Chapter 130

Lois fixed Ned's shirt before they sat down at a table in Kelly's.
N: "Are you sure this is gonna work?"
Lo: "If we all play it out right." She looked at him. "Well it's worth a shot.."
N: "I can't believe they're gonna go along with it."
Lo: "Do you know he's never gonna let me live this down!"
N: "Uh...you might wanna start crossing your fingers." Her eyes widened in fright.
Lo: "They're here?"
He nodded slowly as he watched the door open and Gloria and Carmine run through the doors, witha struggling Frannie with a carriage behind them.
Car: "Where is he!"
G: "How dare he!"
Lois gulped before turning on a big smile, she looked at he parents.
Lo: "So glad to see you guys!"
Frannie blew a piece of hair from her face, frustrated.
Fr: If you haven't noticed I'm a bit stuck here! HELP!''
Car: "Oh sorry.." He pulled the carriage into the diner and she rolled her eyes.
G: "Well where is your brother and this...girl!"
N: "My guess would be bed.."
Lois kicked his leg and laughed.
Lo: "DOn't mind him he's growing a sense of humor."
Fr: "Not everyone gets up with the birds like you people."
Car: "Frannie don't start!"
G: "I can't believe this...what did we ever do...Carmine where'd we go wrong!"
Car: "How the hell am I suppose to know."
Fr: "Do you like this girl Lo?"
Lo: "Nice girl..she really came through for all of when we needed her at the club."
The front door opened and Louie came strolling, whistling as he did so. He looked better than ever, wearing black dress pants and a blue shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He smiled at his family.
Lou: "Mornin'" He kissed his mothers cheek. "Why all flustered ma?"
Shook his father's hand and kissed both his sisters and then smiled at his niece. He looked back up at the family who all were silent and just looked at him shocked."
Lo: "I thought you were upstairs.."
Lou: "I went home and took a shower." He pulled up a chair "So why the family reunion?"
Car: "Well a little bird visited us and told us you were getting MARRIED!"
Louie grinned.
Lou: "So you know...remind me to thank that bird.." He looked at Lois.
G: "Well! What do you have to say for yourself?"
Lou: "I'm getting married...be happy for me."
G: "Louie...two months ago you were miserable and SINGLE now all of a sudden your whistling and engaged? Pardon me if I'm a bit shocked I had no idea my son was seeing someone yet alone getting married!"
Car: "We don't even know her!"
G: "You couldn't even come and introduce her before you asked her to be a CERULLO!?"
Ca: "It took me 4 years to finally be satisfied with your mother...and in two months LESS your satisfied?"
G: "EXCUSE YOU!"
ca: "I mean...4 years to come to my senses!"
Lou: "More than satisfied." He leaned back against the chair. "So what's it gonna take for you people to calm yourselves/"
G: "I AM CALM!"
Car: "WELL HOW ABOUT A NAME and then maybe a face!?"
Lou: "Lisa, and her face...it's beautiful."
Fr: "Aww..you guys Louie's finally got a girl! My how quick the time's past it seems like just yesterday you were trying to grow a woman.."
Lo: "Fran...it was just yesterday."
Lou: "Would you both shut up? Thanks ever so much." He rolled his eyes.
G: "Let me tell you something bad enough your sisters geting married and won't let us in on it...I need you hiding your engagement from me too! What were you gonna do ELOPE?"
Lo: "He'd have better luck and you guys wouldn't be on his back."
Car: "Is that how you feel...I don't see his big shot grandfather offering to pay for your wedding!"
N: "Oh he's to busy trying to pay off the cops to arrest A.J. for disgracing the family name."
Fr: "Look he's getting married there you know...now say congradulations and call it a day!"
G: "Would you?"
Fr: "Sure...Congrats Bro."
Lo: "You people don't have to pay for shit...As long as I have peace I'll get married by a flying Elvis!"
Louie took a deep breath and shook his head, his eyes stopped wandering when he saw Lisa coming down the stairs. He stared at her with a slight smile on his lips. She looked perfect. She had on tight jeans with a gold lace cuff at the flare, with the matching top. Her hair was straight and she had one tiny braid falling in her face. She looked at Louie and crossed her arms. He pushed out his chair and looked down at his family.
Lou: 'Would you all shut up!"
Car: "Why the hell should we..."
Lou: "Fine don't meet her." He shrugged and walked towards her, they all turned and watched. He stood infront of her, blocking their view of her. Staring into her eyes.
Lou: "You look beautiful."
Li: "Right...I look like shit runned over twice and I'm limping! If you think I'm ever letting you near me again your joking!"
He grinned and pressed his lips against hers. He mumbled against them.
Lou: "Same time tonight?"
Li: "Earlier.." She said as she kissed him back. He pulled away and took her hands.
Lou: "You ready to be a Cerullo for a day?"
Li: "Remember you leave me..I'll grind your balls" She grinned as he winced. "Ready." He turned, still holding her hands, he lead her to the table. Frannie nudged Lois and smiled.Carmine and Gloria stared, surprised.
Lou: "Lisa, this is my family...My ma, Gloria and pop Carmine."
Lisa flashed a smile.
Li; "Nice to meet ya."
G: "Uh.sa..same here."
Lou: "That's Frannie, my sister." Frannie waved as Louie tickled Briana. "And my niece Briana...and Lois the bitch you know.
Li: "Can't say I don't."
Car:"Sit..sit..can we get you coffee or anything?"
LI: "No I'm good." Louie sat down pulling her onto his lap.
G: "I uh..I dunno what to say."
Li: "Surprised?"
G: "To say the least."
LI: "I told Louie to tell you but he wanted to come see you guys and do it in person, but with work the chance never came about."
G: "I see..." She eyed Louie. "My own son can't make time in his busy schedule to tell me he's getting married."
Louie tore his eyes away from Lisa.
Lou: "What ma?"
Lisa elbowed him.
Lou: "What'd I miss?"
Car: "Nevermind, Lisa tell us about yourself."
Li: "There's not much to tell...I'll be straight with you, your son isn't ...marrying the pick of the litter, I don't have any family...I was married before but things didn't work out."
G: "What makes you think they will this time?"
Lo: "Ma!"
Li: "Louie's nothing like my ex-husband, what we have ..it's different than anything I've ever experienced before."
Frannie sipped her water when her eyes fell on the ring, she choked.
Car: "Frannie are you ok?"
Fr: "Holy shit, look at the ring."
They all stared at her hand and Lois' mouth dropped. Gloria looked at her son, watching as he leaned his head on her shoulder and held her loosely.
Car: "Lou, how much that set you back?"
G: "Carmine you don't ask questions like that." She looked at Lisa. "Are you pregnant?"
Lisa's eyes widened and Louie laughed.
Lou: "Ma...I'm not marrying her because of any other reason, than I want to spend the rest of my life with her..."
Car:"But she's not pregnant?"
Li: "Hell No!"
Lou: "We don't want kids for a while...''
Fr: "Trojan it is!"
G: "How'd you guys meet?"
Li: "Car trouble."
Lo& Lou: "She works at the club."
G: "Well which is it?"
Li: "Club, See before he hired me we sort of fought and then we civilized during car trouble."
Louie nodded.
Carmine squinted confused and Gloria stared skeptical.
Fr: "How'd you propose?"
Louie was stumpedand Lisa knew he was.
Li: "It was really romantic, something I never expected.."
Louie squeezed her thigh.
Li: "Ouch!" They all looked at her and she smiled. "Cramp.."
Lou: "She was sleeping...and I couldn't so I just stared at her and started to think What if? You know...so I woke her up and she still was kinda sleeping when I whispered in her ear." He leaned over her shoulder, close to her ear." Lois inched forward.
Lo: "What'd ya whisper?"
Lou: "Marry me."
Lisa swallowed and looked over her shoulder at him. They stared at eachother for a moment.
G: "Lisa dear, did you have a big wedding the first time?"
Lisa turned to Gloria and shook her head.
Li: "No, he didn't want one."
Gloria broke into a grin.
G: "Well you can bet you'll have a fairy tale wedding this time! OH CARMINE! Two weddings...just think of all the fun.."
Car: "All the money....I'm never gonna be able to retire."
Louie laughed.
Lou: "You wouldn't have it any other way.."
G: "I want all of us to go to dinner tonight, as a family, we can celebrate Louie and Lisa's engagement the right way."
Lou: "Ma we sorta--"
G: "Now now...Lisa you don't mind do you?"
She smiled.
Li: "Not at all."
G: "Good then it's set we'll meet at the grill say around 8?"
Lo: "Great..." She rolled her eyes.
N: "SSH..Look it's Brenda!" He pointed to the T.V.
Lou: "Tammy turn it up.."
They watched flashbacks fo the press conference.

Brenda stormed into the hotel room hysterical. Sonny hurried in behind her.
S: "Brenda calm down.."
B: "I should've known..He's gonna ruin me! Everything I worked for all my dreams...are gone."
S: "Listen to me, theres no way I'm gonna let this happen...you worked to hard.."
B: "It doesn't matter." She shook her head. "You heard those reporters..just imagine what everyone's saying.."
S: "What're you saying Brenda?"
B: "I don't know..." She threw her head in her hands. "My life fell apart before it even started."
S: "Thats not true..You've been getting offers since you released your first single...you can just take one of those."
B: "And have him sue me! He'll take everything Sonny..He warned me he was gonna put up with much more...I should've listened."
S: "If you would've listened to him? You mean if there was no baby everything would be better.."
B: "Don't turn this around, I didn't mean it that way...that I don't want the baby! But god Sonny...we could've waited..we could've been more careful.."
S: "STOP IT!" She stared at him. "Your gonna wind up saying something you'll regret."
B: "I don't care anymore...I guess I'll be singing at Lucky Sevens the rest of my life...maybe we could put a daycare in the back!"
S: "I'm not gonna listen to this bullshit..your not even giving this situation a chance to unfold!" He looked at her. "Brenda, I know how much this means to you, but I remember the light in your eyes that shined when you told me you were pregnant, the glow you have when you talk about it...so stop acting as though this is the ruination of you, because this child is apart of you."
B: "Oh please...you wanted nothing, I repeat NOTHING to do with this pregnancy until 24 hours ago...you could give a shit about a baby, so don't you dare put guilt on me."
Sonny just stared at her.
S: "Why did I even bother?" He shook his head. He walked over to the phone, he dialed. "Operator connect me with American Airlines...thank you."
He pulled out his wallet and pulled everything out in search for his ticket. Brenda looked at him.
B: "Your just gonna leave?"
S: "What can I say you rubbed off on me....Yes, I have a ticket to depart to New York tomorrow I'd like to switch to tonight."
B: "Sonny put the phone down.."
s:" The confirmation number?" He began to search his wallet again. Brenda stood and hurried to him. She tried to grab the wallet. "Go away Brenda.."
B: "No, your not gonna leave. She tugged on the wallet and everything fell. Sonny noticed the baby picture of her and hurried to grab it but she bent down and took it in her hands. She stared at the picture as Sonny hung the phone and sighed heavily. She looked up at him.
B: "Where did you get this?"
S: "It's nothing."
B: "It's me. Who gave you this?" He was silent "Damn it! Sonny answer me!"
S: "A woman came to see me and she gave me the picture."
B: "Who?"
S: "I don't know if it's true, I have Benny looking into it.." She stared at him, watching him turn his head. "She says she's your mother."
Brenda laughed.
B: "My mothers dead!"
He looked at her.
S: "I don't think so..."
She shook her head as she looked at Sonny, then looked back at the picture.
B: "This is me..." She swallowed.
S: "She said your father had kicked her out when he found her with a guy she was having an affair with.."Brenda just kept her eyes on the picture. "Brenda?"
She closed her eyes.
*Flashback:
B: "Mama...where mama go?"
H: "ENOUGH...she's gone!"
B: "Mama.."
Harland kneeled down.
H: "No more, God damn it NO MORE!"
*Flashback2:
Brenda walked into her fathers office.
B: "How come you never mention her?"
H: "I don't have time for this."
B: "All you say is she's dead."
H: "It's all you need to know."
B: "I have a right to know how she died."
H: "She was sick."
B: "What was she like?"
He slammed his pen down and glared at her.
H: "Wanna know about your mother...she was a dirty whore...she didn't give a shit about you, I don't know why you give a rats ass how she died...just be greatful she's out of your life."
*End of Flashbacks*
Sonny touched her shoulder.
S: "I didn't want you to know until I was sure."
She shook her head.
B: "Why all of a sudden?" She looked up tears brimming.
S: "She said your father was holding her back, and now that he died she was free to see you."
B: "He died?"
S: "Supposedly.."
Tears escaped her eyes.
B: "I lived my life without mother, and basically without a father..All these years.."She shook her head as tars fell down her cheeks.
S: "Brenda she may not be who she says she is."
B: "How would she have the picture..I used to dream about her...I'd dream she'd come and rescue me from my father..I thought she some sort of angel.." She shook her head crying. Sonny pulled her to him.
S: "Don't cry baby.."
She pushed him away and wiped her cheeks.
B: "I need to go somewhere.."
S: "Where you wanna go."
B: "I don't know, I have to be alone to think."
S: "Brenda you shouldn't be alone.."
B: "I've been alone my whole life, one more night won't make a difference."
He just looked at her.
B: "Please be here when I come back."
He nodded slowly.
S: "Brenda.."
She looked at him.
S: "If you need me.."
B: "I know.."She turned and hurried out of the room. Sonny looked up at the ceiling and let out a breath as he made the sign of the cross.

