NuPath Technologies Limited supports managed care organizations and medical providers by revolutionizing the way workers' compensation options are managed. Through proprietary treatment protocols, software, and physical assessment and rehabilitation equipment, NuPath helps its clients control costs while preserving choice and quality in workers compensation coverage.

Currently, NuPath focuses primarily on workers in Ohio. Ohio's Bureau of Workers Compensation requires that Managed Care Organizations in Ohio use outcome-based treatment protocols with a standard return-to-work objective.

The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation has recently chosen new performance standards, Degree of Disability Management (DoDM), for managing injured worker cases. DoDM has been adopted by the Bureau to measure the effectiveness of the 37 Managed Care Organizations in Ohio. DoDM is a tool used for reporting return-to-work success for claims, and it's the first real outcome measure in workers' compensation. NuPath products and services provide the tools to implement DoDM, and DoDM guidelines are embedded in NuPath's internet-based software solution.

For each type of injury, the NuPath software compares the 1997 Ohio return-to-work data, the national return-to-work database, and the projected return-to work date of the current case. Managed Care Organization nurses manage their injured worker case load using the Nupath software solution. The nurse is the primary worker contact and, as such, the nurse sends the worker for diagnosis, treatment, and therapy; sends the treatment protocols to physicians; and sends the worker for return-to-work assessment tests. For each case in which the worker safely returns to the job in fewer days than Ohio's standard return-to-work objective, the Managed Care Organization that administered the case receives incentive pay.

Although NuPath was founded in 1999, its financial projections already reflect revenues of $10 million for 2001 and $20 million for 2002. NuPath receives revenues from the placement of injured workers' cases on their software and from a portion of the testing fees associated with readiness to return to work.
