Part 2
“Angel this is Drake, Kyle, and Terrance” Lorne said “Guys this is Angel.”
“Hi” Angel said “Your human.”
Later that night…
Lorne concentrated fully on the print before him. “I can’t understand this,” he said.
His eyes searched around the dark empty ally in search of enemies, he turned around again…nothing. “This is odd,” he said.
The door opened and Barry walked in “Did you find him?” she asked.
Barry slowly walked up “He appeared a few months ago around here” Barry replied “I got some files from a bookstore down the road and a few other places, this is basically a summed up story of his life” he put down two boxes filled with papers and books.
“Is this all you can find on Angelus?” she asked.
“Well…we don’t really like to get in his way” Barry replied.
“How long have you lived here?”
“All my life.”
“And in that time you haven’t heard about, or from a Vampire like Angelus?”
“Well…”
“You’re useless” she then opened the shutters.
Barry cried out and burst into flames. She closed the shutters and then turned to the living room, she walked to the box and began to read from it. Most of it spoke of Angelus’ past and the victims he had, along with his run with Darla. Then it spoke of her and Angelus, the two of them said to be ‘the most gruesome vampires in history’, she smiled. It then spoke of ‘the vampire with a soul’ her eyes widened as she read about the gypsy girl’s family that had put a soul into Angel. She remembered the girl; she was a birthday gift from Darla to Angelus. “Some gift” she mumbled.
She sat back and read all she could from the two boxes, when she came upon a slip of paper with an address on it. She looked up, then back down at the card, and shrugged “Well I need some exercise anyways” she said “And he might be cute…please don’t let it be another demon, I really can’t stand them.”
She then pulled on her jacket and walked out.
“That’s the general idea” Drake replied.
“So they’re going to stay here until the talent show,” Lorne said.
“Hey, sorry if it’s a bit tense around here” Fred spoke up “We’re just researching on something.”
“That’s alright” Blake nodded knowing why.
“Well, I’ll take you to the place you’ll stay” Lorne told them “Come along, and Angel, guys we’ll see you later.”
Angel nodded his mind wandering far from the place he stood.
Gunn snapped his fingers in front of Angel “Angel” he said.
Angel snapped out of it and looked to Gunn “What?” he asked.
“Man you’ve been nodding off all day” Gunn told him “What’s on your mind?” he asked.
Angel shook his head “Nothing” he said “I’ll be…upstairs.”
He walked away.
Fred watched as Angel walked away “I’m really worried about him” she said.
“We all are” Wesley said comfortingly “He really hasn’t been the same since Cordelia.”
“I miss her.”
Gunn and Wesley nodded “We all do” Gunn said.
The door of the bedroom opened and he walked in, setting his bags by the bed. He walked to the window, not bothering to look around the expensive room. He’d long ago realized it just how useless all that could be. He looked out into the lights of the city, finding nothing but emptiness and a longing to be filled with what he didn’t know. Maybe he’d find it here in the City of Angels. Who was he? Well, just a simple man with a few powers given to him. His name was Nick; he was 6’1, blue eyes, and blonde hair. The all American boy…or so they said. But he really didn’t see himself as anything, demons, vampires, Wicca’s…they all came to him for help, and he helped them. But he wanted more, adventure. He thought that coming to this city would help him, but so far it was just like all the other cities he had been in…boring. He turned from the window to lay down, he layed back on the bed and closed his eyes, thinking his life over, “Not really what you expected right?”
His eyes flew open and he sat straight up to see a someone sitting in a dark corner, the shadows covering it’s face “Who are you?” he asked “How’d you get in here?”
She leaned forward and stood in the light to show her beautiful face “Persuasion” she replied.
He quickly jumped off the bed and moved away from her, “Relax” she said, “I’m not going to hurt you. If I wanted to, you would already be dead. But I just want to talk.”
“Talk” he repeated.
“Yeah” she replied, “You see, I know you’re a smart mortal, and I think you know what I am. So I’m not going to bother you with that, all I want is you to help me.”
