar surrounded them, they then all turned into vampires, “You picked the wrong bar,” one of them said.
“I think I did” Blaze replied. She swatted her hand, the men all lit on fire before eviscerating. Behind them stood Angel, the two stood staring at each other “What now?” she asked.
Angel looked her over “Nice move” he said.
“I learned from the best” she replied.
“We need to talk” he told her.
“Yeah” she nodded “I thought we might.”