Carmine was inspecting the silverware before him as he sat, waiting. Gloria sighed as she toyed with her watch.
G:"They're never on time are they?"
Lo: "They're probably necking in the car, you know how kids can be."
Gloria eyed her. Frannie was just trying to get briana to put the breadstick in her mouth. She sighed frustrated and threw it down on the high chair.
Fr: "I can't." She shook her head.
Lo: "Where's Alex?"
Frannie looked at her sister, silently until she noticed Louie walking in With Lisa behind him.
Fr: "Here they are.."
Louie pulled Lisa to his side and she looked at him as his hand wrapped around her waist. He leaned over and whispered in her ear.
Lou: "Do you know how much I love that dress."
She smiled. She was wearing a very short black dress.
Louie pulled out a chair for her.
Lou: "Sorry we're late.."
N: "Sucky sucky?"
Lo: ''Theres that humor again..." She rolled her eyes.
Louie sat next to Lisa.
Li: "Actually, I had to pick up a prescription at the drug store."
G: "Are you sick?"
Li: "Not exactly.."
Lois turned to Frannie, watching her struggle with Briana.
Lo: "Fran..."
Fr: "Not now Lois!"
Lo: "Damn...calm ya self."
Lou cleared his throat.
Lou: "So hows everything in Brooklyn.."
G: "Well we actually thinking of putting the house up for sale and moving up here." Lois coughed, Louie's eyes widened and Frannie turned abrupt.
Car: "You guys are here and it's just us down there...beside with you four getting married theirs bound to be more grandchildren."
Lou: "But that would mean you would see us alot."
G: "The general idea."
Lisa nudged Louie.
G: "And if we have a seller right away we can help plan the wedding...You wouldn't mind Lisa would you."
She smiled and shook her head as she squeezed Louie's knee."
Lou: "Ouch!" They all looked at him. "Charlie Horse."
Carmine turned to Lois, pointing his finger at her and Ned.
Car: "And don't think because your brother's getting married your off the hook."
Lo: "Now why would I think that." She rolled her eyes."
G: "In fact you will be getting married first, so we should really comtinue concentrating on your wedding-"
Li: "Well actually.."
Lou: "We're getting married next week."
Lo: "You are?"
Li: "We Are? I mean Yeah."
G: "WhaT!? When did you plan on telling us?!"
Lou: "Tonight..we want to be married quickly."
Car: "I'll say.."
Fr: "Something's up..."
N: "FRANNIE why would you say such a thing?"
Lou: "Nothing's up, we just want to be married right away..It's just better for us."
Car: "Is she foreign?"
Li: "No!"
G: Well what kind of wedding am I, I mean WE gonna be able to put together in a week."
LoU: "A simple one?"
Car: "Simple? With your mother?"
G: "I've got it! A Double wedding.."
Li,Lou,Lo&N: "A WHAT?"
Li: "No!
Lou: "We can't!'
Lo: "I'm not sharing my wedding."
G: "Lois how selfish of you.."
Lo: "No ma..you know I can't handle this anymore." She looked at her. "Your the one who's being selfish. Look I know you want the best for me and I appreciate it...but what you think is the best is a horror show to me...You only get married about 4 times in your life..if your a Quartermaine..10, I want my first to be special, I want it to reflect who I am not some whacked out wedding planner...or in this case you."
Louie leaned over to Lisa.
Lou: "I think this is our cue to split."
Li:"Are you kidding? This is just getting good."
He stood and pulled her up.
Lou: "Dance with me.."
He pulled her onto the dance floor.
Li: "Ooh I could kill you." He wrapped his arms around her.
Lou: "Lisa?"
Li: "What?"
Lou: "Shut up."
She pinched his shoulder and began to sway with him to the music.
Li: "Could we at least  move closer to the table so I can hear bits and pieces."
He grinned and pulled her closer and kissed her forhead.
Lou: "She's gonna tell them the truth and it's better if we're not there."
Li: "What do you mean she's gonna tell them the truth! After all this?"
She pushed him back so she could look at him.
Li: "Your parents are gonna hate me.."
He shook his head.
Lou: "No they won't..."
Li: "Oh no? First time I meet them, I lie through my teeth."
Lou: "Yeah but we'll blame it on Lois." He nudged her shoulder. "You really care what my family thinks?"
Li: "Well yeah..They're nice people, from what I know. Growing up without a family you find yourself respecting others.'
They began to dance again and she spoke against his shoulder.
Li: "Look at your family. Your parents are married how many years? At least 20...they've raised you three all your life, keeping you together. They taught you everything you know, they taught you how to stick together, how to be a family. Your sister had a problem she knew she could run to you to help. You guys may find them annoying but at least they care, all they want is to see their children happy..Your lucky Louie...more than you know."
Lou: "I guess I know your weakness."
Li: "Oh really?"
Lou: "Big bad Lisa, who always gets what she wants, has a vulnerable spot when it comes to family."
Li: (Shrugs) "Guess thats what happens when you've never had one."
Lou: "Yeah but look at the bright side, you'll have one, one day. And whatever you missed growing up you'll know not to let that happen with your family."
She settled her head against his shoulder as they danced and she stared over at the Cerullo's.
G: "Lois..."
Lo: "No ma..listen. I love you but I'm a big girl...and I don't need you harping on me to have this big wedding. Maybe Frannie liked it...maybe she dreamed of coach carriages and flowers, but not me..I would dream of something different, something I could always remember and not need  to watch a video once a month to recapture everything. I want to do this on my own, I want to be able to show you who I am...and what it is I think a perfect wedding should be."
G: "I wanted my children to have the wedding of their dreams. I wanted to send my kids off right."
Lo: "If you really mean that, you'll let me do this on my own."
G: "If that's what you want."
Lo: "It is." She reached for her hand. "Doesn't mean I don't want you involved, just let me ask for help when I need it."
Gloria nodded.
Car: "Now Gloria, don't cry...you still have Louie's wedding."
Lo: "Well...that's another thing. I just told Frannie that, so I could distract you with another wedding...don't be mad at them I asked Louie to go along with it..He didn't want to but he did it to help me out and Lisa..well she went along because she...well I don't know why."
Gloria and Carmine's mouths dropped as Louie and Lisa made their way back to their table.
Louie laughed.
Lou: "By the look on their faces I take it you told them."
G: "Your not getting married?"
He shook his head.
Car: "She's not his...Your not his fiance?"
Li: "No.." She bit her lip. "I hope you don't hate me for lying.."
G: "Who are you?"
Lou: "Well she didn't lie about who she was...except for being my fiance, but um we're with each other...I guess." He shrugged. "What I mean is .." He looked around trying to figure out how to explain. He grabbed Lisa's face and kissed her lips gently. "There see...we can still do that...you find a name for it."
Gloria and Carmine just looked at them.
Li&Lou: "Hey it was all Lois' idea.."

Brenda sat in the back of a limo her cheeks stained with tears, more falling freely as she stared out the window her head clouded with memories...
Flashback:
~Brenda was sitting with her friends playing with dolls.
Katie: "What did you put on you Christmas list for Santa?"
Jackie: "A Barbie dreamhouse."
K; "I put a doggy."
J: "What about you Brenda?"
Brenda looked up from the doll.
B: "I asked Santa for my mommy back."
~
She covered her face with her hands and sobbed. She grew up in a house where love was a dream and anger was a way of life. She'd dream of what it would be like if her mother had lived...would they be happy? Would she be able to do all those things girls did with their mothers? Her whole life she lived with a lie...and now she lived with the truth. That the years of heart ached weren't necessary....That  God hadn't taken her mother, she chose to leave her. Dreams shattered.

Flashback
~ Brenda was dressed in a ball gown, it was her sweet 16.
B: "My seven teenth candle goes to my mother. God took her when I was just three years old and sadly I don't have one memory to hold onto. Just a few photos in shoe box. I wish at night I could be three again just to hear her voice or see her smile. I know she's not hear with me tonight or has been the last 13 years but she's always there in my heart." Tears streamed her face as she light the candle by herself.~

She shook her head, clear of the thoughts and layed her head back against the leather seat. She hugged her self and curled up on the seat, consoling herself. Suddenly as she sobbed she felt the car begin to lose control. She looked up, frightened and could see the driver try frantically to control the car. As he braked upon the icy road he skidded across the highway. Brenda grabbed onto the door.
B: "What's going on?" Her eyes widened. "Nooooo!" The car crashed into the brick divider, She closed her eyes as two car's crashed into the limo. One one the side Brenda was sitting and one on the back. The door was crashed in and Brenda's body went forward as the impact of both the car that crashed into them from behing and the trunk, hit her. Their was silence. THe driver was bleeding from the head and slouched over the wheel. The car was totaled and Brenda layed completely still.


Sonny was pacing the hotel room, when their was a knock on the door. He sighed relieved and hurried to the door, swinging it open to two cops. His face fell as they spoke gently to him. He grabbed onto the door for support. His legs weak his heart numb. He covered his mouth with one hand and shook his head. He wiped his hand down his face as tears threatened.

Father Gallo was yawning as he walked into the livingroom, he turned to the T.V. and his eyes widened as "Brenda Barrett In Car Accident" Flashed the screen with the fireman using the Jaws of life to get her out of the car. He covered his mouth with his hands.
FG: "Oh dear god, watch over her."

