Chapter 40

* The Next Day *

-          Hey Buffy…, Ryan said as he walked into Buffy’s room.

-          Where’s Karlie?, she asked hoping her best friend would come in.

-          Karlie… Um Buffy… I…, Ryan tried to say.

-          What? Ryan What?, she asked knowing it was something bad.

-          Karlie died last night…, he finally said with tears in his eyes.

-          NO! You’re lying Ryan! This is not funny! TELL ME YOU’RE LYING!, Buffy said putting her hand to her mouth.

-          That’s why no one else has come in. I asked if I could tell you., he said as he reached to hold Buffy’s hand.

-          NO! Don’t touch me!, Buffy said almost screaming as she took hand out of Ryan’s.

-          It wasn’t your fault…, he said as he stood up to be closer to her.

-          KARLIE! WHY!?!, Buffy cried.

-          It was her time., Ryan said hugging Buffy who was crying uncontrollably.

* At Bekah’s Place *

-          She’s gone…, Bek said with red eyes.

-          There’s nothing we can do., Tilky said while hugging her.

-          She was one of my best friends., she added while wiping her eyes.

-          Karlie was like… my sister. I would do anything for her., he admitted.

-          I don’t know what to do., she said crying again.

-          Her funeral is in four days and I think there is something we can do…

-          What?, Bek asked looking up at Tilky.

* A Few Moments Later *

-          Mr. Waterson?, Dee said when he answered the door.

-          Dee… Bek… what can I do for you?, he asked quietly.

-          I’m so sorry., Bek said hugging him.

-          There is nothing that can be done now. I just wish it didn’t happen., he admitted.

-          We were wondering. This is something we thought we may ask from you. Tilky thought of it… but at Karlie’s funeral would it be possible?, Dee asked.

* Four Days Later *

Standing at the very front of the church the now best friends watched as Karlie’s Dad stood up and talked to the crowd about Karlie.

-          Karlie was one in a million. She had this presence that you would look towards her when ever she came past, Whether it was good or bad always depended on how you reacted., Mr. Waterson started with a little laugh before he continued.

-          She came to me one day with a letter from school. And it was a note saying that Karlie and another student, Angela or Buffy like they called her, were picking fights with the bigger boys and have both gained a weeks worth of lunch time detentions. Karlie was always someone who grabbed the bull by the horn. She did what she did and she did it well. Mouse I love you and you’re finally with Mummy.

Buffy stood up with Bek and Dee and walked to where Mr Waterson was and hugged him.

-          You girls were the Karlie’s life. No matter what you do… she will be proud., he said before sitting down.

The three friends stood up at the microphone and looked out at the hundreds of people who had come for Karlie’s funeral.

-          Kaz… girl… this is for you…, Buffy said trying to hold back her tears.

-          Silent emotions swept away; Memories of the past remembered today. We laughed so hard and we almost cried. Our hearts said hello but our minds said goodbye., Bek read from a piece of paper while wiping her eyes.

-          The pain that caused; The tears that cried will seldom not weep and seldom not hide. The smile that shone and the memories that appear. We ask you all that you please keep them near., Dee added with sadness in her voice.

-          Most of all this angel of mine; I know she is there though out my time and to hold my hand., Buffy said trying not to cry as she continues.

-          And give me strength to live right though until the end. My sister, best friend, and loved one above, please guide me through, both day and night…

* By The End Of The Funeral *

-          Please Buffy… Come with me and Ryan., Mr. Waterson said after he walked out of the church.

-          Okay Mr. Waterson., she said hugging him before turning around.

-          Oh my god!, she said as she soon as Karlie’s dad had showed her.

-          It’s what Karlie would have wanted., he said handing her the keys to the Corvette Karlie had finally finished rebuilding.

-          Jugrenaught., Buffy said with tears in her eyes and a smile on her face.

* At The Graveyard *

-          Bye Karlie and I miss you sis…, Buffy said watching as they lowered her body into the ground.

-          Bye Babe and you know that I’ll love you…, Ryan said who had his arm around Buffy with Steve next to her.

-          Rest In Peace and God bless you for everything…, Steve added with his head down.

-          My special sis…, Tilky said waving.

-          Kaz… know that we love you…, Bek and Dee said at the same time.
