When TIME LORD was produced by Virgin Publishing, three sheets were included in the book:

• Characters

• Villains

• Aliens

These sheets were perfectly functional, but were not included in the various versions of TIME LORD released on the Internet except for a rough version of the Character Sheet.  This was a gap that had to be filled.  When the early editions of the TIME LORD Companion: Express Edition were released, new character sheets based off the originals were released in a format that many people questioned the reasoning behind: bitmap.  The reason for this was that it allowed someone to create a professional looking character sheet with a minimum of effort and without needing special software to do the job.  However, a negative effect of this format was size.  The bitmap images were large, but it was seen as a small price to pay for what was thought to be convenience.

However, when the third edition of the TIME LORD Companion was released, in thinking long and hard on the idea, the conclusion was reached that those who had questioned releasing the first sheets in the original format were in fact right.  So at the same time the TIME LORD Companion was released, the old bitmap versions of the character sheets were removed from the site and PDF images substituted in their place.  As PDF is a format that preserves the look and feel of the original document, it was the perfect choice for a high quality character sheet that printed on a page at the original size of the printed book.  Below are thumbnail sized versions of each character sheet, showing the general layout of each (with minimal changes depending on the sheet).
