1) Outlander

At the end of WWII, Claire Randall a combat nurse and her scholar husband Frank decide to have a second honeymoon in the Highlands of Scotland. While exploring the mysterious standing stones Claire is thrown back in time to Scotland 1743 where she becomes and Outlander. Considered to be a n English and/or French spy by opposing forces and a witch in the community, the only way to assure her safety is to marry Jamie Fraser who is himself a fugitive. But Jamie's life was far from being that of a meer fugitive, but rather a one filled with family deceit and honour. During her travels Claire encounters another time traveller from the future as well as the ever pursuant "Black Jack Randall". Claire is forced to use her skills as a modern nurse (as well as hints of the future) to fight for her Scotland and for her life.

2) Dragonfly in Amber

Leaping from the present to the past, Claire tells Roger and Brianna of her journey in the 18th century. After being forced to leave Scotland, Claire and Jamie find themselves in the court of Louis King of France where they encounter Alex Randall (brother of Jack), Master Raymond (another time traveller) as well as the infamous Bonnie Prince Charlie. Claire is washed into the events leading to the battle of Culloden where she is sent away by Jamie to return to the future. While Jamie was to stay and die in battle. Flashing to the future Claire has asked Roger to research the residents of Lallybroch. This project leads to the discovery of the printer A. Malcolm (who is believed to be Jamie). After learning this Claire makes the decision to return to Jamie and leave their 20 year old daughter behind.

3) Voyager

After twenty years of separation from the presumed dead Jamie, Claire once again crosses time and space to rejoin him. On her return to Scotland Claire causes quite an uproar, discovering Jamie as a printer as well as a smuggler (Some things never change!) only to find that Jamie has married the spiteful Laoghaire (Don't worry it's annulled). This time Claire journeys to Jamaica in search of her nephew Ian who has been kidnapped by [the supposed to be dead] Geillie. After the final conflict with her enemy Claire rises as the victor only to be shipwrecked on a foreign land- later known as the State of Georgia!

4) Drums of Autumn

Finally a story about the next generation of time travellers. This time the story centres on Brianna and Roger. After Claire's departure for the past Brianna is enthralled and sad with the loss of her mother, she decides to take up a project and find her mother in the past only to find that her parents die in a fire. Unwilling to let this happen Brianna leaves to find her parents. Arriving in Lallybroch she is surprised to finally find family. She later travels to America where Roger eventually reaches her. On her final journey to Fraser's Ridge Brianna is raped when Roger finally rejoins her he is taken by Jamie and Fergus to be the rapist and sold to the Indians. (Boy are Jamie and Fergus in trouble with Claire and Brianna!) Only, to rescue Roger they have to leave one someone behind - Ian (who actually ends up living happily ever after). The others however still have a long journey ahead of them...