Frannie looked around the table. Lois and Ned were laughing at one another, Louie and Lisa were kissing and Gloria and Carmine were smiling at eachother. Tears began to fall from her eyes.
Car: "What's the matter Frannie.."
She shook her head.
G: "Fran?"
Fr: "I didn't want to say anything..with the weddings and what not.."
Lo: "What is it?"
Fr: "Me and Richie are getting a divorce." She sobbed.
Lois stood and went over to her sister wrapping her arms around her.
Lo: "Sshh...it's gonna be ok."
Frannie wiped her tears.
Fr: "I don't know where we went wrong." The table was silent as she spoke. "What am I gonna do.."
Louie looked up and saw Carly and Jason running into the restaurant, Carly's makeup was running as she hurried to the table.
Lou: (Afraid to ask) "What? What happened..."
Carly sobbed and they all looked at him.
J: "It's Brenda...she's..been in an accident."


Chapter 131.

Reporter: "Just hours after Brenda Barrett told the world she was pregnant, she was in a fatal car accident. Paramedic's, officers and firemen arrived at the scene to see Miss Barrett, trapped inside the car. They used the Jaws Of Life, to remove the doors of the vehichle and carried the limp Pop star out on a stretcher. The driver, was pronounced dead and their is still no word and Miss Barrett. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family as we wait for word.'' Pause. "Cut."
She put the mic down and looked over at the strand of reporters that waited outside the hospital.


Sonny was sitting his head in his hands, alone.Tears streamed down his face as he waited...waited to hear some sort of information, anything on the woman he loved and their baby. He prayed silently for his family to make it out of this. As he sobbed he suddenly felt a hand fall to his shoulder. He looked up, his cheeks stained with tears. Carly wrapped her arms around him and he held onto her so tight.
Lo: "Sonny did you speak to the doctor."
He shook his head.
S: "They won't tell me anything." He whispered as he stared into space. "I can't lose her." He shook his head. "I can't..."
Carly ran her fingers through his hair.
Ca: "Ssh.." She cried. "She's gonna be just fine...you'll see."
Gloria sat beside Sonny as Carly pulled back and wiped the tears from his eyes. Gloria patted his leg.
G: "Is there anyone you'd like me to call?"
Sonny shrugged and then turned to her.
S: "My mother...and Gallo."
Gloria nodded and  brought his face to hers and kissed his forehead.
Louie let go of Lisa's hand and went over to the front desk of the hospital.
Lou: "Excuse me..this mans been waiting...without a word being spoken to him, Now are you gonna give us any info on Brenda Barrett?"
N: "Sir, I haven't heard from the doctor...so why don't you just take a seat and wait!'
Lou: "Damn it lady I don't think your listening!" He pounded his fist on the counter.
S: "What if something happens to her? What if I never get to tell her how much I love her again...She ran out upset..I shouldn't have let her go...I told her not to go.." He shook his head.
Ja: "Sonny this isn't anyone's fault...don't go blaming yourself now."
Dr.: "Is there a Mr. Corinthos here?"
Sonny swallowed and looked up at the doctor.
Dr: "Why don't we go in my office."
S: "Anything you have to say you can say infront of them."
Dr: (Nodded) "Very well. Miss Barrett is stable but very very critical. She bled internally and we were able to stop that, but we were not able to save the baby. I'm very sorry."
Sonny wiped his hand down his face and let and let out a whimper.
Dr: "However There's more.."
He pulled his hands away from his face and let the tears roll down.
Dr: "Her back is broken."Sonny moaned as he shook his head. Carly pulled his head to rest on her shoulder as he listened to the doctor." We're going to have to perform a surgery, and quickly. It consists of putting two rods on each side of her spine to hold it up." Tears streamed down his fce as he bowed his head, the tears fell off his face. The doctor paused.
Louie looked at the doctor.
Lou: ''Will this complicate anything for her..."
Dr: "There is a strong possibility she may.."He swallowed. "May never walk again."
Sonny lifted his face.
S: "What do you mean never walk again?..She's paralyzed?"
Dr: "Her condition right now? she has no control of her legs. She's near paralization. Look this is a tragedy..theres no easy words...My kids got a poster of her on her wall...she's a star and theirs always hope. I have seen in many cases, people come out of this positive. With the right treatments and therapy, she may very well walk again, but she may not...and dancing performing, is very unlikely."
Sonny just shook his head.
Dr.: "We'll have to have your signature for the surgery."
He signaled to the nurse.
S: (Hoarse) "Whatever you need.."
Lois looked at him and tears rolled down her cheeks, he was pitiful.
The doctor handed him the clipboard and he signed his name through his tears. He looked up at the doctor.
S: "I wanna see her.."
Dr: "She's not awake."
S: "I don't care."
The doctor nodded.
Dr: "Just be quick..Follow me."
Sonny handed him the papers and followed him into the E.R. The doctor stopped infront of a room and turned to Sonny
Dr: "I'm sorry for your loss."
Sonny nodded as he bit back a sob. Trying so hard to contain himself.
S: (Whispered hoarsly) "Thank you."
The doctor walked away and Sonny stepped closer and peered into the window, looking at the woman he loved, lying helpless. He took a deep breath and swallowed, as he walked into the dark room. He tilted his head as his tears fell. Her face was all cut up and she just layed there. A oxygen mask upon her. He pulled the chair over to her bed and sat down. He took her hand in his and he laced his fingers through hers, for a moment he just stared at their joined hands. He looked up at her.
S: "Brenda.." He whispered. "I need you to listen to me, I need you to listen to me real good." He paused. "I know it don't too look good, everything looks pretty bleek. Your probably asking yourself, 'Why would I want to endure all that?' I don't have a good answer for that...but I have a selfish one. You pull through this...and if you can't think of a reason why you should...think of me. Think of me because without you I'm nothing... It'll be hard, sweetheart I know...but we'll do it together. I promised you I wasn't going to go anywhere, so don't you go anywhere either....Please." He looked around the room and saw the fetal monitor, and next to the picture of the heart was a zero. He turned his gaze to her stomach. Gently he ran his fingers over it and closed his eyes. Letting go of everything he tried so hard to hide he layed his head against her empty stomach and cried. "I'm sorry...so sorry.." He sobbed. "I wanted you..I really did. I couldn't wait to see who you would be. And I wanted to fill your life with everything...with love...and joy just like you did for me and your mom. From that moment she told me you were coming, I loved you, I did...and I always will." He turned his head and placed a gentle kiss on her stomach. "I'll see you one day...for now you be the best angel you can be...and maybe look over you mom." Tears slid down his cheeks as he lifed his head off of her and he touched her cheek.
S: "You come back to me you hear....don't you leave me too.." His thumb caressed her soft skin as he titled his head. "I love you Brenda..."
The door opened and the doctor looked at Sonny.
Dr: "Mr Corinthos...we have to take her into the O.R. now."
He looked over his shoulder and nodded towards the doctor. He stood up and pressed his lips to her forhead. He turned to the doctor and walked out with him.
Dr: "Operation should take minimum two hours...I'll send someone to tell you how it's going."
He nodded.
S: "Take good care of her."
Dr: "Of course."
Sonny looked at him a moment and then turned and headed to the waiting room.
Ja: "There he is.."
Lo: "How she look?"
He shrugged and bit his lip as he shoved his hands into his pockets. He took a few steps. Louie walked over to him.
Lou: "One step at a time..she'll come through this."
Sonny looked at him and then just nodded.
Gl: "Sonny your mothers on her way."
S: "Thanks Gloria."
Car: "Is there anything we can get you?"
S: "I'm fine...I'm gonna go in the chapel for a while."
Ca: "Want some company?"
He looked at Carly and shook his head.
S: "Don't worry I won't do anything to crazy."
He sighed heavily and walked away from them.
Lo: "They're gonna need us."
Ja: "She's right you know...it's not gonna be so easy even goes fine with the surgery...She still won't walk and Brenda won't be able to handle that."
Louie wiped his face.
Lou: "Never fails.." Lisa rubbed his back consolingly.

Sonny walked into the small chapel. He went straight to the first row of seats closest to the altar. He kneeled and made the sign of the cross before taking a seat. He leaned forward and clasped his hands together as he stared at the crucifix. Silently he prayed.
S: "Amen." He paused. "Stone...you picked a fine time to leave...doesn't mean I'm still not gonna bother you for a few favors. I know since you left you've been looking over us, and I know that maybe the only reason Brenda made it out of that car alive, is because you were watching over her. But our baby died...never had the chance to be born, to see how much we loved him...He's all alone up there, he doesn't have his parents to look out for him...to guide him." His voice began to become hoarse. "I really would like it if you'd look after him for us. If he can't be with us, then theres no one I'd want him to be with more than to be with you. You were always there for me and Brenda and I know you'd be there for him or her." He sobbed and as the tears cascaded down his cheeks he tried to wipe them away. "Theres just one more thing...maybe you can pull afew strings up there and make Brenda come out of this...I just ..I don't want her to give up...if she could just come out of this with that strong willed spirit...I promise I won't leave her side...I'll help her, doesn't matter if she doesn't walk again, I just I can't live without her...Withour her smile, without her laugh, Is it too much to ask for her to be happy, even without her ability to walk or to dance..." He sniffled. "I know you'll try your best..and that's all I need." He covered his face with his hands. "Besides her..."