“Do what exactly?” he asked.
“Well you see, I’ve been asleep for the past 100 years, and I really don’t know that much about this world, and the things inside it. But mostly I don’t know where the person I’m looking for is” she told him “And I need you, to help me find him.”
“I know who you are,” Nick said standing up “You’re the child. Child born with the blood of a god and the soul of a demon.”
“You catch on quick, then again you are a psychic, so tell me” she then walked toward him and he backed up “What do you see in your own future?”
He looked down at her with fear in his eyes, “What do you want?” he asked.
“It’s not exactly want” she said, “It’s more like a need, you see I need you to help me find a former…lover I guess…in a way.”
“Angelus is dead” he told her.
She frowned “Don’t lie to me Nick” she said, “I could break your neck like, that.”
“I don’t mean dead, dead,” Nick told her “I mean that Angelus is dead, he’s no more, a simple memory. But the man that once was your father…lives.”
“Explain that,” she said.
“His name is Angel” Nick said, “He works downtown in a place called ‘Angel Investigations’ he’s a detective. Working for the good now.”
She turned away trying not to believe it…but knew it was true. “Well” she said “Angel’s a good guy now…hmmm…”
She turned back to him “Thanx…I’ll be back if I need more information…by Nick.”
She walked out, and Nick breathed out. Suddenly she walked back in and grabbed his hand “actually…I might need you.”
“Can’t read the language?” Fred asked.
“No I can understand it perfectly” Lorne replied “It’s just that, the book explains about a demon who brings upon the Apocalypse, and then it says the same demon ends the Apocalypse…well something like that.”
“So the demon’s two sided?” Fred asked.
“Apparently” Lorne said, “You find anything?”
“Not really” Fred replied “What ever this is it’s scaring the demon world, I was reading some things on the internet earlier and it seems as though a lot of lower being demons are staying, but the more powerful are leaving …”
She then put her books on the counter “Man I hope we find something helpful soon.”
“Yeah” Lorne agreed, “Well, I hope Angel and them are having more luck than us.”
Fred then looked quickly around the room “Lorne…where’s your friends?”
“Huh?” Lorne looked up from the book he was reading “Oh they decided to go out for the night, they’ll be back in the morning. There’s this really great karaoke bar near by and they wanted to practice.”
“Oh” Fred nodded “Okay.”
“Man we’ve searched all over this place” Gun sounded “Ain’t found a puddle of goo.”
“Something had to scare them away” Angel said.
The then heard footsteps, and saw a figure in the dark not far from them, a man leaning down Gunn ran toward him and was about to attack him when Angel and Wesley then saw a girl suddenly appear and grab Gunn and lift him off the ground, “Like a moth to the flame” she said “I knew you’d come in handy Nick.”
Wesley and Angel ran forward ready to attack, but when Angel saw her face he stopped.
Wesley ran up and attempted to attack the girl, but when he was close enough she turned and kicked him, he flew backwards a few feet before landing and skidding to a stop.
She lifted Gunn higher and examined him “Your strong” she said, “Should be fulfilling…”
She then pulled him closer to bite him, when a voice rang in her ears that made her freeze “Blaze.”
It had plagued her mind and ate at her dreams for the past 100 years, she dropped the boy and turned slowly to see him standing there, still very tall, still dark, still kind eyes, but now in shock, with shorter hair. “Angelus” she breathed.
She let go of Gunn, Gunn dropped and fell to the ground. Angel starred into the girl’s shocked eyes “It’s been a long time” he said.
She nodded “Yes it has.”
She studied him from where she stood, her eyes narrowing as if trying to read him. “But” she said “I heard you were dead.”
Angel shook his head “You were misinformed” he said.
“Was I?” she asked “Then why do I see guilt in your eyes?”
Angel looked to her unknowing what to say partially due to shock “You have a soul” she said.
He nodded “So” she went on “I always said you were unique…now you really are.”
She hesitated for a moment before walking up and wrapping her arms around him “I’m missed you so much” she said.
Angel wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him “Me too” he said.
