Season 2: Part 1

"My name is Tsukino Usagi, 14 years old... I'm a little clumsy and a bit of a crybaby..."

Usagi Tsukino and her friends are given back their lives in Tokyo after the battle with Beryl, but have lost all memories of their past lives on the Moon Kingdom and their lives as senshi and friends.

A strange ball of light falls from the sky and crashes into downtown Tokyo, leaving a huge crater. It is the arrival of Ali and En (alien, get it?), two beings who have come to Earth to seek energy to feed their Doom Tree. The Doom Tree needs energy to support the two creatures.

Ali and En send out Cardians, monsters created from tarot-like looking cards to drain the energy of humans to feed to their Doom Tree. When Naru is attacked, Luna realizes Usagi's new and peaceful life must end and she must return as Sailor Moon.

Luna gives Usagi back all her memories, and she is sad at the thought of losing her peace, but resolves to fight against her new enemy. Realizing Sailor Moon cannot handle this alone, Luna revives the other four senshi to their former selves.

Meanwhile at school, two new students transfer in, Seijuro and Natsumi (Ali and En's "human" names). Ali instantly falls in love with Usagi and, while walking home from school, En falls in love with Mamoru. Usagi and En begin a competition to win Mamoru's love, since he doesn't remember his past with Usagi.

While the senshi are fighting Ali and En's cardians, a strange man dressed all in white arabian garb and throwing a white rose appears to help them. Usagi believes it is Mamoru back to join them, but becomes confused when she is trapped with Mamoru in an arcade and the Moonlight Knight appears beside him.

Usagi is alarmed when in battle her tiara fails to work and her transformation brooch is destroyed by a cardian. However, Queen Selenity appears and presents her with a new brooch that holds the Ginzuishou inside and a Moon Scepter to help fight her enemies since her Moon Wand was lost in the battle against Beryl.

When Ali and En fail to show up for school, Usagi and Mamoru go by their apartment to make sure they're ok. Ali and En turn against them and feed them both to their Doom Tree. In their jealousy over Usagi and Mamoru they fight with each other and try to destroy the other's crush. Usagi begs Mamoru to remember his past and her love and stands in front of him to protect him from Ali's blasts. Then En attacks Usagi and Mamoru jumps in front of her to block it.

The Doom Tree becomes angry at all the fighting, jealousy and hatred and kills En. It tells the story of how its life began and reveals to Ali that it must be fed with love and not energy. The Doom Tree asks Sailor Moon to heal it, it revives En and becomes a new sprout. The two aliens, now knowing the true meaning of love, go off to seek a new planet to raise the Doom Tree.

The Moonlight Knight appears and reveals that he actually is Mamoru, or a part of him anyway. Mamoru has lost his memories, but his will to protect Sailor Moon, his princess, lived on as the Moonlight Knight. The spirit combined with Mamoru's fallen body and he awoke with his memories restored.
