Raja Mahmud Raja Mohammad’s ambition was to be a lawyer when he was a much younger man.
However, he could not pursue his dream then because he had his four children to bring up.
It was onlyafter retiring from his work in 1991 that the 64-year-old grandfather could finally realize his dream.
Yesterday, “Pak Engku”, as he is better known, became Universiti Teknologi MARA’s (UiTM) oldest graduate at its 52nd convocation.

3b QUICK ACTION BY MPSJ STAFF PRAISED
Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) workers visited the USJ 20 housing area last week to sprayinsecticide on trees attacked by caterpillars.
The infected trees were dying and the council’s quick action probably saved the trees.
A resident, Karam Singh , said he called the council after seeing worms on the tree in front of his home.
A council worker said it was the first time that his unit had attended to such a problem.
He added that the attack was due to the rainy season.

Residents of Jalan 9/14 in Bandar Sunway are angry because their road has been turned into “parking lots”.
A resident, Sarjit Kaur, said motorists from Sunway’s commercial area had been parking their vehicles along the road.
She said the problem started after the Menara Sunway office blocks were opened.
She added that motorists parked their vehicles on either side of the roads and sometimes right in front of her gate.
She said apart from Jalan 9/14 being narrow as a result of double parking, the road was also used by motorists as a short cut to enter and exit the Damansara Puchong Highway.
