Part 3
“I ordered you to not to fight her” Angel told Gun as he was getting bandaged up “Do you know how luck you are that you’re not dead?”
Fred walked into the office to see Wes sitting with his head down on a book, his breathing deep and fast paced. She smiled and walked over to him, she reached out and gently shook his shoulder “Wesley” she whispered.
She jumped back when Wesley suddenly jumped awake “I swear I wasn’t hitting on you Angel” he said.
Fred gave him a strange look “Maybe you need this more than I do” she said setting down a cup of coffee.
He looked up at her and tried to act casual as to what he had just said “Thank-you” he said “What time is it?”
“It’s 2 in the afternoon” she replied.
“How’s Angel?”
“He’s been trying to find her all day, especially since she attacked Gunn” Fred told him “He says she’s close but he doesn’t know where. It’s a vampire thing…one can sense the other…then again you would know that.
“He feels the need to find her,” Wes said as he took a sip of coffee “If he’s lying it’s most likely that he wishes to talk to her before any of us…I just don’t get it. If she was given a soul like he says…then she should be docile by now. But…she’s if anything just as ruthless if not more than before.”
“Did you call Willow?”
“Yes, it took awhile since they refuse to talk to us but she was able to give me a spell.”
“She couldn’t come here?”
“She’s going to try, but with us moving to Wolfram & Hart their group is a little precautious of coming here.”
“How…well do you wonder why she’s here? I mean, you don’t just show up in LA like this without a reason.”
“We’ll find out soon enough.”
Fred took a seat and looked around at the books “Shouldn’t we tell Angel we know about all this?” she asked, “I mean it could be dangerous. Plus he could use the information.”
“He’ll get it soon enough, and if we’re right and he did have a hand at raising even siring her, he won’t need our help at all.”
“Do you think she’ll go through the whole ‘guilt’ process too?”
“I don’t know” Wes said “She’s a god among vampires, that might cause a block against any kind of sorrow or guilt for what she’s done. Then she could play possum and there could be repercussions to that.”
“She’ll kill us all.”
Wesley nodded “Yes.”
“What’s the plan?” Angel asked walking into the room and sitting down.
They looked to each other before Wesley opened a book and placed it before Angel, Angel looked to the writing and the book which were both very familiar to him “If what you say is true and she was given a soul before” Wesley replied “Then we need to find out what happened and why she was able to get rid of it…or if it’s still intact and it doesn’t matter. According to this text here which has the most information on the curse given to you the only thing that could lift her soul is perfect happiness.”
“We need you to bring her here for some tests” Fred went on “Because theirs almost no reason her soul shouldn’t be intact.”
They watched Angel closely for his response some scared, some anticipating, and some just impatient. He nodded with an unreadable expression “Okay…we’ll bring her in” he said.
“Were going to need her here as soon as possible” Wesley told him.
“I can get her,” Angel said.
“Are you sure you can do that?” Fred asked “She almost killed Gunn last time.”
“I know a little about her” Angel said “I could use that against her…don’t worry about me. And don’t try to follow me.”
That night…
Angel walked into the apartment, the shades were drawn and the lights were still on. He saw a small pile of dust by the window over a burnt piece of carpet. He looked around the room for any sign she was there before walking into the kitchen, and to the refrigerator, he opened it and peeked in “Hungry?”
His head shot up to see Blaze standing by the door “If I knew you were coming I would have brought you someone.”
“I’m not hungry”
“Then let me guess, it’s an automatic reaction to just go straight to the fridge, because of all the nutrients your missing from your liquid diet.”
“What happened there?” He asked walking out of the kitchen into the living room.
She looked to the pile of dust “He stepped into the sun.”
He walked toward her “I want you to come with me” he said.
“Where?”
“The office.”
“And be a crime fighter? I’ll have to think about that one”
“Are you sure? We once lived together…why not now?”
“Your friends don’t like me…they want to give me a gift I don’t want.”
“Give them time” he said “They’ll understand.”
“Understand what?” she asked, “That you and I used to pillage together gleefully and now it’s time to reunite us?”
“They’ll understand.”
“You sure?” She looked him over before returning to his gaze “Are you so positive that that they won’t turn on me or you after finding out all we had done? What we were?” she asked, “Other than that I just need to know the catch.”
“No catch.”
“Bull” she replied “There’s always a catch, we can’t just walk in there you with a soul, me without conscience or mercy and just live together happily without something happening? I don’t think so. I know about the curse and I know what will happen if you reach ‘perfect happiness,’ it’s happened before and if you and I reunite you know it will happen again.”
