Benson 87, Madison 60, MARSHALL 37 After a strong start, Madison managed to keep the within striking range of Benson, but simply could not match up with Benson's fire-power down the stretch as the state-title contenders pulled away for the win. But with their defeat of Marshall, the Senators kept their official record even at 3-3, and unofficially at 5-3. Strong performers included Charles Harold in the hurdles, Van Indra in the mid-distances, Andrew Haslam and Nick Sorensen in the sprints, and the 4 X 400 team who took almost 5 seconds off their PR. |

Benson 84, Madison 70, MARSHALL 27 The girls had a very strong showing against the defending state champs, but like the boys they just didn't have enough to combat Benson's stars. Top performers were Erica Brauer who had PR's in both the triple jump and 1500, Jessica Hale had a strong showing, along with Ruby Buckley and Catrice Tidwell in the sprints, and Katie Koping and Julie Wing in the throws (Katie had two PR's, and Julie had a PR in all three of her events). The girls' record is now 3-3 officially and 5-3 overall. |
