Rune Magic

 »  Runes are Magic

If a rune can predict what lies ahead in the Web of Life, it might be possible to bring about a desired effect by deliberately creating a group of runes in a particular order: a rune-script. Usually three of five runes are written out to draw and hold on to love, or peace, or success, or wealth, either for the writer or for the person for whom he is performing this magic. Because of the power within runes, and the ease of making a serious mistake, perhaps by putting the runes in the wrong order, rune-scripts should only be attempted by those who are used to casting runes.

Bind-runes are a similar idea, but here the runes (usually only two or three) are superimposed on each other. Bind-runes can make attractive pieces of jewellery and can be worn as charms or talismans to ward off danger, for example, or to encourage a peaceful atmosphere, or protect the wearer against ill health. There is no question of magically binding a person (this would be dark magic and an extremely dangerous practice which should be completely avoided); the runes are bound to each other.

To make a bind-rune, or buy one from an esoteric shop, it is important to know which runes are within its design, and how they react together. It is a mistake to wear any esoteric jewellery or talismans without knowing exactly where they come from symbolically - and, preferably, physically. If it is not home-made, it should be made specifically for the wearer by someone well trusted. The intent which goes into its making is at least as powerful as the symbolism in its design.
