Labor Day Camping
September 2 - 4

Candi has written a paper for her English class about her experiences on the trip. Read Candi's paper to find out more about what we did.

Job 37:3-7 He unleashes his lightning beneath the whole heaven and sends it to the ends of the earth. After that comes the sound of his roar; he thunders with his majestic voice. When his voice resounds, he holds nothing back. God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.' So that all men he has made may know his work, he stops every man from his labor.

We all posed before climbing Mount Rainier from the trails at Paradise Group before hiking at Rainier Group posing on trail We stopped for a break about 3/4 of the way up and took some photos
It rained on the way up before turning to snow, but we were prepared with ponchos Group on the trail at Rainier Crossing the snowfields at Rainier We watched mountain climbers climb where we were soon to go ourselves
We walked upon the clouds and were near to God... Group in the clouds on Rainier Group on rock ridge on top at Rainier ... And we "explored" around the snowfields (just for the fun of it, of course)
The marmots were out and about and whistled at us Marmot View from high on Rainier This was about the best view we got due to the heavy cloud cover
Nisqually Glacier Glacier on Rainier Clouds silhouette Never trust the mountain weather
There were lots of wildflowers in bloom Wildflowers at Rainier Wildflowers at Rainier Wildflowers at Rainier
Mice on a stick? 'Tina Turner' wildflowers at Rainier Forest majesty in leaves God's beauty was all around us in big and small ways
We had Sunday devotions at the Grove of the Patriarchs at the foot of two big trees Group posing at the Grove of the Patriarchs Group posing as trees at the Grove of the Patriarchs Group peering down at the Grove of the Patriarchs
It's been 20 years since Mt. St. Helens blew Mt. St. Helens devastation Bare tree at Mt. St. Helens We didn't get any good views of Mt. St. Helens because it was still cloudy
The forest is recovering at Mt. St. Helens Mt. St. Helens recovery Spirit Lake at Mt. St. Helens Spirit Lake at Mt. St. Helens
Hiking 1 1/4 miles through Ape Cave was a unique experience for everyone Group on a ledge at Ape Cave Group getting squeezed at Ape Cave Ape Cave was a lot like a subway tunnel in most places but sometimes it was a little tight

You can also look at the "First Camping" gallery for more Mt. Rainier pictures
