ABOUT THIS SITE All the HTML files which comprise this edition of TIME LORD: The Doctor Who Role-Playing Game are direct conversions of the ASCII files which were made available by Ian Marsh exclusively to the Who-RPG home page at The Who-RPG Home Page and Mailing List. In 1991 Virgin Publishing produced TIME LORD. Coming in on the tail end of a role-playing game glut and badly marketed, the book did not sell well. Perhaps the biggest reason the book did not sell is that it was not marketed as a role-playing game, but as a Doctor Who resource. This seems to be a rare instance where Virgin did not understand the audience the book was meant for. Because of the low sales of the book, TIME LORD subsequently went out of print, and after negotiations with Virgin, the rights to the book reverted to the authors. When the rights were returned to the authors Ian Marsh, co-author of TIME LORD had forseen offering the game in an HTML version. For various reasons, that project was cancelled. However, though the project had been discontinued, the idea had merit. However, ideas don't create web sites. It wasn't until the FASA role-playing game Earthdawn (now owned by Whiz Kids) was presented in HTML on a CD-ROM included with a gaming magazine that the idea became reality. Though many amateur game writers provided their rules using HTML, this was the first time (unless mistaken) a commercially released game was released in the format. That was in 2001. Fast forward to 2003. Realizing that the 40th anniversary of Doctor Who was at hand, and simply because a change really was needed, the entire site received a facelift. The end result is as you see here, a much cleaner, far less cluttered look. A look that should be far more readable than the old one.
