* 19 months playing a promiscuous North Country grocer in a London West End hit at The Garrick called Funny Peculiar. His work on this production achieved nomainations for "Actor of the Year in a New Play", "Comedy Performance of the Year", "Play of the Year" and "Comedy of the Year" at the Laurence Olivier Awards in 1976.
* Expertly singing and dancing his way through the starring role in the London production of the Broadway musical I Love My Wife.
* Unfortunately Richard never fulfilled his ambition to perform at the National Theatre.
