So here is another chapter for your enjoyment I hope you like it.  In this chapter, I’ll be tying up some loose ends and hopefully the true jest of this fic will be established.  There will be some references to the book of Revelations in this fic.  It’s not blasphemy or anything so read on.

Chapter Five: Damnation

Usagi sat in a hospital room beside her sleeping husband.  She held his hand, which seemed cold to her touch and looked at the man she loved with all of her heart.  Her Mamo-chan,her heart.  She touched his cheek lightly as if he were a piece of glass, easily broken at the slightest touch.  It had been only an hour since the hospital contacted her, only an hour since her whole world fell apart.

~~~~~~~~~~~~One hour ago~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Usagi sat brushing her hair as she always did before going to bed.  Usa had not made it back yet and she was starting to worry.  She hated being stuck on the sidelines not being able to help her friends. Now, she had to sit back and wait as her future daughter, the love of her life, and her sister senshi (for they were much more than just her friends) fought some horrible monster.  She brushed at her hair furiously thinking how life just wasn’t fair sometimes, when a sharp pain hit her stomach.  She clutched her stomach tightly dropping the brush to the floor.  She doubled over, as the pain seemed to take her.  She half crawled, half walked to the phone.  She managed only to pick the phone up as another spasm hit her.
‘ My baby’. She thought as she felt the spasm release her.  She sat back on the floor gasping, the cordless phone still in her hand which started to ring, startling her slightly.  She laughed softly at her own foolishness and answered the phone.
“Moshi, moshi”.  She said
*Mrs. Chiba”.  The voice stated over the phone.  Fear started to trickle into her mind.
“Y-Yes”.  She said her voice unsteady.  She knew it wasn’t good.  Whatever this person wanted wasn’t good.
“Mrs. Chiba, this is Dr. Garrison.  I work with your husband.  You need to come down to the hospital immediately.”
She waited for him to continue.
“Your husband has been in a terrible accident.”
“Is he ok”.  She asked softly.  Somehow she knew he was not dead.  He was her soul mate so she would have felt it if he died.  Wouldn’t she?
“I don’t want to go into detail over the phone, Mrs. Chiba.  Could you please come down as soon as possible”?
“I’m on my way”.  Usagi said.  She slowly walked to the closet pulling out a light sweater.  She never even noticed that she only had on her pajamas.  She also didn’t notice that she had left her long flowing hair down which almost reached her ankles.
Usagi hurried into the emergency room practically sprinting to the desk.
“May I help you?”  The receptionist asked a bored expression on her puffy plain face.
“Dr. Mamoru Chiba was brought here and I need to see him.  I’m his wife”.  Usagi said hastily barely thinking about what she was saying.
“Dr. Chiba? Well let me see if he was signed in”.  The woman said and turned to the computer before her.  She slowly typed in whatever it was she was typing.  Usagi was about two minutes away from giving her a few choice words to, unfitting of the future queen of Crystal Tokyo, to encourage her to attempt to hasten her movements which were about as fast as a turtle on a rainy day.
“Ah, here he is.  He’s in ICU (Intensive Care Unit), Dr. Garrison is personally overseeing his case.”  Usagi muttered ‘Thank you’ and rushed toward the elevator.  She knew the hospital pretty well, since her husband works here, and had no need for directions.  She mentally allowed herself to relax.  If Mamoru was in ICU, he was alive; otherwise he would have been transported to the morgue.  She felt her composure almost break at the thought of her Mamo-chan being in a morgue.  She exited the elevator and headed toward the nurse’s station at ICU.  There she ran into five people that she had forgotten about as soon as she received that call from the hospital.
“Usagi, what are you doing here”?  Ami asked taken aback at seeing her friend.  They had just come from Haruka’s and Michiru’s room.  At first they were given rooms on the ICU floor but when, in spite of the injuries they had received which was explained as a motorcycle accident, awakened from their almost comatose state, the doctors decided to move them to TCU (Transitional Care Unit).  They were just about to leave for that floor when Usagi came up.
“It’s Mamo-chan.”  She said tears welling up in her eyes yet refusing to fall. ‘Not now Usagi’. She thought ‘You can’t cry now, maybe later but not now’.
“My Mamo-chan was in an accident.  He’s up here”.  She said calmly, a little too calmly for Ami, who immediately concluded that she was in shock.
“Daddy”.  Usa whispered.  Her voice barely audible.