The hours passed by and there was no word on the outcome of the surgery. Sonny was now sitting with a room full of loved ones. The elevator doors opened and Sonny looked up to see his mother and Father Gallo walk off the elevator. Adela turned around looking frantically for her son and when her eyes caught his gaze she hurried to him. As he stood she wrapped her arms around him.
A: "Oh mijo.." She closed her eyes as she caressed his back, Sonny clung to her.
S: "The baby didn't make it.."
A: "Oh dear jesus...I'm so sorry Michael..."He pulled back and she touched his face.
S: "The doctor doesn't think Brenda will..will walk again." He bowed his head and  rubbed his eyes. Father Gallo placed his hand on his shoulder and Sonny looked up at him..Gallo pulled him into an embrace.
FG: "Brenda's a strong young woman....if theres a will there's a way."
Those same elevator doors opened again. Sonny stared over Gallo's shoulder at Lawrence. He pulled away from him. Behind lawrence 98 Degrees stood, they walked around him and went straight towards Sonny. But Sonny was just standing still staring at Lawrence.
N: "Sonny is there any word yet?"
Lo: "No, she's in surgery right now." She looked at Nick, who just sighed.
N: "Thanks."
She nodded.
Lawrence began to walk towards them.
Dr: "you mind if we sit with you and wait"
Louie shook his head and they sat.
Carly: "Sonny?"
Lawrence looked at Sonny.
Law: "How is she?..I have to tell the people.. and rebook the tour and--"
Sonny stepped to him, he grabbed Lawrence by the collar.
S: "Get the fuck out of here..I don't want to see you face ever again, you understand?"
Ja; "Sonny..c'mon..this isn't the time."
S: "Oh no?" He  got a stronger grip on him. "You told her to have an abortion..to satisfy your contract...to play it off as a miscarriage..You made her doubt herself and her child and for that I'm gonna make you suffer. MY baby died tonight, are you happy? Hurry up! Call the reporters..Brenda can be a teenage icon again!" Sonny threw him up against a wall. "You disgust me...you lowlife piece of shit..Brenda will never see her baby but she shouldn't let that bother herbecause she can SING! Is that how it goes?"
Law: "Brenda's better off.."
Sonny laughed and threw his fist at him.
Law: "You son of a bitch! Your the ruination of her! You and your fucking spawn!"
N: "LAWRENCE THATS ENOUGH!"
They turned to Nick.
Law: "You stay out of this!"
N: "I don't take orders from you..."
Law: "Oh yes you do."
N: "Not as of today, we're no longer with L&L entertainment and you my friend, we're gonna destroy you..YOu get the fuck of here and you leave now before you give me something else to hold over your head."
Lawrence pushed Sonny off of him.
Law: "I'll sue you just like I will her."
Jeff: "Go right ahead."
Law: "Your all gonna be sorry about this."
S: "LEAVE!"
Dr: "Mr.Corinthos..'
Sonny turned around as Lawrence straightened himself up and was escorted out of the building.
S: "How is she?"
Dr: "Surgery went well, we were able to put the two titanium rods on each side of her spine. However we had to close incision with 400 stitches. She's gonna be in some pain for a while. She got lucky one more millimeter and her spine would have been severed."
S: "When can I see her?"
Dr: "Right now we're keeping her in recovery for a few hours, when she comes to it we'll move her into ICU..When she awakes someone will have to tell her all that has happened. Would you like too?"
S: "I..I wouldn't know what to say."
Dr: "Thats fine I'll tell her."
N: "Sonny I know you probably don't need this right now, but theres a ton of people out there, no one knows if she's alive or not."
S: "What're you saying."
N: "Now that the surgery is over you might want to say something to the public."
S: "You mean a press conference."
N: Yeah."
S: "If thats what has to be done."
N: "I'll make the arrangements."
A:"Can we get you anything?"
S: "No..thank you guys for all coming, you should go get some rest."
Lou: "What hotel are you guys at?"
S: "Belage."
Lo: "Are you sure about this? We don't mind staying."
S: "Yeah..it's been a long night."
She hugged him.
Lo; "Call us if anything."
S: "I will."
G: "Adela you gonna come with us?"
She looked at her son.
A: "No.."
S: "Ma go...I want to be alone with her."
A: "Michael.."
S: "I appreciate it..just please?"
She nodded. Father Gallo patted his back.
FG: "Make sure you give her our love."
S: "I will.." Louie walked over to him with Lisa.
Lou: "You need me you just call."
S: "I will thanks." He looked at Lisa. "Thanks for staying."
Li: "No thanks."
She kissed his cheek.
They all began to leave and Jason turned to Carly.
Ja: "Carls you comin?"
Ca: "No..you go, I wanna stay." Sonny looked at Carly.
S: "You don't have to.."
Ca: "I said I want to."
Jason looked between the both of them then just turned an left with the others. Carly held her hand out to him and he took it sighing. Together they sat.
S: "Thanks for staying."
Ca: "I know you alot better than you think, You need somebody."
He shook his head and rubbed his eyes.
S: "I'm scared.." He whispered as Carly looked at him. "When she wakes up her whole life has changed, I'm scared I won't help her the way she needs me too."
Ca: "Look watching you and her together for almost two years, watching you two take the good and the bad, and just make the best out of it....you'll do the same with this. Sure it's a bigger obstacle. But Brenda is a strong person and with you behind her she's even stronger."
S: "It all had to happen at once..losing the baby and her being..."He couldn't finish.
Ca: "Ssh..." She hugged him tightly. "I know it hurts, but trust me one day it'll make sense."
Nick cleared his throat.
N: "Press is waiting."
Sonny looked at Carly.
Ca; "Go, I'll be here."
He nodded and kissed her forehead. He sighed and stood, looking at Nick.
Ni: "I'll get the doctor.."
S: "Wait..." He looked at him a moment. "Thank you...for everything your doing..I appreciate it and I know Brenda will too. She's lucky to have your friendship."
Ni: "Yeah well...she's luckyin alot of other ways to." He  motioned towards him. "I'll go get the doctor."
Sonny watched after him for just a moment and then walked towards the elevator.

The room which the press were allowed in was packed.
Rep1: "Live at the Hospital Brenda Barrett is in, in just moments her boyfriend Sonny Corinthos and Dr. Fitzgerald, will hold a press conference, referring to the stars condition."
Rep2: "Here they are now!!'
As Sonny and the doctor walked onto the podium, camera's flashed continously as they took their seats. The room silenced.
Rep1: "Mr Corinthos can you please make a statement on her condition."
Sonny stared at all the flashing lights, silent.
S: "4 hours ago I was told she was stable but very very critical. Dr. Fitzgerald then informed me they needed to perform surgery."
Dr: "Miss Barrett's back was broken. We had to operate, and place two titanium rods on each side of her spine, to hold it up. A millimeter more and her spine would've been severed." Sonny looked down his hand covered his mouth.
Rep: "Does this mean Brenda will never walk again?"
Dr: "Theres a god chance she will be able to walk again, but to perform as she did, well it's to close to impossible."
Rep2: "Mr. Corinthos what about the baby?"
Sonny looked up and removed his hand from his mouth. Hoarsly he whispered.
S: "The baby didn't make it."
Rep2: "I'm sorry."
Sonny nodded as more cameras flashed and questions were directed towards the doctor.

Chapter 132.

Louie opened the door to he hotel room. He threw the keys on the desk as Lisa opened the lights.
He sighed and sat down on the bed. Lisa closed the door and leaned against it, her arms crossed at her chest.
Li: "You ok?"
Lou: "Alot better than Sonny is.."
She shook her head sadly.
Li: "I don't think I've ever seen someone break so many hearts by just looking at how grief stricken he is."
Lou: "You don't know the half of it behind that man." Louie siged and shook his head. "Brenda is Sonny's whole life...not only did he just lose their baby but he could've lost her."
Li: "You could tell how much he loves her."She paused. "I don't them that well, but I think they could make it through this don't you?"
Lou: "They could've made it through anything...no question about it, both have that fiesty attitude and won't give up...but things are different. Both are gonna grieve and Brenda won't be as strong. You see Brenda had insecurities when she was soaring the charts and now knowing she may never walk again, she's not gonna be that same person. She's goona be vulnerable and insecure and she's gonna push."
Li: "Maybe he won't let her push."
Lou: "Oh he won't for awhile...but then they'll both lose control.."
Li: "I don't know about that...I'm a sucker for happiness. Two people who love each other that much surely can find away to make it through such a tragedy."
Lou: "Sometime life isn't for happiness."
Li: "Well I think we all control our own lives our own happiness..if we want it enough we will have it."
Louie just stared at her.
Lou: "What a day this has been.."
He turned and walked into the bathroom. Lisa sighed heavily and just threw herself on the bed.

Carly was sleeping on a char and Sonny was sitting next to her. His head thrown back his eyes open. Nick was sitting across from them with his brother. Drew was sleeping and Nick was reading. Sonny turned and tried to get comfortable, it was no use.  He sighed and stood, pacing. Nick looked up from his book.
N: "You ok?"
S: "Fine...what time is it?"
N: "Almost 5.."
S: "She should be up by now.."
N: "Well the doctor's probably talking to her."
S: "You think I should've told her?"
N: "I don't think I would've had the guts to tell her either."
Sonny looked down and sighed.
Dr: "Mr Corinthos?"
Sonny looked up and watched the doctor wipe his eyes.
S: "What happened?"
Dr: "She's awake and she knows all thats happened."
S: "I wanna see her."
Dr: "I don't think that's best right now..she really doesn't want to see anyone."
S: "I don't care..I'm going in."
Sonny walked past him.
Dr: "Mr. Corinthos--" He tried to stop him but he was too late. Sonny didn't even hesitate before walking into Brenda's ICU room. He paused as soon as he opened the door and caught a glimpse of her. Her face was covered by her hands as she sobbed uncontrollably. She looked up when the door closed, her face stained with tears her eyes bloodshot.
B: "Don't...go away...please."
Sonny opened his mouth to speak but the words did not come out. He tried again.
S: "I'm not going anywhere."
B: "Sonny go!...I don't want you here.''
S: "No I'm not leaving you." He said firm as she continued to cry. She began to plead with him.
B: "Soony please! I'm begging you I don't..I don't want to talk to anyone."
S: "Fine you don't have to say a word, I'm still not leaving."
She wiped her hands down her face and yelled.
B: "DAMN IT Sonny!" Tears fell rapidly."I don't want you to see me like this!"
He stepped closer towards her.
S: "Why huh?" His voice was shaky as he tried so hard to keep control.
She shook her head as she cried.
B: "Please just leave.."
S: "I'm not leaving you and thats final."
She covered her face again and like a little girl she sobbed. She broke his heart, and he lost all control. He walked over to her and pulled her into his arms. She cried on his shoulder like a little baby.
B: "Why did this have to happen? Why?" She cried out for answers. He caressed her back as tears fell from his eyes.
S: "I wish I had the answers.."
She pulled back and gasped wiping quickly at her tears. She touched his face. She shook her head as she looked at him.
B: "I'm sorry...I'm so sorry."
His hand covered hers and he looked at her quizical.
S: "Why are you sorry."
She bowed her head and cried.
B: "Our baby's...gone." She sobbed and he pulled her to him again.
S: "Shhh..he's in a better place. He's with Stone now...and" He struggled with his words. "I feel better knowing Stone is looking out for him, you know? He's not alone."
She tugged on his shirt as he rocked her gently.
B: "This wasn't suppose to happen...we were suppose to be happy from now on..."She leaned her head on his shoulder and just cried as she spoke. "When I woke up...I couldn't feel my legs...and I felt so empty..how can I lose so much in one night...How can everything just disapear like that?"
Sonny was silent as he tried his best to consol her.
S: "I don't know baby..but you know we can get through...we will."
She shook her head.
B:"Sonny what if I never walk again?"
S: "Don't say that you hear me...you will walk again."
B: "What good is a singer who can't dance...what good is a girlfriend who can't walk.."
He pulled back and looked at her, as he cupped her face.
S: "Don't you ever let me hear you say that again...I love you...with everything in me and your fans love you too, that won't change no matter what...you just don't give...not on your music and please not on me.."
She just looked at him.
S: "I mean it.."
B: "I love you..." She wrapped her arms around him and just held him close. He was there for her and he wanted to be, no matter what the circumstance, no matter what the outcome. But guilt hit her, and it hit her hard...but for the moment she'd let him console her. For after all she did need him.

