Inventive Sequence Dance Competitions are held throughout the year at many venues by many different organisations.

It is here that a panel of judges choose which, in their opinion, is the best new Sequence Dance in that section, the 3 sections being - Modern - Latin American - Classical (formerly known as Old Time)

The  dances are choreographed by qualified teachers, who have to submit a script of their dance.  The script explains each step and arm movement in great detail.  The script also has to show the timing,  which direction you move and other details which, to the uninitiated, looks like a foreign language.

These competions can often be attended by the public and can be an enjoyable experience as they incorporate general dancing and sometimes are over several days so you can have a nice break
.............................................we all like to think we can pick the winner don't we?
Some dancers feel that too many new dances are being invented (45/50 each year) and it does not give them time to be learnt, or remembered.

There are those that feel some of the dances are only danced a couple of times before a newer one takes its place.

The Imperial Society have already taken the decision to reduce their new dances from
3 to 2 each year.  Do you think others should follow suit
