"M" Is Also For "Mayfly"

Ten thousand days and nights I'd lived before
And yet it seemed I'd never lived at all
Until you came, like nothing else before,
As if to answer some unspoken call.

I loved you more than I had dreamed could be:
It seemed that you had love for me as well
Until you turned, and cruelly savaged me.
From rapture's warmth, I plunged to coldest Hel.

The meal we ate upon a starlit beach;
Our loving in a sunny summer field;
The children by the fire, dancing, each
Now wound my heart, and I may never heal.

Your words and will say we must ever part,
But know from me this truth: you broke my heart.