The following morning Brenda's eyes fluttered open. AS her eyes adjusted they fell upon Sony. He was sleeping in the chair next to her bed. She triedto sit up but and excruciating pain shot through her.
B: (Wincing) "Oh..." SHe felt around for the button that called the nurses. Sonny stirred just as she pressed it and when his eyes finally opened a nurse ran to Brenda.
N; "What happened?"
Sonny sat up immediately becoming alert.
B: "I...I tried to sit up and...the pain."
Nu: "Alright, lay back gently." She winced and Sonny watched intently.
Nu: "I'll go get you so pain medication. Next time you want to sit up use the button."
Brenda nodded and watched the nurse leave, Sonny stood.
S: "You ok?"
B: "I will be once she gives me some pain killers."
He moved a strand of hair from her face, tilting his head as he stared at her. She closed her eyes at the pain.
S; "I wish there was something --"
B: "Don't..don't wish things that are impossible...they'll drive you crazy." She opened her eyes and looked at him.
S: "I may not be able to help you physically but U will help you one way or another.."
B: "I guess." She sighed as the nurse walked back into the room handing her the medication.
Nu: "Should take affect in a few minutes."
B: "Thank you."
She walked out again and Sonny looked at Brenda.
S: "What is it?"
B: "What do you mean?" SHe closed her eyes.
S: "You've just been through hell...we lost our baby and you..well.." He was silent."
B: "Say it.." She looked at him. "C'mon say it...and I'm PARALYZED!"
He shook his head.
S: "Maybe I don't get it....your going through all this pain...I want to help you." He turned his head frustrated. "Why in god'sname won't you let me!" He wiped his hands down his face. "I love you so much Brenda...Damn it! Don't push me AWAY!NOT NOW! When we both need eachother so much."
She shook her head as tears threatened.
B: "You don't need me!"
He moved closer to the bed looking her dead in the eyes.
S: "That's not so..I need you...I need you like air...like water." He paused. "I need you! Period!"
She shook her head as tears fell from her eyes, it was almost like the more she shook her head the more she tried not to hear his words.
B: "You need the Brenda from before last night! The Brenda who was carrying your baby! The Brenda who could walk!"
S: "NO!" They stared at one another, both in tears. "It hurts to know we may never be those same people...or at least not for a while...that our baby didn't have a chance to be born, but it doesn't change any of my feelings for you. The fact you can't walk doesn't change how much I love...how much I always will love you. THe same way it doesn't change how much I need and want you."
She stopped him and snapped at him.
B: "YOU CAN'T HAVE WHAT YOU WANT!"
She closed her eyes and let herself cry.
B: "I don' want to hear--"
S: "You don't want to hear the truth?"
He moved to touch her face but she flinched away.
S: "You don't want to hear that nothing could stand in the way of me loving you...needing you and wanting you. But you better learn to accept it because that will never change,not as long as I'm breathing."
B: "YOU DON'T WANT TO BE WITH A CRIPPLED!"
He grabbed a hold of her shoulder snad forced her to look at him.
S: "Your right...I don't, I do however want you...and it doesn't matter if you can walk or not..Your legs AREN'T The reason I fell in love with you." He stopped and just looked at her lovingly, his eyes pleading with hers. "I love you because of who I am because of you...I love you because you light up my life with the simplest things you do...Baby it doesn't matter...believe me." He whispered.
B: "Listen to me...This is still new...and your patience will wear out..your getting ready to settle down and you don't know how happy I was to know you wanted to do that with me. But you deserve more...you deserve to be with a woman you can hold on your arm, a woman who you'llbe able to make love  and one day give you children." She sobbed "Those are things a wheel chair victim can't give you...You deserve more than that."
S: "What do I have to do to get through to you!? I'm not interested in anything or anyone else but you. Your all I want...jesus Brenda I almost lost you last night theres no wya I'm gonna lose you now."
B: "Damn it Sonny! I'm giving you an out right now...TAKE IT!"
S: "No! What is it Brenda? What do I gotta do..Wanna get married? We'll do it Right now!"Tears rolled down her cheeks.
B: "Stop.."
S: "Will that prove to you how serious I am! Huh? Because I'll get Gallo here in 20 minutes...Is that what you want?"
She shook her head as she sobbed hysterically.
B: "No...no.."
S: "Then baby Believe me...don't push me away. Give me a chance to show you this can work...that We can still have it all....I'm beggin you."
She covered her face as she cried. Tears rolled down his cheeks. She removed her hands and looked at him. About to speak when the door opened and in filed in Lois, Louie, Frannie, Carmine, Gloria and Adela. Brenda looked at them but he kept his eyes on her.
Lois looked at Brenda's tear-stained face and then watched SOnny look down and wipe his eyes.
Lo: "Did we come at a bad time?"
Brenda wiped her eyes.
B: "No.."
Louie walked over to Brenda and kissed her forehead.
Lou: "I should slap you upside the head for scaring us like that." He looked at her. "Seriously..youscared the shit out of us Bren..
She just looked down.
Fr: "Your waiting room is packed...we're only allowed 5 minutes or Carly will start a scene."
G: "And we really can spare one of those." She looked at Brenda. "Oh mischina..I'm so sorry for you"
Adlea took hold of Brenda's hand and caressed her hair.
A: "How do you feel sweetheart?"
B: "Oh I've seen better days.." She said weakly and looked up at Adela.
Car: "You will again.."
Sonny took a deep breath and walked to the back of the room.
Lo: "I have it all planned Girlfriend...since your gonna have to take it easy for awhile...and recooperate I got you a little something."
She handed her a card and Brenda opened it.
B: "A membership to Blockbuster."
Lois grinned.
Lo: "I figured we'd rent a bunch of movies and just watch them at least 2 times a week, what do you think? Of course we'll send the Blonde on a string back and forth to get them.." She winked and Brenda bit her lip.
B: (Choked up) "Thank you Lo.."
Lo: "Stop that...or You'll make me cry and then my mascara run and it won't be a pretty sight..Besides what are friends for."
Louie leaned against the door next to Sonny and whispered.
Lou: "How you holding up?"
Sonny just shrugged and then looked down.
G: "Do you know when they're gonna release you?"
B: "Uh the docotr said not until the stitches are out...which will be in a month or so."
Fr: "Such a long time.."
B: "It's not like I have anything else to do."
A: "Sweetheart thats not a good attitude to have.."
Sonny glanced at Brenda and the he turned and walked out. Lois looked at Louie who just shook his head sadly. Brenda watched the door close and then she turned to Adela and smiled weakly.
Lo: "Um..why don't you guys give me and Louie a minute with Mariah.."
Brenda looked at her.
Lo: "Well come on now...you guys can come back in...we won't take that long."
Louie opened the door.
Lou: "C'mon Andiamo!"
G: "Well alright...and you watch yourself Louie...your not to big for the spoon."
He grinned at his ma.
Lou: "I'll keep that in mind."
Adela kissed Brenda.
A: "We'll be right outside.
Brenda nodded.
B: "Thanks for coming."
Adela just nodded and followed the others out. Louie closed the door and him and his sister sat on each side of her. Louie took her hand.
Lou: "We thought you could use someone to talk to.."
She nodded as she tried not to cry She covered her face with one hand andthen pulled it away to reveal fresh tears.
B: "I don't know why God made this happen.."
Lou: (Softly) "You know sometimes a person has to go to go through such a big ordeal to become a stronger person."
B: "That's just it I don't think I can make it through this...I don't know how to just go on with my life...when everythings so different."
LO: "Your a strong woman and you have so many people to help you."
B: "I don't want help...I want everything to go to back to the way they were. I want to have my baby inside of me...I want to be able to walk...God should've taken me...because what good am I now..My wings are broken...my soul destroyed.."
LOU: "Bren don't talk like that...your lucky to have lived...you wouldn't to walk away from all thats ahead of you."
B: "Ahead of me? Louie I can never go on stage again...I can't have that fame again and..most importantly..I can't get my baby back..."
Lo: "Alot of people have miscarriages and years later they're able to move past that and sure it hurts but they move on. They don't forget...I mean that was apart of you the last few months, and that was a dream for you, you'll never forget but one day it won't hurt so much and you'll have your dreams back.''
B: "I can't have any children... are you kidding?" She shook her head, "I don't even want any more..I want that baby that lived inside of me...and nothing can replace that..." She cried. "Nothing can replace the joy it brought or the hope...and the love."
LOU: "WHy can't you have children...because you can't walk?"
B: "It would be impossible to actually get pregnant and then be pregnant while your paralyzed."
Lou: "Your not...the doctor said you may walk again...He's seen it be done before...But you gotta work for that. It's gonna be hard but You got all of us and you got Sonny."
She looked down and shook her head.
B: "No..Sonny's just around because he thinks it's the right hting to do...because it hasn't hit him yet that forever with a girl in a wheel chair isn't what he wants."
Lo: "How would you know what SOnny wants...if everytime he tells you you refuse to believe it."
B: "I love him to much to be stuck with me forever like this."
Lou: "Stuck isn't what he is...he loves you Brenda and he doesn't want to leave you because of how much he does. Let him love you.."
Lo: "You guys made promises and built dreams together...find away to live them out TOGETHER."
B: "Lois he's all I ever wanted..I chased him and chased him..wished and hoped and then I got him..And even with a record deal under my belt a his baby inside of me, I felt I wasn't enough. I got nothing now and I'm  stuck in a wheel chaird for maybe the rest of my life...The Sonny Corinthos, the most populatr guy in school...the most powerful man in Port charles...THe mobster and crippled....Yeah I can see the headlines now...We fit before...but now how can I be enough?"
Lou: "You were enough before the accident and your enough now...things aren't the same as they were in High School...we all changed. Love isn't a game you play for fun it's a game you play for keeps now. You weren't enough because of the baby or because of your career...those were just bonus' you were enough to him...because who you are inside and who he is when he's with you. He loves you Brenda and it's not materialistic love it's the kind we all are waiting for...the kind we dream about finding...and the accident didn't change that."
B: "You think so?"
Lou: "Bren, your enough without the extra's before and now."
Lo: "Do you want him to be with you, to be by yourside through all this and never leave?"
She nodded.
B: "But only if he's happy...and I don't know how to make him happy.."
Lou: "What do you think made him happy before...same things work now. Being with you makes him happy. You both want to be with eachother...you both need eachother so stop holding back and if he want's out then let him say so...right now he doesn't and take that for all it's worth."
B: "Everyone's been coming in here telling me how lucky I am to have made it out alive...and I just say to myself how am I lucky at all...I finally got my answer. I"m lucky to have friends like you and a guy who I've just crushed to still love me and want to be by my side."
Lo: "Yeah well you've done alot for us too...how could we not be here for you."
She looked at Louie.
Lo: "I'm impressed.."
Lou: "Why?"
Lo: "Well for the first time you really knew what you were talking about."
Lou: "Oh shut up.."
Lo: "What is Lisa doing to my brother.." She grinned.
B: "Who's Lisa?"
LO: "She's the new bar maid at Lucky Sevens that um...Louie's been...whats the word Boinging?"
Lou: "Lois...you better run." Her and Brenda laughed."
B: "When do I get to meet her.."
Lou: "She was here lastnight, I left her at the hotel."
Lois looked at Brenda.
Lo: "Probably couldn't get up after lastnight."
Brenda laughed and Louie shook his head sulking.

Sonny was heading back to Brenda's room with a cup of coffee in his hand.
Ja; "Sonny.."
He turned and looked at Jason.
Ja: "How's Bren?"
S:"I don't know Jason how would you be after you found out you lost your baby and you can't walk?" Sonny closed his eyes.."I'm sorry..."
Ja; "Hey it's ok...I just..well Benny told me to tell you That he got back the tracing report on that woman...She is who she says she is."
Sonny looked at him, blankly.
Ja; "Sonny? Who's he talking about..."
He shook himself out of his daze.
S: "Brenda's mother."
Ja: "What?"
S: "IT's a long story..You can't tell anybody ok?"
Ja; "Sonny whats going on?"
S: "Promise me..."
JA:'..Sonny.."
S: "When Brenda found out she was alive she left and got in that car...She hasn't mentioned it and I rather she forget it anyway."
Ja: "I won't say a word."
Sonny nodded.
S: "Thank you."
Jason watched as he turned and walked towards Brenda's room.

