Finding Help

Ok, so you've realised you have a probelm and have mustered up the strength and courage to seek help. Or perhaps you're in a crisis situation and need to talk to someone right away. The following are links that should help you find someone to help you help yourself - make sense?

   Suicide and Crisis Support from Befrienders International - Working to prevent suicide worldwide with 31,000 volunteers in over 40 countries. You can find a crisis support line near you or get support via e mail.

   The Samaritans - get help in the UK by phone, e mail or face-to-face.

   National Hopeline Network - if you live in America, Canada, England or Singapore you can enter your zipcode or area code to find crisis support lines & health centers near you.

   Suicide Hotlines - helpline numbers for every US state & other countries. You don't have to be suicidal to call - if you are having an emotional or family crisis then pick up the phone.

   The Samaritans of Australia - providing emotional support to anyone feeling despairing or suicidal. Emergency lines for Perth & Albany.

   UK resources - great list of UK self harm resources.

   Offline resources - Secret Shame site resource list for several countries.

   UK Therapists - directory of UK based therapists & counsellors.

   SIARI: Counselling & Therapy Links - extensive collection of UK & international links to help you find professional help.

   Wounded Wings - a self-help group for Self-harmers, based in Edinburgh.
