Random Pondering
Part I
As I sat playing cards on my computer at about 1:15 AM on July 6, 1999, I thought to myself, "Guns cause violence my butt." Well, it was a bit more graphic than that, but you get the point. I, personally, was raised around guns all my life. Im quite certain that many of you reading this were too. Some of you have been around them a lot longer than I have, Im certain, as it is about five days from my seventeenth birthday right now. But the point remains the same.
As far as the violence issue goes, I can promise you now, it is about as true as Bill Clinton being a good guy. Ive been shooting since I was about eight. I have never ever had a desire to kill anyone. The reason for this is that my parents raised me right. When my dad was first teaching me to shoot, the first thing he told me was "Never point a gun at a person." This always was, always has been, and always will be the most important rule. The next thing he told me was "Never point a gun at anything you dont intend to shoot." He also told me to always clear the action when someone handed you a gun. I still do that to this day. Truth be told, there have been times when I have checked the action five or six times just to make sure.
The school shootings? Im no more than twenty feet from a gun right now. Ive got easier access to them than the little terrorist wannabes that shot up Columbine. The difference, you ask. Im not curious about guns. I know what they are, I know what they do, and I know that they can be either very dangerous, or extremely fun, depending on whose hands theyre in. As far as the solution goes, I think the Israelis have it figured out. The principal has a gun, and select teachers have them also. It really puckers up the kids to think that if they were so inclined to spray bullets into their history class, theyd have lead flying their direction too.
If you sit there and read the Second Amendment, you know that it says "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Now, Ive highlighted in read, what the liberals focus on. A well regulated militia They focus on this, thinking that we dont need a militia composed of the people, because we have the National Guard. Or, rather, they want us to think that. Now, the blue part is what most of the NRA folks concentrate on. They especially like the part where it says shall not be infringed. Now, both parties are right with what they say, but only one of them is right when you add in the rest. We all know that the one that is right, at least in what they say is the National Rifle Association. Ive broken this down in a previous article, but Ive yet to dedicate one to that purpose alone. My next article will be a complete breakdown and analysis of the Second Amendment. It will also include supporting quotes from the greats such as Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, and Tench Coxe. Until then, these quotes may be found only on my quotes page (at least on this site anyways).