The three friends were laughing when Sonny walked in. Louie and Lois looked up.
Lo: "You walked in at the right time...I was just about to tell Brenda how my parents reacted to Louie having a fiance.. What was one of their questions..."She doesn't have a nozzle?"
Sonny threw her a weak smile and Brenda smiled at Louie.
Lou: "I'm gonna kill her."
B: "I can't wait to meet her."
S: "Who?"
Louie looked at him.
Lou: "Lisa..."
S: "Oooh...hows that going?"
Lou: "We're just having some fun."
Lo: "Well I think our five minutes was up along time ago..."
Lou: "I think so.." They stood.
B: "When are you guys going home?"
Lou: "Tomorrow night." He turned to Sonny. "Don't worry about a thing..between me and Jason we have everything covered."
S; "Thanks...I'll  check in."
Lois kissed Brenda's cheek.
Lo: "Remember as soon as you must this joint I'll be waiting with tons of movies."
Brenda smiled.
B: "I remember...and thank you both, for the talk I appreciate it and I think it's just what I needed." She looked at Sonny.
Lou: "Anytime Mariah."
They headed towards the door and bid farwell to Sonny.
S: "Bye.." He said as they walked out of the room. "I-"
B: "Before you say anything hear me out ok?"
He nodded and sat beside her bed.
S: "Shoot.."
B: "I do need you..I need you more than anything now..and I don't want to lose you. What I'm saying is I'm not gonna push you away, just promise me I won't be a burden to you or anything like that...and when and if you want out, you'll say so."
He reached for her hand and placed his over hers.
S: "You can't be a burden to me..as for wanting out..I doubt I would...but If there was a day that I did I wouldn't pretend everything was ok..i think that would make things worse."
She nodded.
B: "Good we understand eachother than."
He stood up and leaned over her.
S: "I love you.." He caressed her cheek. "your so beautiful.." She turned her head slightly only to be turned back to face him. He let his lips fall over hers gently. When he pulled back and stared into her eyes he winked. His eyes were grieving and sad but they were full of love and when he winked her even though the world was against her for that split second none of it mattered. She smiled at him and touched his face, sighing as she prepared herself for another battle.

Chapter 133.

That next day everyone had left for Port Charles...each taking on just a little more than usual to help their friends out. Adela stayed though, she watched her son through the glass read to his girlfriend. She layed helpless and watched him, slowly dozing as she did so. BY the time he was done reading to her, he looked up from the book and she was asleep. He placed the book down on the night stand and stood. He leaned over and kissed her forehead. He just stared at her for awhile, mezmorized. Adela Knocked softly on the glass and Sonny turned. She motioned for him to step outside a moment.  He walked out of the room and looked at his mother.
S: "What?"
A: "She's sleeping Sonny..why don't you go back to the hotel and get some rest."
S: "I'm not leaving her alone."
A: "I'll stay with her...you can come back first thing in the morning...Sonny you've been 3 days straight..would it kill you to be home a few hours?"
S: "I don't want her to wake up and I'm not there...besides I could just sleep in the chair."
A: "Sure and I suppose you can shower and shave here too."
S: "I look that bad huh?" He touched the stuble of hair on his face. Adela turned her head to the side and looked at him.
A: "Never...you just don't look yourself..Mijo you have bags under your eyes."
He rubbed his eyes and looked at Brenda through the glass.
A: "She'd want you to get some rest too."
S: "I promised I wouldn't leave her."
A: "She'd understand...you could come back before she even awakes."
S: "You'll sit with her?"
A: "OF course."
He turned to his mother.
S:"Thanks for being here."
A: "Your not the only one who loves her."He nodded and looked at her a moment before hugging her.
S: "I wont be gone too long."
A: "She'll be fine."
He sighed and looked through the glass one more time.
S: "Aright I'll see you in the morning...maybe earlier."
Adela nodded and watched her son walk towards the elevator. She shook her head sadly and then walked into Brenda's room to sit with her.

The elevator doors opened and Sonny didn't realize it wasn't the lobby until he walked out.. He mumbled and sighed heavily as he walked around the floor looking for another set of elevators. He looked up at the directory and saw "Nursery/Maternity" and an arrow pointing straight ahead.
He bit the inside of his cheek and started in the direction of the arrow.

He stopped and closed his eyes a minute as he turned to his left and saw a wall of glass and behind it all the newborn babies. He stepped towards the glass and looked at the babies. Their little name tags on their cradles. His eyes became moistened. He turned his head and watched the nurse hand a woman her child as she sat in the rocking chair. Her husband behind her smiling down at the baby as they both cooed at the tiny bundle of joy. He covered his mouth as tears fell from the corners of his eyes.

Sonny removed his hand and wiped his eyes, but once they settled on an empty cradle he shut down. He stared at the cradle and shook his head wondering why? Why did their baby have to die...why couldn't that be him and Brenda? His questions towards why Fate had dealt him and Brenda the bad hand faded he imagined....He imagined that cradle full. The name tag was not empty anymore it Read Corinthos in big bold letters and inside lied a child. a baby they had created, one so full of life. With Dark curly hair and dimples. There he stood his arms wrapped around Brenda's waist as they stared at their baby in Awe. He closed his eyes and let the tears fall . When his eyes however did open again...there layed the empty cradle.

As a beaming man approached the window, Sonny quickly wiped his tears away and continued to stare. The man smile brightly as he made faces to one of the babies. He looked at Sonny perplexed.
M: "Which is yours?"
Sonny didn't look at the man he just kept staring at the babies.
S: "None.."
M: (Smile) "Oh a relative of yours had a baby?"
Sonny turned to the man.
S: "There is no baby." He swallowed. "Your a lucky man...at least you won't leave this place empty."
The mans face fell.
M: "I..I'm sorry."
Sonny shrugged.
S: "So they all say."

Beyond the door
Theres peace I'm sure
And I know they'll be no more
Tears in heaven

Sonny walked past the man, and the man turned around and watched him walk away. Sonny pressed the button to the elevator. AS he waited he shoved his hands in his pockets and looked down. The doors opened and he walked into the elevator when he turned around, his face was full of fallen tears. The elevator doors closed.

The following morning Adela was sitting next to Brenda reading a magazine. You could tell she was exhausted as she lived to her promise. She peered over the magazine when she felt eyes on her. She placed the magazine on her lap and gave Brenda a tired smile.
A: "Morning, sweetie."
Brenda rubbed her eyes as she yawned.
B: "Morning.." She tilted her head and her eyes widened. "Well now...how'd you pry Sonny out of that chair?"
Adela laughed lightly.
A: "I told him he was losing any sex appeal he had with that beard of his...and those circles under his eyes."
Brenda looked down and smiled slightly.
B: "Bags..and all he could never lose that."
A: "He should be back soon..he wanted to get back before you awoke."
Brenda looked up.
B: "Thanks Adela...I've been worrying about him and telling him to go home, he won't listen to me."
A: "He doesn't want to leave you."
B: "Could you do me a favor?"
A: "Of course.."
B: "Maybe you could talk to him...he won't talk to me, he doesn't want to upset me but I know he's hurt too."
Adela nodded and stopped her.
A: "Don't say another word...I will." She looked at Brenda seriously. "Brenda since I came back from El Salvador in December, I've watched my son and how he is with you. I've been meaning to tell you, Thank you...I couldn't have asked for anyone better for my son. He's very lucky to have you and I know he knows that."
B: "Well I'm just as lucky to have him." She sighed heavily and ran her fingers through her hair."God Only knows what I look like..."
Adela smiled.
A: "You look wonderful."
B: "Now Now...don't lie." She smiled. "Well if I'm gonna be stuck in this bed 24/7 I at least want to look like..well myself. You have a mirror?"
A: "Let's see.." She lifted her pocketbook  up and began to search. "Yes I do.." She handed her the compact and Brenda's eyes widened when she looked into.
B: "Oh dear Lord.." She tried to smoothe her hair down and tuck it behind her ears.
A: "Here, why don't you let me help you?" She stood and took a brush from her purse and began to glide it through Brenda's hair. She pulled some strands back and clipped it, tucking some behind her ears. Brenda looked at her as she played with her hair.
B: "You know before the accident, I was very upset. I had found out that my mother is alive. After all this time that I believed she was dead...she's not. Sonny doesn't believe her, but she had this photograph of me when I was 3.." Adela stopped fixing her hair and looked at Brenda. "Anyway...if she is alive I can only hope she's half the mother you are." Adela caressed Brenda's cheek.
A: "Oh buonita.."She kissed her head. "Thank you."
Brenda smiled.
B: "Your welcome..Hey you have some lipstick in that bag of yours?"
Adela smiled and nodded as she handed her the tube of lipstick. She watched her apply it as the door opened. Brenda looked over the compact and smiled as she closed it. Adela turned around and whistled.
A: "My my...who's that handsome fella."
Sonny leaned against the frame of the door. He had on black dress pants and light grey silk shirt. He carried 2 dozen roses in his hand and threw Brenda a smile.
S: "Sorry I wasn't here when you got up?"
B: "It was worth it.." She smiled. "You look good."
He squinted as he looked down at himself.
S: "Yeah?"
Adela grinned as she watched them.
B: "Yeah.."
He shrugged and walked over to her handing her the roses.
B: "Aww..thank you."
He leaned over her and looked her in the eyes as he whispered.
S: "How you feel?"
B: "Ok I guess.."
He nodded and she looked at him skeptical.
B: "How do YOU feel?"
S: "Inspired..."
She raised an eyebrow.
B: "How so?"
He was still whispering and Adela was just looking around the room trying not to overhear.
S: "I didn't sleep alot lastnight..."He said as he ran a finger down her cheek. "I did alot of thinking though...I left this hospital a wreck lastnight." He looked at her a moment. "I went to the nursey and I just was looking at all of those babie's  those parents beaming with such pride as they held them and I wished so hard that that was us...I told myself it wasn't fare that we went home with nothing. That I felt so empty. When I got back to the hotel I thought about the empty feeling in my gut and I couldn't imagine how empty you felt." He paused and wiped his hand down her face. "Don't cry.. You see I realized how hurt I was but then I thought about you and you've just went through so much...You lost a baby too, Your the one who broke her back and yeah it hurts me but I can't imagine how you feel. I tried...I tried to be strong for you but I'm not that brave...Your life pulled a complete 180 and here you are showing not an ounce of fear. If you could be brave enough to want to face this by yourself, then I want to be brave enough to show you that you don't have too." He laughed slightly. "Not making much sense am I?"
Brenda wiped her eyes.
B: 'No...you are."
S: "What I'm saying is...I'm not gonna let you face this alone, I'm not gonna be scared. I want to be your rock,I want to be your friend, I want you to take me on this journey and allow me to help you along the way but most of all." He stopped and reached inside of his pocket and pulled out a small box. He opened it and smiled down, he turned it to her and she gasped. Tears fell from her eyes that were wide with shock. He stared into her eyes. "But most of all...I want to be your husband."
Adela covered her mouth as she cried...While Brenda stared at him, his eyes shining with love for her.

Chapter 134.

