| In 1993, Jon started his own night, ‘Pleased’ at the Velvet Underground in London. What started as a low key, intimate gathering every Wednesday, grew into the best mid-weeker in London – attracting music, media and club types alike. Boy George, Blur, the Manics and Pete Burns were regular attendees. Always the perfect party host, Jon Pleased knew exactly how to please the dancefloor from behind the DJ booth as much as from on the dance floor. With an open minded music policy, he would mix up tracks by Beloved and Kraftwerk with Aha – or whatever records he felt would excite. The Pleased club ran for 4 years – a period of time Jon recalls as his DJ ballistic era. During this time, he was one of the UK’s most in demand DJs, booked practically every night of the week to play all the major clubs in the country including Cream, Ministry, Back To Basics, Puschca, Fun, Progress and MoneyPennys, as well as at clubs across the world. back to JON PLEASED / THE VISITOR menu click to enlarge |
