I write this to tell the tale of two events that occurred this past gather. While it is technically the tale of events, it is more the tale of two men, men to whom I owe my life several times over. These men are men of both honor and courage, who regularly give everything they have to protect the people of Tyrra. The noble code states that "Thou shalt respect the weak and thou shalt constitute thyself the defender of them." I know of few men who better represent these qualities than the two men of whom I speak. The first of these men is Baron Jayson Askani of Westmarch, and the second is the member of his Court known as Chester Kapel.
On Saturday evening, Baron Askani and Chester had to go into the Mages' Guild to be identified after completing a particularly dangerous mission, and I chose to stand watch outside. Unfortunately, I turned to talk to some goblins, committing the egregious error of leaving my back exposed. A wandering spider took advantage of this and caught me in its web, and then hit me with sleep poison.
The spider began to drag me off, but fortunately my friend Branivan was guarding the door to the Mages' Guild, and he saw me being dragged by. He told Baron Askani that I was being dragged off, and Baron Askani and Chester immediately came charging out through the door. Along with Baron Daramor, they slayed the spider and freed me. It should be sufficient for me to say that I was most grateful, but that was not the last thing these men did for me that evening.
Several hours later, I was still standing at the Mages' Guild, when I realized it would be a good idea for me to get to sleep eventually. I was staying with Westmarch, but to get to my cabin required finding an escort to help me get from what is called "high town" in Ravenholt City back down to the area known as "low town."
I began walking down with Squire Kovan Pax and the Grey Raven, but we fell under attack. Just then, who should show up but Chester. After he defeated the undead he was fighting against, I ran up to him, greeted him, and asked him why he had come back to high town so late at night. He told me that he and Baron Askani had come up to provide me an escort back down to low town, and to ensure that I got there safely.
Just then, Baron Askani finished the battle he was involved with and came over to Chester and I, and the three of us headed back down to low town together. Before we could even reach the bridge, we were again attacked by undead. The Baron and Chester fought through some of them, and I used a destroy undead to take out the last one. We then managed to cross the bridge, but were assaulted by a group of six undead whose claws caused paralysis on the other side of the bridge.
We attempted to fight the undead, but there were just too many of them. Baron Jayson and Chester both got themselves paralyzed and began to bleed out, and I went back for help. There was no way I was going to let these men who had done so much for me die if I could help it. The Grey Raven then came down to aid us, and together with the Grey Raven, we managed to fight back the undead, and I finally was able to safely go to sleep.
Tyrra is an amazing place. There are many people just like Baron Askani and Chester, people who risk their lives for others every day. These people deserve our praise and thanks, for it is they of whom we can always say that they fight with honor and courage.