Adela crossed her fingers and inched forward and watched her son. He tilted his head to the side and moved closer to her. He whispered.
S: "So what do you say? Will you be my wife?"
He stared at her. She looked into his eyes and saw the eyes of a grieving man, of a troubled man but she also a man who loved her, and he loved her with everythinging him. But now at this point the thing that shined the most the sincerity. She covered her mouth and tilted her head. She glanced at the ring. The 3 carat diamond was set with diamonds circling it, the band was all diamonds and there was two brackets of diamonds. A truly stunning ring.
B: "Sonny.." She dropped her hand and he raised his eyebrows.
S: "Your gonna make me sweat it out aren't you?" He threw her a nervous smile. She pouted her lower lip as she touched his face.
B: "I can't believe you went and did this.." She cried. "It means so much to me, that I know your for real..that your in this with me." She paused and she cupped his face. "I love you so much.." She closed her eyes. "But I can't accept this...not now."
Sonny looked down and laughed.
S: "Strike two.."HE shook his head and she stopped.
B: "Please don't hate me."
HE looked at her and was silent.
S: "I can't hate you."
B: "I want us to get married, you know I do." She closed her eyes briefly."You can't even begin to imagine how much I want to be your wife...but I can't now."
S: "I got that part." He whispered as Adela slipped out of the room shaking her head.
B: "It's just I can't think about a wedding now and when I marry you I don't want a cheesy one..it's also I don't want you to marry me like this..I want to be able to walk towards you on our wedding..and it may be just a silly dream but it's one I can't let go of right now." She let his face go. "I have to get used to who I am now...You promised to be there for me and that's enough.." She began to cry. "Please...I don't want you to hate me.. "
S: "SSSh...don't cry."He took a minute to gather his thoughts and Brenda stared at him.
B: "What're you thinking?"
S: "That I love you and if you don't want to get married now that's ok...either way I'll get you to be my wife.'" He winked and then let out a sigh. "I tell you what..I'll make a deal with you." He took the box that held the ring and snapped it shut. He looked at her as he referred to the box as he spoke. "I'm gonna ask you to marry again, you'll wear this ring...but you gotta hold up your end."
B: (Whispered) "Whats that?"
S: "Well besides the fact that you accept? You get well...you say you want to marry me? Well I will propose again you just have to get well....It doesn't matter if you walk again or not...When I say well I mean you being okay with yourself..But you are gonna walk again...you'll see."
She shook her head.
B: "Sonny.."
S: "Look if you say no to this...I think I'm gonna have to see a shrink--"
B: "You've got yourself a deal."
He put the ring in his pocket and held his hand out to her. She took it and he kissed it.
S: "Okay then.."
B: "Are you sure your not mad at me?"
He sighed and touched her cheek.
S: "I'm not mad.."
B: "For what it's worth, if none of this would've happened...I would've said yes.."
S: "Yeah well..you will one day." He leaned over and kissed her lips gently. "I'll see you in a little while.
B: "Where you going?"
He shook his head.
S: "I'll be back."
She just need as she bit her bottom lip and watched him walk out. She began to sob, she wiped her hands down her face.
B: "Oh God..."
Sonny closed the door and stood still for a moment. Adela rised to her feet and looked at her son.
A: "I'm sorry Michael."
He turned to his mother,
S: "Don't be..Because we're gonna get married...and she's gonna walk down that isle to me."
Adela tilted her head as she stared at him sympathetic.
S: "She will ma!''
He let out a breath and sat down.
S: "And I'm gonna make sure she does.."
Adela just watched him as he nodded to himself and then looked straight into space.

Louie was sittined at the bar of Lucky sevens doing the books. He had an adding machine and he was still having problems. The door opened and Jason walked in. Louie looked over his shoulder.
Lou: "Hey.."
Ja: "Hey yourself...what're you doing here?"
Lou: "These books...I don't know how he does it.."
Ja: "Tell me about it..I had a meeting with Benny and Francis, Benny was like "Mr Corinthos wouldn't say that... I wanted to strangle him."
Lou: "Yeah he's got pretty big shoes to fill."
Ja: "We're just gonna have to stick it out...we owe them at least that."
Louie nodded and let out a breath.
Lou: "Everything ok with the front?"
Ja: "Yeah benny's flying down to make sure Puerto Rico doesn't get hit."
Lou: "Good that was smart...they're thinking it's easy to move in on us now because he's not here."
Ja: "Yeah well they got another thing coming. Lisa all set for tomorrow?"
Lou: "I guess..I haven't really spoken to her."
Ja: "Oh?"
Lou: "Since we got back I've just been to busy."
Ja: "Tsk..Tsk...is that any way to start something with a woman?"
Lou: "She'll understand.."
Ja: "If your lucky.." Louie turned and looked at him as the door opened. The two guys turned to see Lisa. Jason smiled and whispered through clenched teeth.
Ja: "Don't fuck it up.."He cleared his throat. "Well I'm gonna be in the back...seeing what liquor needs to be...well you know." Jason hurried to the back.
Lou: "What're you doing here?" He said as he turned back to the books. Lisa blew out a breath and walked towards him.
LI: "Looking for you.." She began to rub his shoulders. "Your pretty hard to find these days."
Lou: "We all are just trying to help Sonny.."
Li: "I understand...still I miss you." She kissed the back of his neck and whispered in his ear. "Do you miss me?" She blew into his ear and he closed his eyes.
Lou: "Uh huh.."
Li: "You know.." She turned him around and stared at him. "You still owe me that date.."
He put his hands on her hips and pulled her closer.
Lou: "I know and I'll make it up to you...some other time."
Lisa raised an eyebrow.
Li: "Some other time?"
Louie nodded as she squirmed away.
Li: "Well don't bother." She turned and started for the door.
Lou: "Lisa.."
She turned.
Li: "Just tell me one thing...I was good enough to bail your sister out of a jam and good enough to sleep with but that's it right? Well Louie you should've said that before I got fucking attached!"
She stormed out of the club and Louie sighed rubbing his face tiredly.

Brenda was staring at her empty finger...she closed her eyes and shook her head. Something she waited for her whole life, something she dreamed about since she was alittle girl had happened. It was something that would make her eternally happy so why...why did she turn it away? It had taken him so long to finally be able to do it and she destroyed it, but she was feeling it. She was regretting the words she had said. AS she tried to force herself not to cry the phone rang. SHe let it ring a few times before answering it.
B: "(Weakly) "Hello?"
Ro: "Brenda...it's Robin."She was crying. "I'm so sorry.."
B: "Robin..."
Ro: "I'm sorry I didn't call earlier, I didn't know what to say...I heard on the news everything."
B: "I'm so glad you called...I really need a friend right now."
Ro: "I wish I could be there...tell me, how you holding up?"
B: "Well...you know.." She swallowed. "I'm still trying to figure out a reason as to why this had to happen...Why did I lose my baby...why can't I walk and I why I just said no."
Ro: "I don't know Bren...God works in mysterious ways."
After Stone died I'd ask myself questions like that...I don't think we'll ever know why we all suffer tragedy...It's just a way of life."
B: "Everything that meant the most is gone..."
RO: "Don't say that...you still have Sonny and you still have hope."
B: "Oh Robin..." She began to cry.. "I did something I think..actually I know I'm gonna regret."
Ro: "What happened?"
B: "You know Sonny...he's been really great through all this...you know he won't leave my side. I mean even the fact that I don't have our baby anymore or I can't walk...it won't chase him away."
Ro: "Why would it? Your still the woman he loves."
B: "HE lost a baby too...and I can't comfort him..I don't know how..and the one way I could've I threw away...I told him to leave..that I didn't need him that he didn't want to be with me...but he I do need him and he knew that and he stayed..God Robin I ruined everything.."
RO: "Brenda I don't get it.."
B: "He asked me to marry him...He said he didn't want me to go through this on his own and he was finally brave enough to ask me...but I.." SHe sobbed.."I told him I couldn't."
RO: "He proposed and you said no?"
B: "It happened to fast and I all I knew was that how could I marry him...how could I marry him like this? I was being selfish I guess..." She paused."I dreamed day and night about the day I would marry him...and I always walked towards him, even if I never do that...I have to learn to be ok with that right? I have to be confident and not let my insecurites get the best of me...don't I?"
Ro: "What'd he say?"
B: "He tried not to show me he was upset I guess...and he made a deal with me..That the next time he proposed I would say yes but he wouldn't propose until I was well again."
RO: "So maybe he proposed knowing you'd say no..and just did it to give you something to work towards.."
B: "No Robin...he meant it...you should've seen his eyes." She was silent and then whispered. "He's been so good to me..and I hurt him...I hurt him bad."
RO: "How did you guys leave off?"
B: "I asked him if he hated me and he said no but he had to go and he'd be back...and he hasn't...Robin what did I do?" She cried.
Ro: "Listen maybe it's better this way...Maybe this happened so you will force yourself to get better and maybe it'll make him--"
The door opened and Sonny walked in. His hands were in his pockets and he was looking down. When he lifted his head he looked at Brenda.
B: "Robin...I gotta go."
RO: "He there?"
B: "Yeah..Thanks for calling though.."
Ro: "Anytime...you get better you hear me? Don't give up."
B: "Yeah..don't give up. I'll see ya."
She hung up.
S: "Robin?"
B: "Yeah..." She looked down.
S: "How she doing?"
B: "Good I guess...Sonny."
He sat down.
S: "Let's not talk about it anymore ok?"
B: "I didn't mean to hurt you.." She said as she swallowed hard.
S: "I know..." He leaned forward and took her hand. "I was thinking maybe now wasn't the right time anyway...we got to much to deal with."
B: "Still it would've been nice to be married."
S: "We'll know how nice it is one day.."
B: "What happens now?"
S:" Well we concentrate on you getting better."
B: "What if that never happens?"
S: "Stop." He shook his head. "It will happen."
There was a silence.
S: "Hey the doctor said you may be able to bust out of here a little earlier if the incision heals like he expects."
B: "What happens when I leave here."
S: "You start your recovery."
B: "You mean I try to walk again?"
S: "Yeah.."
The nurse walked in wheeling a flower cart.
Nu: "I've never seen anything like it."
B: "What's all this?" Sonny turned.
Nu: "This is nothing.."
B: "Sonny.."
S: "Don't look at me." Adela walked in carrying a mail bag.
A: "It's amazing."
Two more nurses wheeled in carts.
Nu1: "Where would you like them"
S: "What is it ma?"
A: "These...flowers and letters...they're all from fans."
Sonny looked at Brenda.
B: "No...your kidding right?"
Nu2: "There's more on it's way."
Adela sat on the other side of Brenda and reached into the bag and pulled out a handful of envelopes..
A: "Look at all of this.."
Tears came to Brenda's eyes.
S: "Looks like theres alot of people out there rooting for you too."
Tears started to fall from her eyes as she watched the staff continue to fill her room with flowers, get well balloons, and stuffed animals.

Sonny opened a letter and read it as Brenda and Adela each read one.

When My mom told me I started to cry because I always dreamed of being a ballet dancer, and now I can't. When I heard about you I felt a strong bond towards you because I've been where you are and it can get ugly. But you have something I didn't have..You have a slim chance of walking again and I believe in you, So if you find a way to walk your finding hope that maybe one day even though I can't be a dancer I'll be able to choreograph others who can."
He looked at Brenda and handed her the letter. She looked down at it and then up at him.

It made her the happiest little girl to know she was gonna See Brenda Barrett..well she never got to see you. I know she'd be devestated to know you've been hurt, so on behalf of her I hope you make a full recovery so I can watch the person my daughter wanted to be strive to success."
B:"Oh my god..how sad.."

Brenda put the opened letters to the side and looked at Sonny who was still reading. She took his hand and he looked up.
S: "These letters are so personal.."
B: "I know.. Who would've thought I had so much impact on people..and they could have the same on me."
S: "Your a role model."
B: "Not yet.." She took a deep breath. "What exactly are my chances?"
S: "Doctor said you may walk again...if your work hard."
She looked at him a moment and then turned her head.
S: "He's seen it happen.."
B: "Walking isn't enough."
S: "It's a step."
She sighed..
B: "Just a step."

Louie closed the books and stood up. He walked around to the bar and pulled out a glass as the door opened.
Lou: "We're closed buddy."
"I don't care."
Louie looked up and rolled his eyes.
Lou: "Great it's you."Taggert laughed.
Tag: "Whats the matter your not happy to see me?"
Lou: "You come here for a reason."
Tag: "AS a matter of fact I did."
Lou: "Well get to it and then get out."
Tag: "I hear Corinthos is in a tragedy."
Lou:"What business is it of yours?"
Tag: "Well since he won't be running things for awhile my guess is you and the Quartermaine Morgan will be..."
Lou: "We all run this bar."
Tag: "You know damn right I don't mean the bar."
Louie raised an eyebrow.
Lou: "Now Taggert whatever do you mean?"
Tag: "If the boss is in a jam others begin to move in..I know the way this works..I also know that a street war can break out. I'll leave you with this...I'm onto you guys...you so much as jay walk and I'm cuffin you."
Lou: "That hard up for an arrest are you?"
He crossed his arms at his chest.
Tag: "Remember what I said. Everywhere you go..I'll be right behind you."
Lou: "You might wanna bring a good book...you know just in case you get bored of doing nothing..by the way...you do it so well."
Taggert laughed.
Tag: "I hope your this cocky when your behind bars." He turned and headed to the door.
Lou: "Nice seeing you..Detective. Next time you stop in...make sure we're open."
Taggert walked out and Louie just looked after him before pouring himself a drink.