“Mommy, what happened to him”?  She said flinging herself into Usagi’s arms, holding on to her future mother tightly.
“He’s been in an accident, Usa.  I don’t know how serious it is”.  She said hugging her future offspring.
The girls had known for along time that Chibi-Usa was Usagi’s daughter.  For one thing she looked just like Usagi, especially now that she was a teen, but seeing her as she cried into Usagi’s arms, who stroked her hair soothingly, really made it real to them.  The two girls always acted like sisters, fighting and bickering back in the old days, but right now they were truly mother and daughter.
Usagi held on to her daughter, lightly stroking her pale pink hair.  Now she knew why she had been holding back her grief for her Mamo-chan, she had known that her little spore would need her.  She had to be strong for Usa.
“Mrs. Chiba”.  Dr. Garrison called from the nurse’s station.
“Dr. Garrison”.  Usagi said walking up to him the girls right behind her.
“Mrs. Chiba, your husband has been placed in room 207”.
“How is he?”  She asked looking into the man’s eyes.
“Well right now he’s in a coma”.  Usagi felt her knees wobble upon hearing that.  Thankfully Usa was right by her side, her arms encircling Usagi’s waist.
“W-Will he be ok”.  She stammered almost not wanting to know the answer.  The thought of her Mamo-chan in a coma was almost too much to bear.  She had read that sometimes people never come out of those things.
“Well, I want to be totally honest with you.  If he pulls through tonight, there is a chance that he will fully recover, but that all depends on tonight.  Your husband was in a bad accident.  It’s remarkable that he survived the ordeal, for the other driver did not, but having met your husband I would say that the man has a strong will.  I believe he will beat this”.  The doctor said smiling at his last statement.  He respected Dr. Chiba professionally and, after meeting his wife at a dinner party, personally as well.  Any man who could capture a captivating woman such as this had to have something good going for him.
“Can I see him?”  She asked bring him out of his reverie.
“Yes, but only you and your sister”.  He said nodding toward the pinked haired beauty holding onto Usagi.  He concluded that the two women must be related, for they looked almost like twins.
“We’ll wait here for you, Usagi”. Rei said putting a comforting hand on her best friend’s shoulder
“Yeah, Usagi, we’re here for you both”.  Minako added knowing that the two girls needed them now more than ever.
“Thanks girls”.  She said managing a small smile for her friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Now~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Usagi sat still holding her husbands hand.  She had sent a protesting Usa home with Rei about thirty minutes ago.  The nurse’s finally relented and let her stay, seeing in fact, that she wasn’t going anywhere any way.

Mamoru slept on, a serene look on his handsome face.

“Oh my prince”.  Usagi whispered smoothing his silken black hair away from his face.

“How I wish I could awaken you with a kiss, just like in the fairy tales”.  She said tears spilling from her eyes.

He laid there stoic no emotion showing on his face.  He was truly a sleeping prince.  A large bandage covered his forehead where it came in contact with the steering wheel of the car.  The air bags didn’t even come out which was a blessing.  Dr. Garrison said if they would have it would have surely killed Mamoru because the front end of the car was totally swooshed in.

“Please, don’t leave me Mamo-chan.  I don’t know if I can make it without you”.  She said placing her head on his bed, holding onto his hand as if it were some kind of life raft.  She silently cried falling into a deep dreamless sleep.

Rei sat meditating in front of the sacred fire.  So much had happened today especially with Mamoru being in the hospital.  She really needed answers.  Selene and Chad had been in bed by the time that she and Usa made it home.  She fixed up the bed in the guest room for Usa and sat with the girl until she fell asleep.  The girl was really taking this hard.  It made Rei wonder if perhaps the future was beginning to change.  She wondered would Usa be in such grief over Mamoru’s state even if she knew so before hand.  She couldn’t bring herself to ask the girl though.  After she peeked in on Selene and told Chad about what happened (he as well as all the senshi husbands know that their wives are the infamous Sailor Senshi), she came directly to the fire.  It comforted her now as she became one with it, slowly pulling her into it’s clutches.

“Please, Sacred Fire, show me the face of my adversaries”.  The fire sparked with her question answering her plea.  Rei suddenly found herself in a dark place, mist covering the ground and not a soul in sight.  She knew that she was not physically in this place, that it was a manifestation of her vision, but she could almost smell the death in the air.  She gasped in recognition for the streets she stood on, was Down Town Tokyo.  It looked deserted.  When she looked down, she realized that she stood on a solid block of ice.

