Open mic sign up at the door or in advance. Contact David Shelor, the friendly minister at the church. Secular musicians welcome, too. ***end of program for 18 Jan 2000*** Note from Steve Sedberry regarding the "future" of this show: Driving home after the Jan 11th program my car was struck from behind by a careless driver. Although the other driver was ticketed for following too close I was ticketed for driving without liability insurance. Insurance is not required by the State of Alabama where I reside but according to interpretations of Georgia State Code 40-6-10 such a fact is irrelevant. States are not sovereign as some seem to think. On Valentine's Day I am required to appear before the state court at Carrollton and possibly lose my driver's license, this in addition to a fine of $350. plus possibly additional "court costs." Consequently on 18 January I rode my bicycle and hitched a ride in a pickup truck to get to the station where I pre-recorded the show. How this will end is very uncertain. I am still a volunteer at WWGC and have not been reimbursed for automobile expenses as was originally considered by the station manager. Life is a funny thing sometimes. We may get "points of light" for volunteering but ..... The music really energizes me and though it sometimes makes me cry, listening to these often-inspiring musicians has helped rekindle my own musical fire. For that I can only be grateful! If I am not able to continue hosting and producing the folk show I will still be happy for the time spent with new music and for the radio-production skills I have re-learned and enhanced since the end of my first "radio career" in 1983. I may go back to performing soon even if I have to walk to the gigs! Thank YHWH I still can! -20 Jan 2000 [Jan 2002 note: I didn't have to pay the fine, nor did I lose my driver's license, thankfully, but Alabama started requiring insurance. I stopped driving and bought a better bicycle which I rode until Dec 2001. Now I ride to and from the radio station once a week in a friend's truck. The music continues, praise God!] ***program for 25 Jan 2000*** 1/Leslie Costa (and her folk-based rock)/September Rain 2/Leslie Costa/Heartland 3/Leslie Costa/Shotgun To My Heart www.lesliecosta.com 4/Buffy Sainte-Marie/The Big Ones Get Away www.cradleboard.org 5/Guy Davis/Long Train on Red House Records CD100 6/Leslie Costa/Like A Freight Train ---Children's segment--- 7/Ella Jenkins/On A Holiday 8/Ella Jenkins/This Train 9/Ella Jenkins/Freight Train Blues 10/Ella Jenkins/Go, Aquanetta Go 11/Ella Jenkins/Lord, Lord, Lord 12/Ella Jenkins/I Like Animals 13/Richard Dyer-Bennet/Three Craw (Three Crows; Scottish dialect) 14/Richard Dyer-Bennet/The Hole In The Bottom Of The Sea 15/Pete Seeger/The Train Is A-Coming 16/Pete Seeger/New River Train 17/Steve Sedberry/Song Of The Seasons 18/Steve Sedberry/Goodbye, Friends (music from Beethoven's ninth sym.) ---end of Children's segment--- 19/Leslie Costa/Stepping Stone 20/Faith Petric/The Rivers of Texas 21/Faith Petric/Womanchild 22/Faith Petric/The Colorado Trail FaithPet@aol.com 23/Evy Mayer/Let Me See Your Papers 24/Evy Mayer/Mind Your Own Business 25/Evy Mayer/The Nervous Wreck of the Edna Fitzgerald www.folkweb.com 26/The Brandywine Singers (Rick and Ron Shaw, Les Clark, Taylor Whiteside)/ Raspberries, Strawberries (R. & R Shaw) 27/The Brandywine Singers/Lou'siana Young (Ron Shaw) 28/The Brandywine Singers/I've Lost My Yo-Yo (M.McGinn) www.folkera.com (I think that's right) 29/Dan Hart/Tailfins (www.folkweb.com) 30/Ralph Mctell/Peppers and Tomatoes/ from Red House Records, St. Paul ***end of program for 25 Jan 2000*** Send vaguely folk CD's, LP's, 45's, cassettes to: Steve Sedberry Radio Station WUWG 1601 Maple Street Carrollton, GA 30118 Judeo-Christian music especially welcomed. for info. telephone Tuesdays between 7:30 and 10:00 PM, eastern: 770-836-6732 770-836-6731