Chapter 135.

The following night Brenda was looking through a magazine when her door opened and Nick peekd his head in. Brenda looked up and smiled slightly.
B: "Hey you.."
N: "Is there room for four guys in this jungle of flowers?"
She shrugged.
B: "I think you'll manage.."
He opened the door and the four of them walked in.
Drew: "How you feeling beautiful?"
B: "As good as it gets."
Jeff: "Well you look better."
B: "I'm just trying my best to get the hell out of here."
Justin: "When are they gonna release you?"
B: "The doctor told Sonny another two weeks..he doesn't think I'll have to stay the full month."
N: "Well thats good right?"
B: "Sure...but I'm so tired of this room."
Nick gave her half a grin.
Ni: "Noticed it's turned into the Botanical gardens."
She shook her head.
B: "All from the fans..."
Dr: "They love ya alot."
Je: "Of course they do.."
She smiled at them.
B: "Hey shouldn't you guys be wrapping up the tour?"
Ju: "Not exactly."
B: "They canceled it?"
N: "We uh..we pulled our contract with Lawrence."
B: "What? Why?"
Dr: "He came here when you were first brought in and he was lashing out on Sonny.."
Brenda turned to Nick.
N: "It wasn't pretty...and he was wrong."
B:"What was he saying.."
Je: "Don't worry about that..it's over with."
B: "Wow..how...You guys he's gonna sue you.."
N: "Well he's gonna sue you too."
B: "I dont care."
Dr: "Niether do we."
B: "I can't believe just because of me..you guys--"
Je: "We never liked him anyway."
B: "So what happens now?"
Dr: "We're trying to build a case on him..as for music..we're screwed."
Je: "No company's gonna want to back us with a law suit for breech of contract on our backs..they'll think we'll do the same to them."
B: "You can't just quit."
N: "We're not but there's really nothing we can do until after this is all settled."
Ju: "We're still gonna try to find someone to back us even if there not a popular record company...we're popular enough to make them soar."
B: "I'm sorry.."
N: "Don't be."
Ju: "What about you?...What's gonna happen to your music."
She shrugged.
N: "(Mimicking) You can't just quit."
B: "Nick..it's different..I can't even walk yet alone get on stage again."
Dr: "So your just gonna throw a years worth of success down the drain?"
B: "I don't know what I'm gonna do."
Ju: "Your too good to forget about...and your to strong to quit."
Brenda looked down as the door opened and Sonny held the door for a nurse wheeling in another cart of flowers.
They all turned and looked at them.
S: "Oh hey.."
Nick nodded towards him.
N: "Sonny.."
Nu: "Where should we put the others."
S: "There's no more room in here...she's gonna be eating them soon."
Drew laughed.
Dr: "Damn.."
B: "There's more?!"
S: "Another 2 carts.."
He sighed and shook his head.
Ju: "Your gonna have to do something."
S: "What exactly should I do? I told her if anymore come give them to other patients who don't have any.."
B: "Aww..that was sweet."
N: "They're just gonna keep sending unless you say something to the public.
S: "Me?"
Nick nodded.
N: ''Instead of them sending flowers, tell them to send them somewhere else or to make a donation in Brenda's name to a charity."
S: "Thats a good Idea.." He looked at Brenda. "Where would you want them to go?"
She was silent for a moment.
B: "Well if theire gonna send flowers..send them to the Childrens Hospital and any donations should go there too."
SHe looked up at Sonny and he just nodded then looked down.
S: "IF thats what you want."
B: "Yeah..It is."
He nodded.
S: "Ok.." He looked at Nick. "Would you help me?"
N: "Sure..what do you need."
S: "How do I make a press conference.."
Nick laughed.
N: "I'll set it up you just do the talking...only you want to be asked questions or just give a statement.
S: "No I just want to tell the public what to do with their generosity.."
N: "Consider it done."
Sonny nodded.
S:"Thank you."
Brenda looked between the two guys and smiled slightly.

That Night Lucky Sevens was packed as usual The gang put on their happy smiles and did what they did best. Jason was missing froma ction, fulfilling one Sonny's duties. Lisa was standing on the bar, with leather shorts on and a bra type shirt. Lois and Carly were swinging around poles pouring liquor on the crowd. Louie and Johnny were serving drinks. Lisa leaned over the crowd and began to sing.

He did so and she poured the liquor down his mouth. A familar face walked into the bar. She looked around wide-eyed at all the excitement. She just stood at the back for a moment watching the three girls on  the bar. Lisa jumped back on the bar and sat down crossing her legs as she layed her torso back against the bar. She looked at Louie.
Li: "Load me up."
He walked behind her and grabbed two bottles. He looked at the crowd and then down at her as he poured the liquor into her mouth.
Lou: "You still mad at me?" She gave him a look and then shot up and sang.

Louie shook his head and went back to pouring drinks. The familiar girl watched him intently and then took a deep breath as she made her way towards the bar. Louie didn't look up.

He looked down and laughed slightly.

SA: "Bourbon."
He nodded and poured the drink for her.
Sa: "I heard about Brenda..and I wanted to see how Sonny was."
Louie handed her the drink.
Lou: "Thats right...you chose Sonny before me.."
She tilted her head to the side.
Sa: "I don't think you want to go there."
Lou: "Sonny's not here...he's with Brenda and he won't leave."
Sa; "Could you blame him"
Lou: "Nope..but he's taking it hard..we're worried for the both of them."
Sa: "It's so sad."
Lou: "Yeah it is." He looked at her. "Why are you really here."
Sa: "I told you." She sipped her drink as he grilled her.

She grinned and pushed the glass to him for a refill.

She poured a row of shots for a customer. Sara laughed at Louie.

Lisa looked at Louie and Sara and moved a little closer to listen in on their conversation.

Lou: "Actually I think I have."
Sara raised an eyebrow and shrugged.
Lou: "Now I care.."
Lisa made her way between them
Li: "Excuse me...who are you?" She said as she looked at Sara. Sara tilted her head and motioned to Louie.
Sa: "Why don't you ask him?"
Lisa looked over her shoulder.
Lou: "I used to see her."
Li: "Used to as in past.." She glared at Sara.."So why are you hear now."
Sa: "I don't think thats any of your business." She looked at Louie."Yeah..I see how far you've come...where'd you meet her a Truckers pit stop?"
Lisa laughed and then looked at the glass next to Sara. She looked at the customer.
Li: "Can I just borrow this a minute?" She took the glass and placed it infront of Sara. She knocked it over and Sara pulled back.
Li:"Ooh...So sorry." She grinned.
Sa: "You bitch.."
Li: (sighed) "So they say.."
She tilted her head and then turned around, Glaring at Louie as she walked past him. Louie handed Sara a towel.
Lou: "Sorry about that.."
She shook her head.
Sa: "oh I don't miss this at all.." She grabbed her purse. "Tell Sonny I hope everything turns out ok.." She turned and headed out.."
LoU: "Yeah don't worry...Drinks on the house.." She didn't turn, he watched her just walk out.

Brenda's eyes were shut when Sonny walked in later on. He looked at her as he sat down in the chair. She turned her head and slowly opened her eyes.
B: "How'd it go?"
S: "Good...I said what I had to say and that was it."
She nodded.
B: "Think they'll still send stuff, I mean to the Childrens hospital."
S: "I don't see why not, if they planned to send them here."
B: "I hope so."
S: "Bren?...why'd you pick that?"
B: (Quietly) "Whatever donations are made they can help save lives of babies and children..something I wish could've been done for our baby..even though she was too young and not born yet." She looked up."You know what I mean?"
He nodded and then whispered.
S: "Yeah.." He leaned over and kissed her softly. "I'll let you go to sleep."
B: "I rather not.."
He looked at her.
B: "I know you had a fight with Lawrence.."
Sonny sighed heavily.
S: "Brenda I'm sorry but I couldn't help it."
B: "It's ok...I don't care...I'm just sorry he hurt you."
S: "HE didn't hurt me...he just said too much shit."
B: "I don't want to know what he said...I have an idea though...you do know none of thats true..What he said? It's not so."
Sonny looked at her and took her hand.

Lisa and Lois were putting away the bottles of liquor after they had closed while Carly wiped down the bar.
Lois looked at Lisa.
Lo: "Whats with you?"
Lisa turned to Lois.
Lo: "Who's Sara.."
Lois looked at Lisa a moment..
Lo: "Sara?...Oh..she was someone Louie used to go out with."
Ca: "What ever happened to her?"
Li: "Nothing to severe...she was here tonight."

Li: "Well she was all up in his business.."
Ca: "I wouldn't worry about it if I were you...Louie left her dry.."
Lo: "I'm surprised she came around after so long.."
Lisa looked at the two girls.. and then Ned walked in.
N: "Hey sweetheart...You ready to get out of here.."
Lois looked at the girls.
Lo: "You think you guys could finish up?"
Ca; "Don't worry about it...go."
Lois grinned.
Lo: "Thanks Blondie."
She hurried towards Ned,kissing his lips lightly as she laced her arm through his and they walked out.

Louie took a seat in the back office.
Lou: "Alright Jase...what's the big news.."
Ja:" You remember Johnny Boombotz?"
Lou: "Worked for Scully?"
Ja: "Yeah well I got a call from him..Joe wants to see you tomorrow."
Lou: "At the jail? What for?"
Ja: "He knows what happened to Brenda and how Sonny's gonna be out of the loop for awhile...he also knows your taking charge."
Lou: "Thats what this is about?"
Ja: "He knows Sonny knows how to run things not you...and now with people trying to slip in when Sonny's down, he wants to make sure you got it covered I guess...Whatever it is it's urgent."
Louie looked at Jason a minute and then leaned forward.
Lou: "So we go tomorrow."
Ja: "I'll drive you but he only wants to see you."
Louie nodded.
Lou: "Fine."
Ja: "I think he's got wind of something.."
Lou: "Well we'll find out soon enough, now won't we?"
He leaned back against the chair and sighed.

Ned looked over at Lois as he drove, she was staring at her engagement ring.
N: "Something wrong?"
Lo: "I guess you can say that.."
N: "What is it?"
Lo: "Everytime we plan to get married..something happens...First Stone died and now this happened to Brenda...I'm just starting to think maybe we're not destined to have a big wedding with everyone there...I mean if we keep planning our wedding and things keep happening to the people who are suppose to be there...we'll never get married."
N: "What're you saying.."
Lo: "Maybe..if we both want to get married so bad...maybe we should just..just elope."
She looked at him as he stopped at a light. He stared at her his eyebrows raised.
N: "Elope?"
Lo: "Yeah.."
N: "Is that what you really want."
Lo: "What I really want is to marry you..What're you thinking."
N: "That maybe your right."
Lo: "You wouldn't mind?"
N: "Not as long as we're married.."
Lo: "So then it's settled, we'll go to Vegas by the end of the week we'll be married."
Ned grinned.
N: "Sounds like a plan."
