[Show host Sedberry reintroducd James Hembree's 2nd year Webelos den from Cub Scout Pack 900 from Bill Arp, Georgia in adjoining Douglas County. The den sang a fun and silly scout song, Chicken Lips and Lizard Hips, backed up, if not a bit unintentionally overpowered by Steve Sedberry improvising on Bob Sidney's handmade backpacker guitar. 'I had to leave my normal post at the control board to perform in the middle studio with the scouts so couldn't properly monitor the sound level. My invisible assistant was put to sleep by the elegant music.' {first draft of Sedberry's official and rather feeble excuse}]
[Sedberry interviewed James Hembree's friend, Bob Sidney, musical instrument builder from Villa Rica, GA; Bob builds small (backpacker style) guitars, Appalachian mountain dulcimers, banjos, madolins and fiddles. Phone Bob at 770 459-8205; best time to call is in the evenings. To paraphrase Bob Sidney, 'Building musical instruments is like watching grass grow; it's very slow.' Tours of his workshop are available to potential customers.]

Kaki King; Everybody Loves You; Velour Recordings 2003 [Kaki King records amazingly fresh original solo guitar tunes which are both comforting and innovative; her music is just plain enjoyable to experience; she's a real artist in the making.]
Alison Krauss; Ghost In This House; Forget About It; Rounder 1999 [from D's collection of CD's for his Sunday afternoon Bluegrass show on WUWG; played by request; beautiful song! Kate Campbell; Look Away; Rosaryville, Compass Records [Song about a young Caucasian girl born in the Deep South in the late fifties who gradually comes to terms with how her beloved culture is perceived by outsiders as racist and elitist. Campbell's song leans toward the same pathos and identity crises found in stories by Southern writers, Carson McCullers, Flannery O'Connor and Eudora Welty.]

Chip Taylor; Him Who Saved Me; Let's Leave This Town; LoneStar #4009 [Featuring vocal harmonies by Carrie Rodriguez this recording is on a song sampler sent us by Sing Out magazine. In my opinion this is a secular humanist song rather than, as Sing Out magazine described it, a gospel song, as 'gospel' refers to the 'good news' of personal salvation made possible solely by Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. What could be more dangerous than confusing the message of secular humanism with eternal salvation?]