“Then we’ll find a way around it.”
She shook her head “And if I don’t want to?”
He smiled “I know you do.”
She smiled “Yeah…okay I do…but I can’t go with you.”
“Why now?”
“You know.”
“It’s not like we’re going to try kill you.”
“Just ‘fix’ me…make me a nice little kitten…like you.”
“We just want to help you.”
“No you want to help yourself…your little cause for the savior of man kind. It’s a blind path to take.”
“It might me, but it’s mine to take if I want to. And I want you to be apart of it.”
“Why?”
Angel began to become uncomfortable and started to shuffle, she watched him closely “Not really the reunion you were looking for?”
“I had a different idea…if you ever came back.”
She nodded “Well…why else?”
When he didn’t answer she knew “It’s to clear your conscience” she said “To make up for a mistake you made a long time ago…or actually think you made.”
He looked up at her “You are my fault” he said.
She shook her head “I chose this path before you chose it for me. Living that life was all I wanted.”
“You have to come with me” he said.
She slowly turned “Sorry Angel, but I have a prior engagement. Come back tomorrow.”
She turned back and walked toward the door, she opened the door when suddenly a sting bolted through her neck, she reached to the center of the pain in the back of her neck and pulled out a needle. “Sorry” Angel said “But your coming with me whether you like it or not.”
The room spun, and different colors appeared out of nowhere. They spun around her head as she saw double of everything “What…did…you” she sounded weakly falling to her knees “Did…you…do….”
Angel caught her when she suddenly fainted. “I’m sorry Kali” he said “This is the only way.”
“He’s been gone for awhile” Fred said.
“He could take care of himself” Gunn told her.
“Did he mention a plan?” Lorne asked “Or was he just going to walk in, and tell her to follow him.”
The four of them sat in the office each waiting Angel’s return. They were unsure of what he was going to do with Blaze, but each expressed their concern for him. Wesley leaned forward from where he sat “If he did find her I admit I am a little worried. She has power he doesn’t even know about…I don’t think. But she could very well kill him if she wanted.”
Fred sighed looking around “I wish there was more we could do instead of just sitting around here.”
“Angel’s strong” Gunn told her “He’ll know what to do, and how to capture Blaze.”
Angel suddenly came out of the elevators “Gunn” he said “Gather as much men as possible…she’s in the basement we’re going to need some help, she might wake up any minute.”
Gun ran to the office as the others stood up and waited for instructions from Angel “Let’s go” he signaled to the others.
Wesley quickly lead the way to the door leading to the basement, opened it and allowed Angel through before following. Gunn followed closely with a herd of men all with traquilizor guns. Angel had set Blaze down outside the cell so he picked her up and had Fred open the cell. He walked in and set her down then turned to walk out when Blaze grabbed his leg, everyone jumped and Gunn shot her in the arm. Blaze looked around wearily at everyone surrounding the cage, then back at Angel before closing her eyes again.
Angel walked out and locked the cage “That was close” Gunn said.
Angel watched Blaze sleep “The tranquilizer I gave her would have knocked a normal vampire out for hours. It’s barely been 45 minutes.”
“She’s powerful” Wesley said “And strong. I think the sooner we decipher the scrolls and books we have on her, which isn’t very much, the better it would be. And hopefully before she wakes up.”
“Well if the tranquis Angel used were that useless on her, I think these would only last about 5 minutes” Gunn told them.
“I’m close to getting all I need for the ‘soul spell’” Wesley said “we should be able to perform it tonight.”
“Everyone upstairs” Angel said with his eyes still on Blaze “I’m not chancing hurting any of you.”
Everyone gave Angel strange looks then walked up the stairs while Angel lagged behind. “You guys” Fred spoke when the door closed behind her “I think Angels hiding something from us, he’s been acting too weird since he found out she was here, for it to be nothing.”
“I agree” Wesley said “And I think the answers to all those questions are in the scrolls, but we still have to translate them. But right now we have to try give her a soul before anything else happens.”
Angel came through the door, and looked to each of them giving him a weird look “What?” he asked.
“We have work to do” Wesley said before walking away.
Fred stepped up “Do you think she’ll get out?” she asked.
“I don’t know” Angel replied “She’s very unpredictable…at this point. For all we know she could melt those bars.”
He then walked toward Wesley, and Fred watched him walk away “That would suck” she said.
