Chapter 37
~
Dee ~
-
So Dasha are you
interested in doing this?, my dad asked me after my parents and Bek’s parents
went over the contract together.
-
I would like to
see what happens., I admitted.
-
Yeah Mr. Dee! We
have a chance not many are given. We gotta try. Besides the money’s good., Bek
added.
-
Not from the
beginning. What about studies?, my mum asked.
-
Well in a few
months… Buffy and Kaz graduate and we have a year to go. So it ain’t all
that bad. I mean maybe for a few months get a tutor… but it won’t be much
major work until we get better at things., I said shrugging.
-
We don’t even
know if they want us for an album., Bek said.
-
How do you know
you will make it?, Dad asked as I sat thinking for a few seconds with him
looking at me.
-
You don’t
think we can do it? The dance! Come watch us perform., I said looking at him.
-
That’s in two
weeks. Angela will be recovering., Dad said.
-
Two weeks!, I
said standing up.
-
Dee! Two weeks!
We can’t do it!, Bek said to me as we entered my room.
-
No such thing as
can’t., I said picking up my phone.
-
Who you
calling?, Bek asked.
-
Karlie?
Look can you get over
here?, I said into the phone.
-
What’s going
on?, she asked.
-
Band meeting!, I
said before hanging up.
*
A Few Minutes Later *
-
So what’s
going on? Hey Tilky! Clay!, Karlie asked when she got over.
-
Hey!, Clay said
while Tilky waved.
-
Two weeks., I
said looking at her.
-
Until?, she
asked.
-
Our first
performance., Bek finished.
-
Oh is that all?!
Why?, Karlie asked sarcastically.
-
To prove we got
what it takes., I said looking at her.
-
Look… I’m up
for it. Let’s go and all that. But you got to remember that Buffy will only be
out of hospital in a week., Karlie said.
-
She would be for
this with me. Why not you two?, I asked looking at Bek and Karlie.
-
It’s not that
we don’t want to do this. It’s more what happens if Buffy gets worse because
of us?, she explained.
-
We’ll go on
with out her., I said.
-
That’s like
going on a flight without the pilot., she said while looking at me.
-
Think this
through Dee., Bek added.
-
Nope! Gotta be
done! You’re either with me or you’re not., I said sternly.
-
Dee now are you
sure what your doing is right?, Clay asked me when the others left.
-
I hope so. But
it feels right., I said looking at him.
-
Talk to Buffy.
You can’t force the others to go through with this. If Buffy’s cool then
they gotta be., he said while taking my hands in his.
-
I feel… I feel
like I am the only one who is up for this., I sighed.
-
Don’t stress!
You my little goldilocks are as stubborn as Buffy on a bad day., Clay laughed.
-
And you just
know what to say!, I laughed before kissing him.
Later that evening, I decided to pay a little visit to Buffy
in the hospital again. Because I really need to know if she’s up for the
concert in 2 weeks. But somehow, Karlie’s right about her health and after
all, Buffy did manage to get the contract done.
-
Buffy? You’re
tired?, I asked knocking on the door to her hospital room.
-
Only tired of
not being able to get out of the bed., she muttered as a nurse tucked her bed
around her tight.
-
She’s back to
normal!, I laughed.
-
Notice something
different?, she asked.
-
Karlie’s not
in here? No you got normal clothes on., I asked laughing.
-
You got the one
answer right twice!, Buffy laughed.
-
Buff, there is
something I want to ask you., I said looking at her.
-
Let me guess the
others ain’t up for it?, she said while smiling.
-
Yeah… Next
week the dance and I was thinking…
-
I’ll do it.,
Buffy said smiling.
-
You’ll play?,
I asked.
-
Sure! I wanna
perform! I have be waiting for you guys to think of it for ages!, she laughed.
