Halloween 2000
Ken gets a little crazy with the pumpkins
|
I go really crazy about making great jack-o-lanterns. Last year I made some great Star Wars ones but this year I really went all out. Unfortunately, this particular art form has an exhibition time of about 3 days before it shrivels beyond recognition.

| How to make world-class pumpkin art |

First, a stencil must be made or found. Transfer the outline by using a push-pin and marker to trace the figure. |

I recommend using a coping saw blade with vice-grips to do the fine cutting. If you bend the blade too much it will break. Power tools such as a saber saw can speed up the work but must be used carefully to avoid disfiguring accidents. It takes about 2 hours by hand, but only one hour with a power saw if you don't undercut to let more light out. It's time-consuming, painstaking work but the results are spectacular when the candle is finally lit, giving you about 72 hours of fame and adoration. |

Bethel Family Fall Frenzy
|
|||
| I didn't take very many pictures, largely due to the fact that there were literally thousands of kids in costumes packing the building. World-class illusionist Adrian Van Vactor also put on a stunning magic show which included a no-tricks-here-folks gospel presentation. |

My trick-or-treating loot! No, seriously now, this is just part of the candy stockpile for the Bethel Family Fall Frenzy. | |
|
I insisted that I be properly dressed for going to a Halloween party. Unfortunately, my options were very limited but I was rescued by a friend with some army gear. In the end, I enjoyed being General Patton for an evening. |