“This is from my dream”.  She said referring to the vision she had had almost a year ago.

“Come and see”.  A voice called out from the darkness.

“Who’s there”? Rei asked wishing she could transform in her spiritual form.

“Come and see, princess of Mars”.  The voice again called.  Rei recognized it as the voice from her dream, the voice of her daughter.

“Selene!” Rei called running toward the direction of the voice.

She stopped in an alley, which was covered with dead bodies.  She felt as though she might throw up.  All here had died rather badly.  Rei noticed a child in against a wall his head slumped over dead, his hand still holding on to a gun.  She recognized him as one of the children killed during the first battle with this new enemy.

“Princess”.  A voice called from behind her.  She spun around to face the owner of said voice.  The girl before her was breathtaking.  Her little Selene as a grown woman, midnight black hair fell to her back like spun silk, her blue/gray eyes was almost hypnotic, a gown of red hugged her mature curves.  Yes, her Selene would one day be a heart breaker.  She wondered though why Selene came to her like this.

“And upon a red horse sat the beast and a crown was placed upon his head and the power was given to him to spread hatred, strife”.  She said her voice prophetic.

“And upon a black horse sat another beast and in his hands he held a balance, the power was given to him to spread hunger, famine”.

Suddenly a small girl appeared beside Selene.  Her cheeks were hollowed from hunger and rags covered her back.  She stared sadly up at Rei.

Rei fell to her knees at the sight before her.  The poor child was as thin as a rail.  Rei knew already that she was as dead as the bodies of the children that lay before her.

“Why are you showing me this?  What does this all mean?”  Rei asked glaring up at Selene.

“You wanted to see.  You needed to see.  You cannot fight what is meant, Mother.  You can not stop this”.  Selene stated pointing toward the children lying before her.  She gently placed her hand on top of the child’s head that stood beside her.  The child dropped as dead to this world as she was in their reality.

“How can you be so calm about all this?  Please tell me that my daughter will not become this merciless monster I see before me”.  Rei bit out watching as Selene walked over to her.

“And upon a white horse sat the third beast and in his hands he held a sword.  He was given the power of conquering, of war”.  She said as she reached Rei.  She pointed at a spot behind Rei and Rei stood to take a look.

The beast she described sat upon a white horse in the alleyway, a sword shifting skillfully in its hands.  The horse began to gallop toward them at break neck speed and Rei rushed to stand against a wall out of the way.  Selene just stood there, looking at the beast as if he was a normal occurrence.

“Selene, move out the way”! Rei called from her spot but looked up to find that the apparition had disappeared.

“And upon a pale horse sat the final beast and the greatest power was given to him and he sat out to share this merciful gift, death” Selene said nodding toward the spot that the third beast had occupied.  A man sat upon this horse cloaked in a black robe a black hood covering his face.  As he galloped toward them, however the hood fell away and his face was revealed.  His face, Rei knew all to well.

“Mamoru”.  She whispered as she watched the prince race forward his face grim then disappearing as the last monster had.

“What does this mean”?  She again asked no demanded.  Her violet eyes locking onto Selene’s smoky blue ones.

“You will see soon, mother.  You will know soon”.  She said.

She touched Rei’s face gently.

“Be strong, Princess of Mars.  Have fate in him, fate in her.  You will see your salvation”.  She said softly as she too faded from the alley.

“Wait, Selene, I need to know more about this enemy”.  She called out to the hollow darkness that she felt herself being dragged away from.

She then became aware of the sacred fire blazing before her as she found herself back in the shrine.

She slumped over quite drained from the vision.

She pulled herself up and went to bed snuggling close to her husband.  He instinctively placed his arm around her small frame.

“Are you ok, honey”? He asked sleepily.

“Yeah, I’m fine Chad.  Just hold me”.  She said facing him drawing strength from his embrace.

“I can do better than that”.  He said smiling seductively.  His lips quickly seized hers, giving her a passionate kiss.  The kiss quickly deepened into something more as he pulled up her night gown and placed his hand on her inner thigh.  His hand slowly began to move up reaching into her panties and stroking the flower he found there.  Rei moaned relishing in the pleasure he was giving her.  But as her mind succumbed to the pleasures of love making, the horror of the vision still held her in its grip.  She knew that she must call a meeting tomorrow.
